Very good GI doc that will address your concerns and offer solid advice. Started me on special Gerd diet to try to diminish the problem.

Dr. Martyak is what I wish all of us in the profession could be-very current on knowledge, thoughtful, empathetic, and deeply caring. Dr. Martyak treats me for GI complications caused by other medications that I have to take despite their horrible side effects. She thinks outside the box and goes the extra mile to make sure I'm okay. I go years without needing her aside from the recommended GI maintenance, and then there are times during which I desperately need her help. She and her amazing front office are there every time. Dr. Martyak recognizes that this stuff is hard for most of us to talk about, including me. You can say anything and she will receive it with concern and a deep understanding of how important personal dignity is. I love that she keeps both short term comfort and symptom management as well as long term plans front and center. I cannot recommend her highly enough. My husband is also a patient of hers and would agree wholeheartedly. I take tremendous comfort in knowing that she is ready and willing to take on my rather complex GI issues with a true understanding of how hard this stuff can be on your quality of life. There are not enough stars to rate her as I'd truly like to. She's a godsend and I feel so much better both physically and emotionally in her care.

I had an amazing experience with Dr. Nowain. I went in for a colonoscopy based on his great reviews…read moreand my consultation I had with him. I had previously chosen another doctor but cancelled after speaking to Dr. Nowain because he was head and shoulders better. He was extremely patient, knowledgeable, and reassuring. I had several other friends that highly recommended him. On the day of my procedure, Dr. Nowain was punctual and very comforting as he could tell I was nervous. He has an excellent bedside manner to go with his skills and credentials. The procedure went perfectly, and the doctor was right next to me when I woke up to discuss the results and share pictures with me. All in all, this was an amazing experience with an excellent doctor and I'm glad I did it. I highly recommend this doctor to everyone else. I have very high standards and I'm extremely picky and Dr. Nowain met and surpassed all my expectations. To everyone over age 40, please get colonoscopies. A 30 minute procedure could save your life. And better yet, get it with Dr. Nowain. The research I did showed he was much more effective at catching cancerous polyps than his contemporaries.

I'm keeping my original review for continuity. This update is to show, using my own documentation,…read morehow biased and prejudicial language in medical notes can permanently distort a patient's credibility and access to care. I count myself lucky I met my new GI doctor, although treatment is complicated now because of my worsening injuries. Over the past four years I've had time to study what happened, review my records, and talk with professionals who helped me understand how the bias in my care took shape. The pain I was in left me cognitively impaired for a long time, which made it hard to see how dismissive the treatment really was while it was happening. Because of the wording used in my chart -- phrases like "patient is convinced" and "very likely psychosomatic" -- it's very likely the kind of language that led other doctors to dismiss my concerns and assume the problem was psychological. My injuries worsened, the connective tissue in my abdomen continued to tear, and I lost muscle support through my torso. A genetic condition was also upregulated and my skin permanently traumatized. That language still follows me through my medical record and continues to influence how I'm treated. Nearly four years later, I'm still trying to recover from my injury and the physical and psychological damage caused by dismissive, biased documentation and the prejudice that began in this office. I'm including Dr. Nowain's original notes, and other records that corroborate both the intense pain I was really in, the celiac artery compression and soft tissue damage, and the continual gaslighting using prejudicial language to dismiss my accounts and leave me in pain and suffering. These are all before the injury worsened. I can still hear Dr. Nowain's voice from that day in his office -- angry, certain: "You're having a panic attack!" When I said I wasn't, he replied, "That sounds just like something someone having a panic attack would say." It still plays in my head like I heard it yesterday. So, I guess there's only one thing left to say. Best of luck in all your health journeys, and remember: "One foot in front of the other, bravely forward. Always."

When a doctor enters the room and starts asking about you , where u are from and about your family instead of just looking at paperwork and getting right to business you know you are on the right path. Dr.Dixit is very personable and clearly knows what he's doing. Even on the day of the colonoscopy he was in the procedure room talking about puppies and making me feel at ease. You can't find doctors this cool nowadays. Would be nice to have Dr.Dixit as my GP. Trust me, you can't go wrong here for a colonoscopy with Dr. Dixit. As far as the office goes. Everyone there seemed quite nice. Very quick and quiet with Covid-19.

