We didn't have an appointment but were told they did have openings and would find someone to help us.. several employees ignored my mom and I and, walking away when we tried to talk to them, actually turning their backs on us. Very strange. I did say I was on a tight budget so maybe that was part of it if they knew they weren't going to get a sale over $500. I recently visited your store with my family to try on wedding dresses, and unfortunately, our experience was extremely disappointing. While my assigned stylist was kind and attentive, the rest of the staff displayed poor customer service and a lack of hospitality that made us feel very uncomfortable. Many of the dresses were in poor condition -- worn, torn, or unable to be zipped properly. Additionally, several dresses that were supposed to be available in my size were not. One employee, Mia, was particularly unprofessional and dismissive, providing unclear directions and contributing to an unpleasant atmosphere. To make matters worse, one of my family members overheard her and another employee speaking negatively about us. Then another worker working with a customer was rude to her and was snatching dressed from her. The lack of professionalism was disheartening. What should have been a joyful and memorable occasion turned into a stressful and discouraging experience. I wanted to bring this to your attention in hopes that these issues can be addressed so other brides do not experience the same disappointment. read more

I came here about two weeks ago in search of a wedding dress, with my mom and one of my bridesmaids. Our sales lady was great - I have her name written down and will update this when I grab it. (Edit: Ashanti, I think!) I tried on quite a lot of dresses here, like 10+ probably. I found a few I liked, but didn't LOVE, which is why I kept looking at other stores. The prices are fabulous here though - some sale dresses were $400+, which is very reasonable. I may come back here at some point for bridesmaids gifts, too, because they had a fun selection, it looked like. They also sell bridesmaids dresses and MOB (mother of the bride) ones. They give you a little "goody bag" when you arrive too, a tote bag with deodorant and some papers in it, which was a nice touch. Overall I highly recommend this David's Bridal location. read more

Extremely disappointing experience. I visited David's Bridal in Novi today at 10:30 AM with a list of favorite dresses I had compiled directly from their website. I was excited to try them on--only to be told that none of them were available in-store and that they don't keep those dresses in stock. The only way to see them is to buy them first. That makes absolutely no sense--who buys a wedding dress without trying it on? I also told the associate I was looking for a streamlined gown with long sleeves. Instead, I was repeatedly brought strapless, halter, and poofy dresses--the exact opposite of what I asked for. It felt like they weren't listening at all and were just trying to push inventory, not help me find my dress. The entire experience was frustrating and felt like a waste of time. The oddest, most NPC bridal store customer experience ever. Let's start with the front desk concierge who consist of rude teenage girls. A solid greeting or welcome would have been nice instead of barely any eye contact and a lot of looking down. Went to check in to try on a dress for an upcoming relatives wedding and the young store associate girl "could not find the Bride's account and no dress was on file" Therefore, I made a few phone calls and the bride definitely had an account and had chosen a brides maid dress, hence the reason for our trip to the store. As we made our way around the store looking at dresses as we were in limbo, the young store associate informed us that "she found the dress" I then called the bride and family back yo let them know, as they were now super stressed about the situation. Moving on to trying on the dress - FYI - There is no fitting and no one measured anything. My daughter who is tall and thin was told by the same rude front desk associate that "Your probably a size 12" thinking maybe dress sizes were different or running smaller, my daughter and I looked at each other shocked. Okay, so we continued to "go with it". Remembering elementary school gym class the parachute game? That's how big the dress was on my daughter. Also the sample dress had foundation stains on it and smelled like armpit odor. Gross. In fact when we asked for a smaller size the front desk associate looked at us like we were crazy. Anyhow, we just wanted to order the dress and be on our way. The lady at the register was friendlier than everyone else. We ended up going on a whim and ordering a size 4. Lady at register informed the dress would be ready in a month. Fast forward 1 month (yesterday) Went to pick up the dress. We were ignored as we entered the store. They seemed busy, so we continued to the register to pick up the dress. We waited in line for about 10 minutes only to be told to go back to the front desk and the same girl from last time (young Asian girl) would help us. We go back to the front desk. No greeting, no smile just "What's your name" my daughter tells her and she goes to get the dress. As we're waiting my daughter notes that this experience is again super off. The front desk associate comes back and hands my daughter the dress and walks away with zero communication. We kind of stand there for a second thinking she may mention trying on the dress, a fitting perhaps or a simple have a nice day. Nothing. Definitely will not be returning here ever. I would rather pay more for better customer service to be honest. Not sure if it was just the associate, nonetheless this review is due to (2) poor quality experience by the same staff member. Finally, there is a big difference between a size 12 and 4. Maybe start there? read more

