He took the time to completely explain and educate me via his experience, professionalism, patience, honesty and humor. There was no sales pitch, just facts...thank goodness. I'm certainly no "big fish" and don't have money to burn but he didn't make me feel like my issue was too small for the firm. I left feeling empowered and understood. Hats off to LS Carlson Law! I chose this firm to represent me in an HOA case after watching several of their videos on the…read moresubject and perceiving a grounded demeanor from the owner, Luke Carlson. I had a consultation with him, however I was assigned to a firm team led by two lawyers who were thorough, but I found the team approach too expensive for me as their "thoroughness" resulted in an approximately $6K Demand Letter which did not move the needle. I contested several charges and Mr. Carlson was gracious to acknowledge them. I hired another "economy of task" lawyer who scaled her Demand Letter concisely and at far less cost while providing me with 6 months of representation for the same amount I paid LS Carlson for barely 3 months. I represented myself in my ADR and as there was no resolution, I circled back to LS Carlson for another consultation re suing my HOA. I did not receive a response. My second lawyer, however, responded and said she would not only provide me with another consultation, but also represent me in court should I chose to do so.

I didn't feel like I was being represented by an attorney, I felt like I was surrounded with a "family". John Griffith is a brilliant, educated, dedicated and above and beyond passionate human being. All of those adjectives describe the attorney he is too. The entire office made me feel important, listened to, cared about my case and was with me every step of the way. My case was not easy. It was and is a high conflict, very complicated and dynamic child custody case. John and team expertly chewed through three lawyers that the other side presented. His paralegal (Kristin C) is no longer working for GYL but was instrumental in the case as well. Jeff was another attorney who assisted John with the case and he was an amazing asset who also helped tremendously. I can't thank John Griffith or his firm enough for the care, dedication and attention to detail they paid to my case. More importantly they are child focused and family focused. Thank you John, Catie, Amy, Jeff, Kristin, Kayla, and everyone else over there that helped me through two plus years of tough litigation. You men and women truly are the best. I would recommend this firm to anyone looking for stellar representation if they find themselves in a divorce or custody battle.

He frequently didn't respond to me during the process. Before our court hearing I reached out multiple times trying to make sure he was ready with the expert witness he had me hire and pay for. Our very first court appearance he had to postpone because he failed to serve my ex! Then there was another hearing that was asked for another exemption. Zero response until a week before the hearing. I get a frantic call from Matt encouraging me to settle for less than half of what I would get in court! I refused. He gave me some story as to why it was in my best interest to take the 50%. Then he came back and said my ex was refusing that amount and it would be less than 30% of what I was entitled to, however his firm would make up the difference. HUGE RED FLAG and alarm bells went off! I work for a professional services company and we do NOT pay our clients. Then the next email I get is from an associate at his firm sending me a response filing by my ex's attorney. It detailed out Matt's failure to respond to settlement negotiations, and failing to file MY witness list (so I have NO expert) in trial. The court filing was clear this guy had not done a thing to help my case and it was all detailed out for the judge. I cried! I had waited over a year with his delays and extensions he requested on my case and now I have no chance of winning and zero faith in his ability to represent me. I took his offer as long as he put in writing to pay me the money to bring me to 50%. He said he would write off the attorney costs (well I certainly expected that since he screwed up the whole thing!) and he said he cut me a check within X number of days. Well that came and went. No money. Then he sends me a release he wants me to sign that says I won't discuss his screw ups! Absolutely NOT! He cost me money and he let my ex get away with even more BS. That was an insult on top of the injury he caused me. I filed a complaint with the state bar and I hired an attorney to represent me against Matt. I didn't quite get the amount I would have from my ex, but I still get to warn other people to run. This guy misses every deadline and can't even serve notice to the opposing counsel! Do yourself a favor and don't hire Matt Blado.
