We moved to the Denver area from the San Francisco Bay Area over the summer. I found Larry online while looking for realtors. His site was truly informative - including frank descriptions of some of the more popular areas on the Front Range. I found the information to be really helpful, as a person moving from California with zero exposure to Denver, it gave me a sense of the place. So, I contacted Larry and scheduled a tour with him during my 2-day trip to preview the area.
Larry was fantastic. He started out by taking me on a broad area tour. He spent seven hours with me over the course of two days taking me to every major area of Denver and parts south that are within reasonable commuting distance from work. As we toured we reviewed housing prices and styles of each area - as well as lifestyle. It's important to know the difference between Highlands Ranch and The Highlands, eg!
After we got situated in our temporary housing in the Denver area, Larry took me and my husband on numerous house tours, getting a better sense of both the areas that called to us, as well as the housing styles that worked for us. I'm much more of a traditionalist, preferring older homes with quaint details. My husband likes modern features. Eventually, we were able to pin down the areas and styles that worked for us. Larry was a consummate professional the entire way through.
We finally found the ***perfect*** house for us, matching our aesthetic desires, price point and pitch-perfect neighborhood for family living (little kids, pets, etc). Larry's expertise and frank perspective and understanding of present market conditions made him an invaluable resource in the negotiation and closing.
One of the things I learned about relocations is that agents who often pitch themselves as "relocation experts" are really just people so new to the game that they don't have a strong enough client roster to market in their area. Since moving to Denver, we've made friends with another family that had just relocated here. They, too, were in a corporate relocation process. Unfortunately, their agent was one of these newer agents who'd pitched herself as a "relo expert" simply because she was new to real estate. Our friends ended up doing all of their own house hunting, never got an area tour, were literally shooting blind knowing nothing about the neighborhoods and regions they were looking at. The agent only showed them houses that they'd randomly picked off of internet searches. In the end, they've settled on a home in an area that doesn't suit their lifestyles simply because it matched their price point and number of bedrooms necessary. I'm certain had they had Larry Hotz on their side, they'd be in a much more satisfactory neighborhood and also have the peace of mind ***knowing*** they've found the perfect spot for themselves.
I'm not normally one to write gushy platitudes in reviews, but seriously, Larry Hotz is THE BEST REALTOR you could possibly ask for. I can say this with great assurance, especially after comparing our experience here, working with him, versus our home purchasing process in California, which took several years and during which we worked with at least 5 agents. I hope I never move again, but if I do and if it's within Larry's realm, I will use him again unhesitatingly.