Overall, we were able to get a dress and take it home. However, we called in advance and asked for lake blue. My daughter was the maid of honor. We were told to go to David's bridal. The wedding is in TX and I flew to Detroit to help my daughter. We went to the Novi location. I forget the name of the sales rep. She was young. They only had 3 lake blue dresses (that frustrated me because we drove an hour and called in advance). None of the dresses fit my daughter. The back up dress was Navy. We advised of that. She brought several dresses. After trying a bunch on, my daughter was set on one. I looked at the color. It was marine. Ug! She brought us all marine dresses. Why? She said it was their "navy". I told her that's not true because we picked them on line and we also told you navy. The rep was nice enough, but I don't understand, as we were very clear. We cannot show up at a wedding in the wrong color. Luckily she brought several dresses several more of the navy and we found one that worked. One of the dresses was missing beads. So, we went with the other. My daughter didn't like any of the shoes. The dress was $300 and we were satisfied when we left. However, we could have saved an hour if they told us: a) when we called that they only had three lake blue dresses, and b) that they brought us the correct color to begin with. A Second Lady (older and more mature woman) came to help and knew what we were looking for. read more

Walking in, I was actually surprised at how beautiful it was inside. This location definitely has the boutique feel and it's very easy to find things. I had a bridal appointment with one of my bridesmaids and we were both trying dresses on. I came really prepared for my appointment. After talking to my bridal specialist, (I can't remember her name!) I handed her my list of dresses I wanted to try on and we got to it! Trying off different shoes helped narrow my list down and the first dress I put on ended up being my pick! I knew it from when I first put it on. I had an amazing experience from start to finish. I was able to try on a variety of gowns, and for the price point of other places I was very happy and able to stay within my budget! I bought my dress, crystal belt, veil and shoes. My bridesmaid found her dress in the color I wanted. I was really surprised at how much DB has stepped its bridal game up from the last time I came here. read more

We came here looking for homecoming dresses. Although we did not find a dress, we did have a good experience. First, I did not even know they carried dresses for homecoming/ prom until this HS dance season. We heard that other people were looking at David's and did find some good dresses, so we went to this location. The staff was very friendly and very helpful. They accommodated us, helped us, and went out of their way to make us feel welcome. Unfortunately the dress selection was very small and picked over. They only had a few styles in only a few sizes. Perhaps other locations had a larger stock. We were able to try some things on, but did not purchase anything. I would not discount this place and definitely come back again for another special occasion dress. The prices seem reasonable and the staff fun to work with. read more

