They've prepared for some level of traffic that is one day sure to come, but generally they sit relatively empty and waiting. Businesses are flocking to the so-called "Carolina Core" and it's only a matter of time, I think, before they even started expanding. Until then, this one-terminal airport is a breeze. You can walk from security down the singular corridor, and back, in a matter of minutes. It feels homely, warm, and inviting. There's free WiFi and ample seating so that you won't regret thinking you have to arrive an hour early to this airport. I even somewhat regret paying for TSA precheck because it has so far been pointless for my several trips out of GSO. The parking situation outside the airport is also practically flawless. You can park quite close to the terminal for $10/day or snag an Uber that will get you here and back in a breeze. Similarly to the airport itself, car traffic in the vicinity is also nearly non-existent. All in all, it makes the Triad and even more inviting and livable region.

We would still be in the car by the time they were letting passengers on. We rushed and got to the gate when boarding should have still been going on and were told they had closed the gate early. No only did we not get notice that our time changed to earlier until 20 minutes before take off, they closed the gate early and talked to us like it was our fault. If you don't get to this airport 2 hours before your flight, chances are they may send it off before you even get informed. 0/10, rude, unreliable, and unorganized

My only complaint is that I do think the ride share location is in a weird spot. Checking in is pretty easy and the TSA lines move by very quick. The TSA people are also generally friendly. The airport is currently being modernized and I'm over in the A gate waiting for my flight and I'm happy to learn that this place has portable charging and the armrests of the chairs. TSA was a bit confusing as signage told you one thing and you were supposed to do another which was inconvenient but not a hassle. We also got through with some full size products that we had to throw away on the returning flight that wasn't flagged. It's about the same distance as CLT but for the ease I'd easily fly here again.

The airport has 2 runways 02-20 is 6500 feet long and 13-31 is over 4500 feet long. The airport hosts 2 VOR, a GPS, and an ILS Approach to 200 ft AGL minimum. Averett University's Flight Program is hosted at the field as well. The Airport is close to Greensboro and Raleigh-Durham, NC and Lynchburg, VA. The Mechanics at KDAN are outstanding as well if you are in need of repairs away from home.

I was out there last week to pickup some company executives who were flying in for a NASCAR race that was occurring at the Martinsville Speedway which was a short distance away. There is a waiting room and family run restaurant on site. That was a big plus since I was getting text messages from the party I was meeting inquiring about food options when they landed. Anyway, the staff at the airport and restaurant were accommodating. The facility itself is top notch.
