This business just wants to take a deposit and run a Hollywood hustle. I reached out for information and they want a deposit before they ever give you a date. Red flag #1 When you want to cancel even if it's a week in advance, they keep your deposit and make you shoot with him within 8 months Red flag #2. You should not have to shoot with someone if you no longer feel comfortable. I think that's ridiculous. They also never answer the phone so you can ask you the proper questions which is what made me uncomfortable to shoot. Just full of it. If you want headshots for work, go someone else. Catrina, the assistant helps this business take deposits and not shoot. She is extremely rude and wrong all the time. She gave me back my deposit when I cancelled then a week later texted me saying I had a shoot. When I called she told me to text. When I texted, she told me to email. It's a game. This review isn't about David's headshots, as I am currently scheduled to take them (and very excited to do so I might add) but haven't yet done so. I'm writing this 5 STAR review about another part of David's service, his scheduling manager, Catrina. I originally contacted David via his web booking questionnaire back on May 31st, 2020 to schedule a headshot session. I received an email the following day from Catrina, his scheduling manager, with all of the info on what she needed to get me scheduled. We set a date for early June, I paid a deposit, and boom -- we were all set to go. Then of course this awful pandemic continue to rage in California so I canceled the initial date and rescheduled for later in the month. I rescheduled again, then again, then again... THEN AGAIN. It is now August 24th. You would assume at this point that Catrina would have gotten super annoyed and just told me to f**k off, that they no longer needed my business. However, this was not the case. Instead, she has been incredibly understanding, kind, and extremely flexible with all of my annoying changes and requests. I have a new session date booked, which may change again due to a recent job booking, and again, instead of getting annoyed, she congratulated me on the new gig! Now, like I said before, I still have yet to shoot with David, but if his work is any reflection of the people he hires to work for him, then I know I'm due to receive the best headshots I've ever taken in my career. If you're in the market for new headshots, this is the place to go. We went there 3 weeks ago and ended up with beautiful photos that are getting my son more auditions than ever. The first day his team used them for submissions, he got called in for a producer's session. David's work stands out. His shots are vibrant and draw your eye - and they will make you look your best. He's a master of composition, texture and lighting. Even the guys at the print shop we use (who see tons of headshots daily) immediately asked me who took the photos. Here's what I thought was really impressive about the experience overall: 1. When you arrive, they spend time talking to you about the types of characters you portray. Then they help you pick out every single outfit for each look. When we didn't have exactly the right piece of clothing for one look, David even went into his own stash to help achieve the best image. They get into detail here: at one point, we were even discussing whether or not to keep the drawstrings visible on my son's hoodie! 2. Hair and makeup is exceptional. My son has fair skin and fine wavy/curly hair that can be tricky to style. Tara Shakespeare made him look wonderful without looking "made up" and his hair looked better than ever before. I even got some tips on how to style it at home, which will help so much! 2. Expect lots of direction when in front of the camera. My son hates taking photos, but he actually enjoyed this session - and you can really see it in the photos. David told him exactly what to do and he felt more at ease than ever before. 3. You will be able to see the photos on a large computer screen as they are taken. 4. David's attention to detail is without exception. I knew we were in the right place when David stopped only a minute or two into the photo session to have Tara fix a single curl that was out of place. The *only* con is that you end up with so many beautiful shots, it can be hard to choose! One word of advice: plan to schedule your session a few weeks to a month in advance of when you need your new photos. He does have a waitlist though and we ended up getting in after about 2 weeks of waiting. read more

I got some serious photo-magick happening now from working with David Muller. He has that certain something, that magic touch to bring out the unique and beautiful personal essence we all have lurking within. That is an artist. I admit I was ready for my session, having done everything I could to surpass my personal best in this new round of headshots (yes, I'm *that* person: bikram yoga, good food only, type-A to the max). So my standards are up there. At the same time, I love to have a good time!! And it was seriously fun and EASY working with David and his awesome makeup artist that day. While I've gotten various photos done in the past, I'm no veteran at getting my headshots done. In fact, I always felt a bit stiff and not entirely natural feeling like I had to "look" a certain way. Working with David blew whatever fears I had out of the water. I simply said I was still trying to figure out this headshot-thing, since it is something you get better at over time, and he was like, alright no worries, and then we all proceeded to have a ball and came out with beautiful headshots that, by FAR, exceeded my previous set (which was done by a very well-known and much pricier photographer). Including makeup/hair, we did 3 looks in just over 3 hours, i think. Also one thing that sets