Dr. Hiroshima is, without a doubt, the best PCP that I have had. In a world where doctors are usually running behind and patients often feel rushed, it was refreshing to meet a doctor who was patient, knowledgeable, caring and genuinely interested in the well-being of his patients. I first met Dr. Hiroshima at the IHH a few years ago for a lingering health condition. As I was researching doctors, Dr. Hiroshima's profile stood out because he had years of clinical experience, had been educated at Stanford Medicine and had a sports background. During my first visit, I immediately recognized that he was different from all the other doctors that I have visited. He took the time to fully understand my family's health history, my own health history, my sports background as a triathlete, my work demands and my lifestyle. In other words, he displayed genuine interest in getting to know me holistically. Past doctors had always focused on treating the immediate symptoms. In contrast, Dr. Hiroshima took the time to really study the situation. In that first instance, he took a decidedly scientific approach: He diagnosed the root cause via blood and microbiome tests that, in turn, helped me to resolve a long-standing health condition. My positive experience with Dr. Hiroshima at the IHH led me to request him as my PCP. Even though I lived in San Francisco and his clinic was in San Carlos, it was worth the drive from the city to the Peninsula to see him. I always felt that he had my best interest in mind; he offered personalized medicine that was tailored toward me as an individual vs. a "one size fits all" approach. He consistently took the time to fully understand the presenting issue, and he had a knack for simplifying complex medical/ biological concepts into terms that I could easily follow. I just learned that Dr. Hiroshima is leaving PAMF and I'm sad to see him go. He is the best PCP I've ever had. I have not had a primary care physician in years! And finally needed to go see a doctor so figured I might as well try to find a really good match sooner than later in case I ever come down with something super serious so I know I can trust them. I have to say Dr. David Hiroshima has been that perfect match so far, I even convinced my Fiance to go him too (he didn't have a primary physician either)! I was a bit reserved at first because based on his background he's relatively young/new, but to my pleasant surprise, in meeting him he's very mature, professional, intelligent and down to earth. I feel comfortable asking him any questions without feeling awkward or dumb. Everytime I've needed an appointment I could get on the calendar fairly quickly, if not the same day. Dr. Hiroshima always takes the time to listen to my concerns and thoroughly explain his diagnosis. What I really appreciate about him is he won't try to "oversell" you a prescription unless really necessary. I'm surprised Dr. Hiroshima even gets a one-star review from anyone. The handsome doctor has been the family PCP for a couple of years. My now teenage girls adore him and he only gives us nothing but the BEST care. What impressed me most is that after the baby was born, and he didn't know I will elect him as his PCP, he showed up in the hospital early morning, on his dayoff, with a big smile and ready to give the newborn a warm welcome! He even did his circumcision. And I told him not to mess around with it. To that he replied, "You have nothing to worry about, I was going to be a professional origami artist before I became a doctor." I can go on and on with the compliments. But maybe the little details would just bore whoever is reading this. I never asked him for a prescription I didn't get, if he deemed it necessary for me to get better. I also never asked for hydrocodone, but did get an unpleasant treatment from a doctor at PAMF Urgent Care when I did. So maybe, doctors are really just very cautious in dispensing this medicine. (I can see why.) Dr. Hiroshima is unpretentious; he wouldn't tell you he knows when he doesn't but will find the answers. He will thoroughly explain things and let you know of step by step process for procedures. He is professional yet warm to his patients and I can't remember a time when he can't be available to us his patients when we needed to see him. Dr. Hiroshima has been my primary care physician since his days with El Camino Medical (Almost 10 years). Sad to see him leave PAMF. He is one of the best doctors I have come across, very attentive, cares about his patients, very smart, informed and does research to help them out figure out treatment plans as well. One of the worst Doctors I ever had. Yes, he's a nice guy, but a terrible Doctor. He was my primary physician many years ago. I started having a problem which is now related to an allergic reaction to carbs if it's contained in bread or rice. When I first went to him regarding this issue and explained what was going on, he asked me "where are you when you eat your food (for lunch)". I replied "mostly at my desk". His reply "you need to slow down, take your time and chew your food slowly". Basically don't rush. I had another issue where I had, and still have, migraine headaches. He asked me "how much water do you drink". And basically told me to drink more water. Then he gave me some pills to take for it which did nothing. Luckily, it was one of his colleagues who say me on a day that he was not in the office. She order a Ct Scan and said that she think she knows what wrong with me. When asked if anyone had order a Ct Scan. Of course the answer was NO. It turned out that I have a Sinus problem. I have to use a nasal spray which I still use til this day. There was one more incident, but you get my point by now. He told me to drink more water on that one also. Anyway, he's not a good Doctor........at all! Just my opinion. read more

Dr. David Hiroshima is the BEST Primary Care doctor, he is bright and you can see he is passionate about his work. Anytime I set an appointment with Dr. Hiroshima he would take the time to explain and listen to my concerns without making quick judgements. Most primary care doctors see you quickly and do not offer much insight into your health. Dr. Hiroshima, although relatively young was always able to provide a high degree of health information. He is a Stanford grad and offers a good prespective on your health and will not hesitate to make recommendations or referrals for additional information gathering. David Hiroshima, M.D. is a wonderful doctor. He is very considerate, honest, open, and very concerned about your issues as though they were his own. He gives you his professional opinion, but is open to what you have to say. He doesn't rush the process nor does he he try to included expensive medical tests that need to only "confirm" his opinion. He is interested in getting to the root cause and believes in preventative medicine as well. I HIGHLY recommend him. read more

I went in for a physical with Dr. Hiroshima as a first time patient and I cannot believe how thorough he was. He addressed all of my questions with careful thought, time and patience. He focuses on prevention rather than medication and has many good recommendations for a healthy life style, but that doesn't mean holds back on prescriptions either. I went in needing antibiotics and I got them. Overall, I felt very comfortable with him. Going into this appointment, Dr. Hiroshima wasn't my primary physician, but I did turn around and ask for that to be changed accordingly. read more

Hans K sounds like a serious drug user with more medical problems than Dr Hiroshima can fix. Exercise should be done right not to the point where you need opiates to continue exercising. I've used Dr Hiroshima for many years and he's a good doctor, he won't give you everything you ask for but he is caring and does want to get you in better health. read more

Hands down the best pcp. Takes the time to listen and as he calls it himself, "likes to think outside the box". Tries to help find out whats really causing symptoms and address that as oppose to just treating symptoms. Medicates when necessary but looks for long term solutions if something else is going on. read more

I think Dr. Hiroshima is a really good doctor. He is on the younger side so he relates well to me. He really knows his stuff and when you go and see him for an appointment he really goes through everything and spends a lot of time with you.