EDITED TO ADD: My wedding was last Sunday (9/18). As I was putting my dress on, I was stabbed multiple times by straight pins that were left in my dress (see picture) with no explanation/warning to look out for them. On top of what I have already gone through with this company, it just made me roll my eyes as this is what I expected. I do appreciate the manager reaching out to speak with me (she did end up speaking with my now husband instead as I was not open to a conversation at that time). I do believe we received a decent explanation of their store policies and practices. We were refunded the price of our alterations which was considerate, however, we were asked to update our review in exchange for that to which my husband stated we would consider. I personally do not find to be a honest business practice. If someone is dissatisfied with a service, you work to make it better and allow them to consider changing their review on their own. This situation reads as bribery and is also a practice that is forbidden by the FTC just so you know. I just had a few friends get engaged and have passed along my negative experience. All I ask of future customers is to consider their options carefully before purchasing from David's Bridal. David's Bridal: please consider changing your practices and updating your employee training. I'm sure I am not the only bride you made feel awful on her special day. If you or anyone you love is getting married, I beg you not to take them to this David's Bridal. My first trip was just fine; I had a wonderful associate help me pick out my dress and find the perfect one within a few hours. From there, everything went downhill. I came back for my alterations appointment and a few weeks later, went to pick up my dress. When the associate assisting me could not get it to zip up, they said "oh you've gained weight!" loudly, embarrassing me in front of my bridal party and others within the store. From there, they figured out that I in fact had not gained weight as my measurements were the same, but the person handling the alterations took my dress in completely wrong. They claimed that a "broken measuring tape" was used and that was why it was wrong. Sure Jan. They re-order my dress and I go through the process again. While I am at my alterations appointment for my new dress, again, an associate makes a comment about how I must have gained weight because this dress doesn't seem correct. Again, I leave this appointment feeling body shamed and embarrassed because *I* am always the problem, never the way the associates are conducting business. (Spoiler alert: I once again, had not gained weight). Finally, yesterday, I get my dress back (A WEEK BEFORE MY WEDDING MIND YOU) and asked the associate to assist me with zipping it up. She tugs on the zipper and goes "oh it doesn't fit, have you gained weight?" to which I almost lose it on her. Once she assists me with positioning the dress correctly, it zips right up as it should. No apology or anything, just to watch what I eat within the next week so my dress fits correctly. The associates here do not care; it was always a problem with my body, then they realized they messed up and never once did I receive an apology. P.S. my dress is still messed up as they put the sleeves on incorrectly, but I no longer have time to fight with the absolutely incompetent staff at this location. Don't bother going here; they don't care and just see you as dollars in their pocket. Thanks for ruining my dress multiple times and making me feel like crap on my wedding day, David's Bridal. If I wanted to feel like crap, I'd go visit my relatives for free and not spent a boatload of money here. read more

My daughter begged me to take her to a "real dress store " to buy a dress for her upcoming prom. We have 2 other teenage daughters so we're definitely on a budget. We started looking at dresses on sale , and found a couple in our budget. Two different associates asked if they could help us , they started a dressing room for my daughter. Unfortunately, the dresses in her size didn't fit , I was told they run small. The associate said she would go find my daughter dresses in her size , and returned with 400.00 + , Mother of the Bride type dresses, with beaded jackets etc. She said , "Here these may fit you " looking my daughter up and down, definitely fat shaming her. My daughter got teary eyed and said, we need to leave mom , that lady is making me feel bad. My daughter wears size 12 - 14 BTW. When we left the same associate said , "Next time don't bring so many dresses back to the fitting room" We didn't! The associates brought all of them back except two my daughter found. I had to return with my mother and tried to make an appointment for Saturday evening. I was told nothing was available. So I decided to walk in with my mom. But I did one last check online. This place had the best service the second you walked in and everyone in the store is very helpful. Everything was super easy to find with many stiles and beautiful dresses, this place is perfect for any fancy occasion and just amazing for weddings with a very wide variety with everything you could think of. The selection of sizes for bridal gowns is really nice. The staff was pleasant when I walked in. However, the consultant assigned to my family was not. It's like they don't take in account the bride when they assign consultants. The person was slow with bringing bridal gowns, had no real interest in helping. It felt like when you tell a friend some great news and they just look at you with an oh ok nice response. It could have been a much better experience had we had an awesome consultant. There was another bride next to us and her consultant was on the ball with suggestions and keeping the dresses coming. My family member did find her ideal dress as the brides maids were on the job. A boutique would have been more accommodating, but David's Bridal carries a substantially large size selection for brides that may be bigger than a size 10. read more