his photos apart from others are colors. He's not afraid of color, but will give you his informed opinion on wardrobe styles, cuts, along with color, to help you be mindful of the "message" you're putting out there. I think it's always a matter of finding someone you vibe with, and voicing any concerns or questions you may have, and then above all else, knowing what you want and trusting in that. If you know what you want (in this case, headshots-to-die-for) that's it. Just show up with the best side of you, and David's such a cool guy, he'll make your true beauty shine. I've shot with everyone. EVERYONE in Los Angeles. Finally the Universe showed me David Muller's Studio. His studio is BEAUTIFUL. It's huge, it's clean, it's awesome, and they gave me tea. I love caffeine. The makeup artist Nichole is the best makeup artist in the world. I didn't even need retouching really. I just asked for like one stray hair removed. That never happens. She is magic. I also got the photos back and retouched by their team in like 2 1/2 days. It was so fast and they were perfection. David, rocks. He takes his time, I loved his backgrounds, and he knows his STUFF. He made sure I liked what was happening, which was so nice. i love when a photographer shows me the images during the shoot. It gave me time to realize I needed to amp up my energy for one of the looks. It helped a lot and gave me time to get the right character feel. I can go on and on about how great the shots were. But I'll do one better. I went from ZERO auditions to 3 National Commercial auditions, 1 lifestyle print audition, and one commercial callback, all in 1 month. So not only are they amazing photos. Shooting with David is an honest no brainer. The man is a wizard. He knows his cameras and most importantly not only does he know headshots, but he is an actual photographer. So often you find yourself getting headshots from people that don't understand actual photography. Not the case with David. He's very friendly, I arrived early and he went through my clothes thoroughly with me making sure I was happy with the looks that I was putting together for my session. Emma, his makeup artist is a full on princess. She did my hair and makeup and stayed with me through the entire shoot making sure I always looked to the nines. I even had a few unusual requests to try and she completely went for it and we had a lot of fun. In fact, she is at this point my favorite MUA that I've ever worked with. Amazing woman and very good at what she does. The studio space itself is big, clean, airy, and full of stuff to play with. David knowns exactly what he wants to do the second he starts looking at you and he doesn't go after the images he is looking for, he aggressively pursues the images that you want! This is very important, because we aren't photographers, so what we want can be very difficult to find. A photographer must figure out what will make you happy, while making sure it is an images that will also fit within the confines of a powerful headshot. David does this in spades. Will definitely be coming back in the future and I don't even know the point of rating his work since the star scale doesn't go as high as I would like it to. I recently got my headshots done with David and am very happy that I chose him to shoot with! David is very professional and really knows his stuff. I was having a bit of trouble at first trying to smile good and be serious but he offered so many great tips and ways to angle myself in order to not make my expressions look so forced. He even changed the background a lot and played a lot of good music throughout the shoot which really helped me feel comfortable. I got my hair and makeup done through one of his make up artists, Nichole G and am super glad I did. Not only did she keep my makeup looking fresh throughout the whole shoot she brought my hair to life haha What I really was happy about too was that throughout my whole shoot she was on the side fixing any issues with my hair or make up. I had the best shoot and am happy that he was very patient with me and did not rush me at all. He really took the time to make sure we got shots that I liked. I also received my proofs the next day and am still having the hardest time picking out which ones I want to use for auditions. For anyone looking to get new headshots go to David! I've worked with photographers all over the US, who've been great, but David Muller, is by far the best! David went above and beyond to make sure I was getting exactly what I needed. He worked super fast, gave tons of direction, and was so fun to work with. It felt more like hanging out and laughing with a friend, than a photoshoot, which is great in my book! Nichole was my hair and makeup artist and she was amazing. I'm extremely picky when it comes to how my hair and makekup are done, but I couldn't have been happier with her work. She nailed it for all of my individual looks. Everything was extremely natural and fresh on camera. If you're going to invest in proper headshots, invest in hair and makeup with Nichole, you will not regret it! David and Nichole did such amazing work that my photos could've gone without any retouching. Seriously, all 600 of my proofs were stellar! However, I opted for retouching and the changes were minimal, but made a world of difference at making my pictures really stand out. Eric was the wonderful person who retouched my images. From my experience with other studios, I expected to wait at least a week or two for my final images. No, Eric had them to me THE NEXT DAY and they were flawless! Eric's work is so good that you can't even tell they were retouched at all. Oh and to get in quicker, I took advantage of the cancellation list David's studio offers and I got in a lot sooner than anticipated. Catrina is who I frequently corresponded