Our overall experience showed that she is argumentative, lacks professionalism/customer service and heavily leans into her "unobtrusive" photography style, which in my opinion was very amateur and seems like an excuse to not take initiative. I would like to note that we had an engagement shoot with her prior that was not problematic at all and delivered great photos, but our wedding day was another story. To start, we found Sam's casual nature was something to look forward to and create ease on our wedding day. However, that was not the case. Her "lax" attitude resulted in no sense of photography direction and a lack of completion on things I had asked for. That would not have been a problem if we had received a gallery that was worth our investment of almost $6,000. Disappointment came when we received our gallery and I saw -she missed the flat lay/detail photos I asked for on the day of -she took only 1 crooked off-center photo of our first kiss -our portraits included bridesmaids heads floating in the frame because their bodies were cut out of frame -and some portraits where my eyes are not fully open or even closed. These are just the main complaints we had. I reached out to Sam and her initial response was to look through her photos again and resolve some issues, which is what I had expected. She was able to resolve issues on the last two issues listed but that was it. In response, I thanked her for her efforts but in continued disappointment I didn't feel she was taking responsibility for the things she missed and could not go back to do. She placed all blame on our coordinator/planner because it was supposedly her job to remind her of all those things because Sam"has so much in [her] head on wedding days". Sam said it was the coor./plan. responsibility to facilitate our portraits and set up flat lay photos for her to take, plus she said she is "not liable for me not looking in her camera" (What?!) If you hire her, make sure your coor./plan. is there to direct Sam for everything and don't take your eyes off her lens or blink for even a second! In following emails, I continued to thank her for some beautiful photos but for her price I couldn't help but feel disappointed. These photos did not represent the example galleries I had seen through her emails and website. Long story short... She was very unprofessional and accused me of bullying her because I had pushed back on those things being her responsibility. I never asked for a refund because she did show up on time and is in a creative industry, but simply for RAW photos so I could see if there were any pictures I liked more, after all I was the one filtering through our gallery and pointing out the pictures that had issues anyway. Instead of having good customer service she asked for more money. We sought advice from our wedding vendors, and fellow vendors we know and all agreed with us, the work shown on her social media/website did not line up with the gallery delivered to us. We even talked to a lawyer who stated her contract is written in an odd & unprofessional way, but she does have a creative clause that protects her from even the biggest mistakes. Unfortunately, Sam has protected herself well with her contract and was persistent that since she delivered a gallery at all, she completed her job. My husband and I decided to view our investment in Samantha as a loss and move on because her argumentative and unprofessional attitude was disappointing and upsetting. Looking back, I find her style to be unpredictable and would not spend our hard earned money banking on her capturing our once in a lifetime day for that price and would definitely run from her newly listed high price that has gone up thousands of dollars in under a year.

So we've had quite a journey together and we like to think of Brittany as part of the family at this point! From the very beginning, she made us feel comfortable in front of the camera. He was also featured on various issues of wedding mags, such as the infamous Martha Stewart Weddings and The Knot, just the name a few. Max is a creative genius when it comes to capturing a couple on camera. My fiance and I (me, especially!) are kind of uncomfortable in front of the camera, but having such a calm and comfortable photographer such as Max (and his lovely wife, Margaux...a fine duo!) REALLY helped ease the embarassment. Max & Margaux are so easy going and a gem to work with. We recently received our engagement photos back and shed a tear (or two)! Every piece is a piece of art! Max sure knows how to capture the emotions of each couple he shoots. If you are looking for something more artsy with your engagement session and wedding, Max is the ticket! I'm sure this review isn't even necessary as Max's reputation precedes him, but I figured I'd write…read moreone just in case anyone out there still needs convincing that they should absolutely work with Max any chance they get- for a wedding or editorial etc. He and his wife Margaux were my wedding photographers and I am grateful that I hired them and they accepted! His work speaks for itself, it's pure art and it's gorgeous. He has an uncanny ability to capture the best of what is in his environment in a way that feels authentic and like you're seeing it through your own eyes- nothing staged or contrived. I am an art director, so photography was one of my highest priorities. I cried (happy tears!) the day our harddrive with all of our photos arrived. I knew they would be beautiful, but they were even better than I could have imagined! In addition to producing the most gorgeous images, both Max and Margaux are two of the most lovely and wonderful people you'll ever meet/ work with. There were a lot of complications with my wedding- it was out of the country (in Tulum, Mexico) and our coordinator took our money and ran, leaving us two months out from the wedding date. We had to re-plan everything and change venues in less than two months (by the time we went down to Mexico and found a new coordinator) and the stress levels could not have been higher. Max and Margaux were very understanding and even volunteered to help in any way they could. They are very flexible when it comes to logistics are are really willing to do whatever works best for you within reason. The day of the wedding our power kept going out and I couldn't get ready on time. I was a wreck! Max and Margaux arrived and I was a super stress case, but their very zen like demeanors helped me calm down and I was able to enjoy the process or our portrait session. I applaud them for that! So really, I don't know how it could get any better- the best pictures you'll ever see combined with two of the loveliest people you'll ever meet. I can't wait to see more of their work for years to come and only hope work with them again someday.

She was punctual for our appointment and had great ideas for shots for our family portraits. She was receptive to our ideas for different poses and scenery, and she didn't make us feel rushed at all. We had her undivided attention throughout our session, and she was very accommodating. She is friendly and professional. We received our photos promptly two weeks after our session. They were absolutely stunning! We love all of our photos and immediately ordered our holiday cards with them. I cannot say more positive things about Matilda.