Had some pretty horrible service here about a year ago. A group of us were in looking for bridesmaids dresses. I can't remember the woman's name helping us, but she was extremely rude the whole time. Just absolutely disrespectful to us and our moms. Telling us we clearly don't know how the process works. After having to get a dress from there because that's what the bride chose, the alterations were such a mess. They were expensive and done horribly. I went to try my newly altered dress on and the stitching fell apart in my hands. I could have done a better job at sewing it. They also did the opposite of what I had asked. Tightened the area I asked to be lose and loosened the area I asked to be tight. I had to have them re sow the dress on the spot where the stitching fell apart. Stitching then fell apart on the wedding day AGAIN. The only reason I didn't give one star was because the women working the alterations were at least kind. read more

I came in with a list of dresses (11) that I knew I wanted to try on and when all those choices didn't work out for me, she found a few that she thought I would like andddd thanks to her, I said YES to my wedding dress! A little backstory, I had a very unfortunate experience with a different location with a rude & pushy stylist who made my guests and myself very uncomfortable so I was nervous trying again, however, I'm SO glad I did. All the staff at this location were easy to work with and very pleasant. The store was kept very clean and the layout was MUCH nicer and more organized as well. I came here with my sister to look for her wedding dress. This was the second David's Bridal we went to in the Detroit area. Everything about this place was exponentially better than the previous place and what I expected our experience to be. Everything about this David's Bridal was larger. Larger building, larger fitting rooms, larger collection of dresses. The place was laid out in different sections and was organized in a logical manner that flowed well. The fitting room was enormous. It allowed for multiple large parties to be present concurrently without intruding on other parties. The aesthetic of this place was modern and sleek. It felt like we were in a nice designer dress shop. The lighting was better, particularly in the fitting room! Lighting is everything! My sister ordered her dress few days after Thanksgiving. Flash forward 3 weeks, the dress is in, months before we expected. This probably happens seldomly but we are thankful my sister's dress came in super early! The customer service at this place...let me tell you about Anju, the lovely woman who helped us. Anju is like a wedding dress whisperer. We came in feeling a little flustered and discouraged but that turned around the minute we got to this location. We had an appointment and Anju was on time, greeted us right on the dot. She helped my sister try on a ridiculous amount of dresses. She was quick and took time to understand my sister's taste. She brought multiple dresses, made suggestions in a methodical manner that assisted in the process of elimination. She guided my sister through her decision-making process, simplifying it and stripping it down to basics. She was straight to the point and balanced it by encouraging emotions. At the end, my sister said yes to her dress, thanks to Anju and her expertise. Anju is the exact person I would want to help me pick out my own wedding dress. read more

I let him know that I had a bad experience at another location and he assured me that today would be different, and it sure was. I met with Mercedes and I explained I was on a tight budget and told her my money limit. She assured me I can look gorgeous in a budget dress. Mercedes stayed true to her word and only pulled out dresses that were under my budget. Seriously, huge shout out to her because she was amazing. I came by myself because I just wanted a dress that I liked instead of 10 other opinions. However, all of the staff members kept peeking around the corner and pointing out what they liked and didn't like regarding the fit, which coming from professionals is much better than a friend who doesn't like a dress only because she hates lace. I never thought I'd get emotional in my dress, but my eyes did well up and I told them it was the one. If you're looking for wedding dresses, please make the drive to this location. She was really friendly, welcomed all of my guest, helped me pick out dresses and was very patient with me because I had never looked at or tried on a wedding dress before. When I did pick my dress, I liked that they incorporated some of the things I have seen on TV and wished me well in my new marriage. My friends wedding was yesterday, she looked absolutely beautiful but not only did David's bridal give her a HELL of a time with her alterations being that they quite literally fucked up her dress so badly A WEEK before her wedding. She was stressed out the entire week and not only that we got to the wedding and they told us they steamed and wrapped the veil but when we pulled it out of the bag we noticed not an inch was straight. Then, our consultant had ME look up a sku # for her on my phone instead of doing it on her computer only to tell me she MIGHT be able to call and ask around if other stores had a dress we liked. What's the point of making an appointment if nobody at the store will do anything to assist customers? I arrived at 1:20 for my 1:30 appointment and after checking in, the man at the front desk vaguely pointed and said "the dresses are over there." Nobody helped me look through or carry the dresses and when I finally found a salesperson, she took 10-15 minutes to come back empty handed and said they didn't have anything in a size 10 or 12. She disappeared again and came back with something in a size 8 before disappearing again. She then came back and said she was going on lunch and another person would help me! The other person eventually brought back a dress but it wasn't what I was hoping to find. After she wandered away I decided to leave -- and I passed her chatting with a coworker and not looking in the racks for dresses. Definitely walked out empty handed and I'm not going to buy anything or even order online from this place. What a waste of time. read more