with and she was so helpful and was always quick to respond. Thank you so much David, Catrina, Nichole, and Eric for everything! I can't say enough about David Muller photography. After a lengthy absence from the business, I was nervous about taking pictures. From the moment I arrived, I was put completely at ease. I have been looking for the "best headshot photographer" in LA for the past several months-determined to skip the cheap photo sessions with mediocre photographers, and invest wisely into my career. David's work was the best I found via research, and my session experience was as high of quality as his photos represent. Everything ran smoothly- from pulling up to the driveway, to the end-of-session handshakes. My session began promptly on the hour with makeup artist Kate. Kate did an OUTSTANDING job with my make up. I'm a guy, so I of course did not want the makeup to take the masculinity away from my looks. Kate whipped up a facial enhancement that brought the best out of my face. And here's the kicker-I'm now considering using her method on the regular because I loved her work. She was on deck during my session, re-touching my makeup and adjusting wardrobe. David gave great direction on poses, facial expressions, and the like, making it very simple to get the "money shot" in each of my three looks. He made sure I was happy with how the session was going periodically. He and Kate both urged me to inform them if I wasn't happy in any way. David also gave me forewarning about his next client (female) who would be coming in during the middle of my session to start her makeup. (Because her makeup would take a while longer to apply, naturally) In no way did this interrupt or rush my session, and I appreciated the heads up. David showed me a few shots on his camera and they looked INCREDIBLE. No re-touching, or editing, just raw photos. I can't wait to see the final product. Search no longer for your photographer. I recently got my headshots taken with David and had the best experience! My last headshot session (with a different photographer) was awful and I was admittedly frightened about going anywhere, but David put me at ease and I had a lot of fun. He was easy to talk to and helped me figure out my perfect wardrobe in a matter of moments. Kate, his make up artist, was lovely and patient with my darn watery eyes. We chatted away as she made me look amazing and just like my everyday self even though we'd never met before. The music was great and kept me dancing in between background changes (which I had a lot of say in). I have never felt like I was able to speak up and say what I really wanted for a shoot before, but David and Kate were very kind and never took offense, in fact, encouraged me to give my own opinion. The shots themselves are so great I'm still trying to decide which I like best! His prices are cheap for the quality of photos you're gonna get (your eyes will kill in every shot), so it was worth waiting the two months since he was all booked up (another sign you know he's good). I debated if I should write this review or not. David is amazing. His photos are the best I've ever had. They're so good that my agent convinced me to go back to these photos, even after having new ones taken by a lesser photographer. He's professional, easy to work with, gives you space to play to bring out your personality, has a beautiful professional studio (if you're tired of shooting in photographer's backyards). My problem is: there is often a wait to shoot with David. He's so good that you might have to wait a month or more to book your session. You might get lucky and get something sooner, but that was my experience. I didn't want to tell anyone about David because the next time I shoot with him I don't want to have to wait for my session because you people have him booked years in advance. read more

I HATE getting headshots done - hate it! I know most actors do too but I really do hate it. I have to say this was the most painless expierence ever! David is amazing at what he does and gives very good direction (which I needed). My shots are absolutley gorgeous and it didn't take all day. They also have an in house re toucher so I was able to get the final images back really quickly. I was surprised how easy it felt. The only negative is that David is a Phillidelphia Eagles fan. My recent shoot with David was awesome! He is professional, creative, fun and is able to get this shy actor to deliver! My talent manager referred me to David 2 years ago and it was the first time I ever had fun taking head shots. For the last 2 years I haven't had to worry about getting additional looks or updating my shots. This past September I changed my look from a blonde to a red head, I immediately went to David. I just had an amazing headshot session with David! I made an appointment a few months before hand and flew down from Seattle for our shoot after seeing the beautiful portfolio that he has up on his website. I was a little nervous, as I've worked with photographers before based off of what I saw on their site but did not get the same results. No issues with David, though! He lets you check in on the images as he's taking them, so you can see how great they are in real time! I was seriously blown away from the first few images, but it kept getting better. He provided me with over 450 shots on a thumb drive as well as through an online proof sheet on Reproductions. It's been hard to pick my favorites because I love them all! These photos have so much character, depth, and warmth to them. David knows how to capture your best self, and he is wonderful about guiding you to that look or pose. His lighting is spectacular and he has a wide range of backgrounds that he easily swaps to give you a unique looking shot that goes well with your skin tone and clothing.