I really hate to leave this review because Dr Dixit is very kind…read more However, I can't give him 5 stars for his medical ability. If you need a colonoscopy or an endoscopy and that's it, then I highly recommend Dr Dixit. If, however, you are having mystery symptoms and need help diagnosing them, I would not recommend him. He is not a very skilled diagnostician in the GI field and regularly wrote me off when I tried to broach concerns with him. He left me in limbo about Barret's Esophagus for a year (when another GI was able to clearly tell me I did not have it.) Despite being hospitalized 5 days in a row, his office refused to squeeze me in and wouldnt see me for a month. If the doctor is truly that busy, then that's fine, but I just cant see a doctor that refuses to see established patients who are having emergency level symptoms. When his office refused to see me, I sent him images, which he said he couldn't read and suggested I wait until my liver starts to fail before I remove my gallbladder. Needless to say, I found another doctor who was able to see me quickly and help. Take the feedback for what is is - if you just need a basic colonoscopy, then I highly recommend him. If you need a doctor who will help you resolve/solve/diagnose issues, I'd search elsewhere.

I was referred to Dr. Nordstrom by a PA who is a patient of his, because he was impressed with him…read morerelating to his first colonoscopy procedure. I have had gastro issues in the past, plus I knew I was due for a first colonoscopy, so I had a bunch of very specific questions for my first office visit. Dr. Nordstrom's assisting doctor - whose name I unfortunately cannot recall - came in to see me first & get all my info. She was so sweet & patient, and encouraged me to ask all my questions so she could relay them to the doctor. Shortly after she left, Dr. N returned with her and answered all my questions in full. Which made me realize how detailed he is, and she was - too. I don't want to tmi you, so I'll spare you the details, and just skip to saying that the solutions Dr. N recommended worked wonders for me. I am very grateful! A few months after this office visit, I went in to the UCLA SM hospital location for my first colonoscopy. The office had given me the detailed prep instructions & prescription when I was there, so I was ready. The prep was fine, and I was able to do all my pre-procedure paperwork online. Checking in on arrival was easy, and everyone was warm and friendly - which I appreciated since I was stressed, like I'm sure most are at their first colonoscopy. Getting an IV is always the most stressful part for me. My veins are deep & difficult to find, so I clearly explained this to the 2 nurses who came to insert my IV. The more senior nurse was inserting a 24-gauge needle into my vein, & instructing the less senior nurse as she did it. She got it in, but then shortly afterwards said it blew my vein. I could tell something was up because it was painful. Only after that happened, thecmore senior nurse called over an even more senior nurse who used a 22-gauge needle to successfully get my IV started - in another vein in a more sensitive area - and a second puncture for me. This nurse explained to the first 2 nurses that a 22-gauge is better to use with deep veins like mine. Getting stuck twice was a painful, stressful & teary experience for me - on top of the stress of being there for my first colonoscopy. Because I had so clearly explained that I have challenging veins from the very beginning, I wish they would have called over that most senior nurse FIRST, rather than have me endure two painful punctures. After hearing the nurses discuss that using a different needle gauge than the first attempt was the better option for a successful IV insertion for me, it was clear that I was not fully heard from the beginning, which was frustrating. The IV insertion was my biggest issue with the whole procedure. Dr. Nordstrom on the other hand, greeted me before the procedure & remembered to ask me how I'd been faring with the recommendations he had made for me when I saw him in his office months previous. So nice to have that continuity! The colonoscopy went fine & Dr. Nordstrom gave me my results & lovely pics of my insides when I woke up. The recovery nurses were warm, and everything else was smooth. If it weren't for the IV insertion experience, the whole procedure would have been so much lower stress for me. I highly recommend Dr. Nordstrom for anyone's gastroenterology and colonoscopy needs. He is very detailed, and I truly appreciate him!
