The characteristics that you should look for in a vet and veterinary clinic are the same ones you…read moreshould look for in a doctor and a doctors office: caring, empathy, support, knowledge, communication and the ability to meet with a professional both for routine and urgent care. North Florida Animal Hospital has all this and more in abundance. Our cats have been using their services for over 10 years. And each time we have been back for a scheduled checkup we feel like family who have come back for a visit. The reception and technical team are friendly and efficient. And the vets are knowledge, caring and personable. Dr Steele had cared for our cats for years, and it is clear that she not only loves her job, but that she also loves her patients. When one of our cats died a few years ago, her sadness and compassion were evident. Now that our second cat is having issues, at the age of 17, we have again turned to her for advice and assistance. She treats our cat like he was her own and has made sure that we know exactly what is happening. In fact, she is the one who has called to tell us lab results and she's taken the time to meet with us when we brought him in for overnight treatment. We trust her, the other vets, and the team with the most vulnerable members of our family. And they could not be in better hands. I'm so glad that they are the team who takes care of, and is now caring for, our pets.

At this time as we speak I have been waiting in my car for 25 minutes for the syrupy voice on the phone to make good on her promise to come out and get him, in case his cough is contagious. Sio many people either have told me to switch vet offices, or they never heard of this place.

I arrived in Tally 12 years ago with five dogs and one cat. I initially went to two different vet…read moreoffices other than Novey Animal Hospital (NAH) and the care received elsewhere was good, but the business practices were not to my liking. I have stayed with NAH ever since my first visit and that makes it ten years. Sadly, I had to say goodbye to the last pet of the original six recently, and Dr. Novey was her usual exceptional self and helped my little guy and me get through it. I cannot recommend Dr. Novey, Dr. Hall, Dr. Winters and Dr. Scarpinato enough. The NAH staff is amazing and the facility is always clean. Some of the staff has been there since the first day I arrived and to me, that says a lot about how Dr. Novey manages her staff and business. There are always a few kitties available to adopt and I appreciate how NAH helps these rescue animals find a forever home. One kitty I adopted had been there for over six months needing serious care, including surgeries and an eventual limb amputation. The patient care records I received for him is pages and pages and pages long! The amount of care and cost they put into saving him was enormous! If that alone is not an indication of the team dedication at NAH to animal care, I do not know what else to say!! Medical care for pets is expensive similarly to getting medical care for yourself without insurance. I found myself in a tight financial squeeze between jobs and with a sick pet; NAH put me on a payment schedule, so I know if you are a client that may be an option. If you are looking for a great veterinarian practice in Tallahassee, do yourself and your pets a favor and drop in at NAH!

This was once a great vet practice but something changed about 6 years ago or so…read more Every routine visit turns into an expensive adventure, it's like they are desperate to make money. Getting our dog diagnosed with a rash was $700+. They prescribed a lot of medicines, one actually worked and actually says 'long-term use' on the prescription. The catch is, we have to take the dog in for an unnecessary exam and extra testing for every refill. Nickel and dimeing pet owners to death. Sad because they took such good care of our previous dog, but that was 12 years ago. We're going somewhere else.

I cannot overstate how much I appreciate this vet office. My dog had teeth extracted today. I went…read morein and said, "Can we please, like, write in capital letters 'NO GABAPENTIN' on her file because she has a bad reaction?" And they did! No placating, no empty promises. She took a pen and wrote it. It was incredibly validating. Also, they accidentally overcharged me for something, and THEY called ME to alert me to this. I would've never noticed. They alerted me and credited my account. They're so honest! 10/10 recommend this practice. Couldn't ask for more.

WARNING: If you have any anxious breed or dog at the vet do NOT see Patrick Vickers (pictured)…read more Patrick Vickers shouldn't be a Vet is he's not willing to work with heavily sedated anxious dogs who deserves to not be dismissed by impatient and unwilling doctors. The solution is always more sedatives, but even when my dog was heavily sedated on two medications and could barely walk up the stairs all day, Patrick Vickers dismissed us. He heard one small bark form my heavily sedated muzzled dog who was just frightened and shivering in a corner. He refused to care for him or even attempt to walk anywhere near my dog for no real reason. The third time with little to no attempt. Please know I will do everything in my power to let people with pit bull mixes and anxious dogs know they should NOT see Patrick Vickers. Do not waste your time it has been months of constant attempts at getting basic routine care only for your dog to be discriminated against. Please learn and do better because the one who suffers the most will be your poor dog.