1. Consultants assist two brides at a time. 2. Called and made an appointment for two days away. Received a text appointment confirmation for 8 months later. 3. When calling to make an appointment they do not specify the window of time you're allotted. Be prepared, 40 minutes in for them to end your appointment - dress found or not. (The manager stated when you make an appointment online it states that. Not helpful if you call to schedule.) 4. Be prepared to spend time waiting to try on dresses if someone else has similar taste. Keep in mind, your allotted time ends when it ends. 5. Sales staff are human. Ours seemed to write my daughter off, perhaps it was because they did not have a dress similar to what she was requesting. Our sales person would have gained points had she said that. 6. I submitted a request on my review of our shopping experience from David's Bridal and asked for a call from the manager. I received a call the next morning, first thing. The woman has no empathy and called with a predetermined option. 7. Our experience-came in excited to find THE dress and make memories. Rather, we left upset, frustrated and hurt. The other bride our sales person had - was there before we were, and was still working through picking her dress. That young bride received a totally different experience from our shared sales person. Like any experience in life, it's a gamble when you select a business to work with. People are human. Unfortunately for my daughter- we received the side of our sales person who seemed to make a decision that we were not worth her time. Mind you, we are college educated and clean dressed. I would have given a one star review, however the manager did call in a timely fashion. read more

Ordered shoes because in-store shoes were slightly stained. Told they would be in within a couple of months but arrived in 2 weeks. Went to the store to pick them up and they too were stained. Re-ordered them, and told a couple of months. A week later we're told they were in. These too had a stain on the ivory colored shoes. Asked for the Manager who showed no compassion whatsoever or never offered to re-order stating they all the shoes are new. These were shoes that came from others stores that tried on by others and stained! I understand that ivory colored shoes may get a stain but if I'm paying full price it better be my stain! Had the best experience always greeted when I walk in, went there almost a year ago and Destinee helped me find my wedding dress, was patient with me with the look I was going for I think I tried on 30+ dresses. I came back because of my experience there, to shop for a dress to wear to a friends wedding, yet again Destinee was there came up to me and remembered exactly who I was!! And the details of my wedding dress, even the dresses I picked out for my bridesmaids. And asked to see pictures of my wedding, and helped me try on another 18 dresses to find the right one for my body type. If I ever need a dress for a special occasion I will be going back and asking for Destinee to help me! I'll even call ahead of time to make sure she's there when I get there. She gets my body and exactly what colors look good with my skin tone! Hands down one of the best customer service I've ever had. My random walk in was my best experience. I have since had 2 appointments and have not had great experiences. The first time I came in I found dresses for a reasonable price for the first time since I started dress shopping. I was very excited and set up an appointment to come back with my mother and maid of honor. The associate and I worked well together and I wanted to ensure she received the commission, so I requested to keep the same associate. She would be gone on a vacation so I scheduled an appointment for when we thought she would return. I called a week before and found she did not work that day. I requested to change to a day she was available. When I arrived to my new appointment I had a completely different associate and on my form she thought I was there for mother-of-bride dresses. The two associates worked it out and I had who I requested. All the prices of the same dresses I tried on were all $200-300 more! This time the experience was much more gauged into buying everything and a significantly less fun experience. My third appointment was for my bridesmaids dresses. This was the worst. One bridesmaid got there early and reported the staff was very rude to her. Once I got there it was rushed experience and extremely pushy on purchasing all of them that day. I explained multiple times since I have 9 bridesmaids and only 2 were present (many are out of state) I would need to talk to the group. Overall I will continue my shopping experience somewhere else.
