    Diana P.

For over 35 years T.K.F.T. Karate Studio has been in business in the City of Pico Rivera. Under the direction of Sensei David Torres, with 48 years of experience in the Martial Arts; taking pride in promoting over 100 Black Belts. Classes are offered to both Children & Adults.- Beginners, Intermediate and Advance. Students will learn self-defense, self-assurance, self-confidence and most important self-discipline. For children, other areas covered are: checking report cards, discussion on the importance of staying in school and staying away from gangs & drugs. By channeling their energy into a positive avenue, they will study and learn the Art of Kenpo Karate. For more information, please contact Sensei David Torres @ (562) 949-2737

I really liked this place. My daughter & niece came came here for karate classes during the summer. The classes are very reasonably priced and the discipline and confidence it instilled in my daughter was awesome. Sir and ma'am are really patient with the children and keep them motivated. They emphasize education, too which was a nice plus. I'm so grateful. The only drawback was that it gets pretty hot in there in the summer. The uniforms - Gi's - are long sleeved and black and it's like an oven in there. The girls ended up so sweaty and red-faced. Sometimes we worried that they'd pass out from the heat. My sister ended up having to treat them to ice cream after every class which wasn't healthy. Another thing, I work and classes for kids are either at 3 or 4pm. My sister was able to take the girls during summer but when my daughter wanted to continue karate she just couldn't as there are no later classes or weekend classes. Too bad. This is the nearest Martial Arts studio to us. If you have the time, I highly recommend them.

Their work ethics and personalities are, in my opinion, some of the best in the industry. I had a wonderful experience at this location when I enrolled my son to learn karate, and I want to share my thoughts. Firstly, I was impressed by the school's approach to new students. They let my son train on the mat with one of the senseis before signing up and committing to payment. This was a great way to ensure that my son was comfortable with the program. Sensei Berj, in particular, was kind and explained the different entry packages and pricing options to us before we made a decision. I also appreciated how the school assigns kids to groups with equal belt levels. This made it easier for my son to adjust and get comfortable with the program. The instructors not only teach karate but also instill values such as respect, kindness, and responsibility in the students. They go above and beyond to create a positive environment for everyone. In conclusion, I can honestly say that this dojo is fantastic, and I could write a 5-page essay on how great it is. If you are looking for a great karate school, I highly recommend giving Jeff Speakman's Kempo 5.0 a chance. You won't be disappointed! A special thanks to Sensei Jose and Sensei Andy, you guys are changing the world for the positive.

**Kenmex Karate: Where My Boys Became Mini Ninjas!**…read more If you're looking for a place to turn your wild little monkeys into disciplined mini ninjas, look no further than Kenmex Karate in Downey. Sensei Masias is the magical unicorn of martial arts instructors. He took my three boys - yes, THREE - and transformed them from chaos incarnate into focused, respectful, and surprisingly quiet little warriors. Walking into Kenmex Karate, you instantly feel the energy. It's like stepping into a dojo from a Jackie Chan movie, minus the dramatic slow-motion fight scenes (but give my boys a few more months, and who knows?). Sensei Masias has the patience of a saint and the wisdom of a sage, mixed with just the right amount of humor to keep the kids engaged and the parents entertained. My eldest was a skeptic, thinking he'd be the next Bruce Lee after one class. Fast forward a few months, and he's learned the value of hard work and perseverance. My middle child, who previously thought the best defense was to hide behind a couch, now confidently breaks boards (well, okay, thin ones). And the youngest, our resident ball of energy, has found a way to channel his inner Tasmanian Devil into disciplined kata forms. Sensei Masias doesn't just teach karate; he instills life lessons. My boys have learned respect, discipline, and the importance of teamwork. They now bow before meals, greet strangers with a respectful "osu," and can tie their belts faster than they tie their shoes. To all the parents out there considering karate for their kids, do yourself a favor and check out Kenmex Karate. Your sanity will thank you, your kids will flourish, and you'll gain a few laugh lines from Sensei Masias' witty humor. It's a win-win-win. Thank you, Sensei Masias, for turning my rambunctious trio into disciplined young warriors. We are forever grateful (and slightly less stressed). Osu!
