Earlswood is packed full of little independent businesses, all set out in an old fashioned farm…read morevillage. Earlswood Interiors & Crafts in particular is one of the shops in this collection that truly maintains a unique feel, taking customers back to a bygone era surrounded with a love for handcrafted items. The shop aesthetics are all about the amazing, long-forgotten tradition of wood carving furniture. And for me, this artistic skill beats any cheaply mass-produced house items every time. It's so lovely to find out that places like this still exist, and more so, places that encourage customers themselves to have a go at making their own furniture/ornaments. That's right, the company aren't just selling their products, they're also a little workshop for budding creative people. When entering the small, cosy little shop, the smell of fresh wood immediately hit me. It's one of my favourite smells, and really captures my imagination. Exploring the shelves, I uncovered little wooden mice, mushrooms and owls, which all had unique features urging me to purchase them. If I had enough room at home, the carvings would all be sitting on the table next to me now as I write this review. But unfortunately, I had to leave them back at the shop until I make some space through my own clutter. The shop also sells bigger items, from walking sticks to tables and chairs, which have all been unusually and affectionally created. This little place deserves all the support it can get. Why not transmit the handcrafted passion and bring some character to your own home. I'm certain you won't regret it.

Even though they buy in a lot of products they also make a good few. Here they specialise in glass merchandising and glazing. The shop acted as a nice show room for the mirrors and some windows. They did have some nice frames and various styles. So I'm sure there's a style to suit everyone. I couldn't believe how much the mirrors where. They were priced at around £100.00!! For a simple yet nice design they really weren't worth this much. I could probably find something much cheaper elsewhere and spend the money on more useful things. The glazing and windows were much more reasonably priced and if I ever needed a new window I'd consider coming here again.

There's something old-world like about this row of shops where every shop sells one thing and one thing only; a charming antithesis to big homestore shopping. In these shops you know the owner is going to have good product knowledge. and the time to serve you. Of course there's the lovely smell of new wool carpet in here, and I'm tempted to buy some floor-coverings; It's the carpet shop equivalent of wanting to buy the house that's up for sale because the sellers have put a pot of coffee on. The carpets in here are mainly simple colours, but what a lot there are. Many people want simple neutral colours, but when there are 24 shades, then exactly which beige will you choose? The supply isn't limited to 'easy' tones though. There are blues, red, burgundies, and every shade of the forest. Once you've decided on a shade you can then choose from a range of twists. The owner tells me that the twist is how the pile lies on the carpet. Here you can buy Boutique Twist, Farmhouse Twist, Urban Twist, Revival Twist and more. So many twists you'll be making like Chubby Checker.

The store is fairly large inside and stocks a variety of different items for home and garden as you would expect. I like the fact that the staff are helpful and friendly in here and I think that it makes such a difference compared to the, sometimes rather intimidating staff at the big chain DIY stores. They always ask me if I need any help or advice in here and they seem to genuinely want to help their customers. I have found that the prices are fairly cheap for a DIY store too, which is always a bonus. I would recommend this to anyone in the local area!

A deceptively large store once you get inside, the name may initially sound like it's bitten off a bit more than it can chew, but it certainly makes a very good go at it. Numerous times I've been in looking to pick up one thing or another, and (unlike U2) have always found what I'm looking for. From plants to power tools and flooring to light fittings, you can assume that if you're looking for something in terms of DIY, Dennings will probably have it. Better yet, the shop has a charming, local feel, a much more pleasant atmosphere than the soulless chains, and the staff are always knowledgeable and helpful. Highly recommended.
