They sell a good range of styles and have a good range of prices to match. I've bought a few things from HPJ and they've always been OK for the price but not lasted very long. If you want an item to match an outfit then this is a good place, but don't expect to purchase a family heirloom here.

The owner is somewhat eccentric, telling many a tale about his life and the history of the local area but it all adds to the charm of the shop, which stands out amongst the other local jewellers (of which there are quite a few). Despite his eccentricity, he is still very knowledgeable and has given me great assistance and advice on many visits. I have been there on a few occasions for watch repairs, as well as browsing their products, and have found their service to be remarkably prompt, usually repairing my items in a couple of hours if they have time. The other members of staff there are always polite, friendly and ready to assist at all times as well, meaning going to A J Rogers is always a pleasant experience, whether you buy anything or not.

Two less than…read moreable men who do not give out receipts when you leave your jewellery with them, who 'faff' about, are 'indirect', and when faced with a complaint, take the 'defensive mode' rather than being professional and curteous and apologetic for their gross failings as a 'repairer' of jewellery. I had a bad feeling as I entered the shop and wish I had taken note of my obvious correct intuition. I paid £29 for two small repairs to a gold necklace and a gold bracelet. I picked them up after more than 10 days of the jewellers having them - getting no confirmation that they were ready (i had to ring them) and then, after wearing them for no more than 5 hours, the bracelet dropped off my wrist (luckily I was indoors) and i couldn't believe that it had broke. I immediately felt wary about my necklace and as i undone the clasp, that broke too. I rang the shop and told them and they said to bring the items in, they would look at them and make 'their' appropriate verdict on what to do. I said I wanted a refund. I returned to the shop and the older man was less than apologetic or understanding and said I would have to leave the items with them and they would make their decision. I had to demand they deal with me there and then and make a refund. I was told i would have to wait as they were in the middle of another job that could not wait. I ensured they gave me receipts for leaving the items in their care. I would not leave the shop. I heard laughter from behind the scenes as they both disappeared. The younger man came forth and told me he would have to take the gold bolt clasp off that they had repaired... i asked if my original would be put back on - he replied 'you'll get one similar', I was unhappy about this, to which he replied, 'the world doesn't stop for you to get what you want'. Disgraceful trading. Avoid this shop.

Jeeves offer an engraving service which is very reasonably priced. The ornate lettering is stunning and can transform a relatively mundane gift into an invaluable possession. I have given and received several items engraved by Jeeves over the years, which range from compact mirrors and lipstick cases to hairbrushes and spoons and the standard has been consistently high. I recently had a number of small jewellery pieces of sentimental value converted into bracelet charms. Surely as being a professional high end watch repair establishment, cleaning your work should be paramount. Maybe you should take more time on your job than your personal life. Since I have previously not had any problems with watches, only that the occasional battery needs changing, I seldom have to visit the Watch Lab unless I'm really desperate to rescue a watch otherwise I could just buy a new watch as that could actually save money. In other words, the service is sometimes pricier than going to buy a new watch (especially if you own an inexpensive watch). The prices aren't cost-effective even for the simple tasks such as replacing a battery or strap but the price all depends on the model of watch or type of strap (as they offer different kinds of material). If you are just looking to have a battery replaced, I would suggest a small watch kiosk corner in St. Johns Precinct not far from the seafood section; this will only cost around £4-5. However, if it's a technical issue regarding your favourite (and expensive) watch, then you may want to consider here.

Therefore it was not somewhere that a city dweller like myself would really need to visit - the closest to roughing it I am likely to come is chasing urban foxes from the lawn or deciphering graffiti on the train. However such a view has dismissed the range of quality items that Fossil offer - albeit still very much in this manly, explorer type fashion. The watches and sunglasses in particular are good, sturdy and practical and nothing bright or flimsy looking. However checks and beige are trends that dominate the clothes.
