When my nephew passed away, my family turned to Jeff and the services and support he provided were second to none. Losing someone without any warning who was so young in life, was shocking and beyond tragic. In that moment of chaos, Jeff provided comfort and stability for our family as he orchestrated the most amazing funeral service I have ever seen. He met with us that day and took care of every single detail. When I look back on those few days in Jeff's care, I remember his attention to detail, utmost professionalism, and feeling like he became part of our family in the process. He helped us honor our fallen one and from my perspective, the funeral services he provided helped me and continues to help me deal with the loss. Most recently, we lost a member of our family to cancer and I was tasked with making the funeral arrangements. I turned to Jeff who carried out our loved ones small, intimate, funeral wishes to perfection. Throughout the process, Jeff kept our budget in mind, was in constant contact with me, and provided a beautiful service. On both occasions, my family and friends kept saying how wonderful the funeral service was while our family walked away knowing that we remembered and honored our loved ones lives to the utmost level. It is never easy to lose someone you love and I can't imagine anyone being able to remember and honor the life of a loved one more professionally and elegantly than Jeff Monreal Funeral Home.

However, there is one grave that is very special and it's worth the trip to Willoughby to see. It belongs to "The Girl in Blue". She is the claim to fame for Willoughby Cemetery. In December 1933 -- when she was still alive -- she was let off a street car because she wasn't able to pay the fare. She was found dead on Christmas Eve and had been killed by a train. Her stone reads: "In Memory of The Girl in Blue, Killed by Train, December 24, 1933." Sixty years later, she was identified. A teacher of mine at Willoughby Tech used to tell stories about how bodies would be dug up here for research by medical students. It probably didn't happen. That teacher was on a lifelong acid trip. Sometimes I would walk my dog through here during the day. Never at night. Are you nuts?
