For years, I've been dreading the day when I would have to have my wisdom teeth removed. However, after getting an infection in my jaw caused by my impacted wisdom teeth, I couldn't delay it any longer. But I don't mess around when it comes to doctors, I want The Best. I was EXTREMELY anxious about having all of my wisdom teeth extracted and was trying to find a way to get out of it. But the minute I sat down with Dr. Ehsan, I knew I could trust him to take care of me. The place is spotless and sterile (in a good way). They have the latest and greatest technology, and throughout the process, I really felt that I was in the hands of a true professional. On the day of the surgery, he executed like a ninja. In and out, and before I knew, it was done. DONE! Honestly, the anticipation and listening to everyone else's story about their the surgery was more excruciating than the surgery itself. And get this, Dr. Ehsan called me that evening just to make sure I was doing ok. Rarely do I ever encounter a doctor that actually cares. He goes the extra mile. I've never been under... well, I guess that's all relative. Anyway, I was extremely nervous about being fully sedated. However, Dr. Ehsan was very helpful. He engaged me conversation to take my mind of the fear and before I knew it I couldn't formulate sentences and was OUT. Next thing I know, its 45 minutes later and my wisdom teeth are gone! Today is the day after. Thanks to the pain killers I don't feel much pain. I'm also barely swollen on one side (last year with my other dentist, I looked like I had a golf ball in my cheek), and not much bruising either. We'll see if this stays the same. The only kink is that he has SO many patients. He does surgery and consultation within the same hour. Who can blame him though, it seems like he does an excellent job. He is also not cheap, but you get what you pay for, his service and staff is excellent. I had a horrible experience with a dentist last year, and the last thing I wanted was to go through the same hassle this year. It seems like they are all pretty straight forward. Here's what I like about Dr. Ehsan: highly competent, zero bullshit, outstanding communication skills. The office is in a charming art deco building near Union Square, so getting in and out was pretty straightforward. The equipment and facilities were sufficiently clean and modern-looking to make a strong impression that this guy is on top of his shit. High marks, too, to the support staff, who were pleasant and easy to work with on paperwork, insurance and scheduling. My wisdom tooth procedure - three teeth! - took under thirty minutes. With the anesthetic, it was like no time had passed at all. I am pleased to recommend this outstanding oral surgeon. read more

oh man, imagine my surprise when my dentist informed me that, after putting forth a major effort to extract my #1 molar, she wasn't having very much success. Not exactly what I wanted to hear, but hey, life isn't always perfect, at least it wasn't the last time I checked... Luckily my dentist did have success numbing me, so the 50 minutes that I spent having her crack and pull at my stubborn stump while I struggled to keep my jaw open wide was almost painless - This nauseating yet painless lack of success is what led me to Dr. Ehsan... What was impossible for my dentist (who shall remain nameless) was very possible for the good Doctor. After quickly sawing my stump in half, he had the whole thing yanked in less than 5 minutes. I'm not going to lie and say it didn't hurt like a mother (parting with teeth, especially the #1 molar, is the sweetest of sorrows)but hey it was quick, and I was home on the couch in no time. Dr. Ehsan is incredibly good at managing the psychological aspects of the procedure - He prepares you for the tough stuff and he maintains a very good rapport with the patient. He's very good at what he does. I was tempted to stay longer and have him pull all my teeth, but then I realized that while that may be good for eliminating cavities it wouldn't be good for eating unpopped popcorn kernels (what got me there in the first place). read more

Dr. Watson of South Beach Dental referred me here. I highly recommend Dr. Ehsan for 3rd molar extractions. He is definitely a patient advocate! I was so nervous going in due to the horror stories my frinds had from whenever they got there teeth removed. Julia, Dr. Ehsans assistant, explained that everyone is different and they would take care of me. She put my mind at ease. In fact, whole staff was patient and friendly like that. I did wake up in a panic and started crying after the anesthesia was reversed (I at first thought I was on my death bed for some reason, then I thought I had anesthesia awareness or something because it felt so quick and they were still working on the last tooth), but they explained to me what was going on and I felt better immediately. Dr. Ehsan even asked if I wanted to take the fully impacted tooth out after my hysterics were over (he didn't want to go on if I was going to keep crying). We had talked about the cyst forming around my tooth and I decided we could get it out. He explained to me what was going on the whole time and put dissolvable stitched in where the incision was. I don't know what he used on me, but I didn't feel groggy afterwards and I could walk fine. After the surgery, Julia explained everything I needed to know . Dr. Ehsan called me 4 hours post op to check on me, make sure I was following directions, and to answer any remaining questions for me. It's the next morning and I don't know if its the meds or him (I suspect a combo of both), but the only part of my mouth I feel a little pain in is where the stitches are. I'm not even swollen and I talk fine. I even had a get together at my place last night (though I stayed in bed) and still no pain. read more

I recently visited Dr. Ehsan's office to get a wisdom teeth looked at that had been giving me pain for the past year. I had not gotten the tooth pulled yet due to diagnossis from a past Dr. stating that the tooth was to close to my nerve to be pulled. Instead it had been shaven down to give room to grow away from the nerv which it was taken forever and in turn I was tired of waiting and living with the pain. So I decided to visit Dr. Ehsan's office after reading so many good reviews on Yelp and this office being conveniently located in union square. The friendly receptionist was able to schedule my appt to so it wouldnt be such a big deal to take time off of work. I come in and had a panaramic X-ray taken and 5 mins later the Dr. is going over it with me. He shows my that my tooth is @ a more than a safe distance from my nerv to be pulled away and he gave me the option of going ahead with it even though i was the last appt for the day which I refused due to have dinner plans that night but still thought it was great that he was willing to work with me even though it was past business hours. So i came back a few days later to get the tooth taken out. They put me on gas and a couple of minutes later I was good to go. The Dr's assistant (i think her name was Julia or somthing the likes) was very friendly and attentive the whole time. Next thing i know the Dr comes in says Hi and shakes my hand. 2 mins later i feel a couple of tugs and im done. Off i go with a nice buzz and one less pain. Thanks again Dr. Ehsan! read more

My son and I both had our wisdom teeth removed by Dr. Ehsan around the same time. My son's had to be removed one at a time and I got mine removed all at once. The bottom ones were impacted so they were cut out, rather than pulled out. Sounds scary but it was over quickly and I the pain wasn't even half as bad as I imagined. Throughout my son's extractions, Dr. Ehsan was professional, compassionate, thorough and very communicative. Each visit we were treated courteously and promptly. The office staff were also very helpful in helping us sort out our insurance issues and scheduling appointments. The staff went above and beyond for us every time. The whole process took a few months but they kept us updated and informed the whole time and there were never any surprises with our insurance. I can't say enough good things about Dr. Ehsan's staff. They were lovely to work with and gave us lots of care and attention. As far as the procedures, both my son and I had no problems. My son's extractions healed much quicker than mine and he didn't have any pain or swelling. I was knocked out for mine. I had never been put under and the whole experience was a little nerve wracking but Dr. Ehsan made me feel comfortable and at ease. I recovered rather quickly and had no issues with swelling or infections. I'm so glad I had my wisdom teeth removed. After years of pain and suffering, I'm now so much happier. read more

Highly recommended! I had an implant done by Dr. Ehsan - it has worked out perfectly- experienced zero pain - I've been going to the same dentist for many years, James Const, ( also five stars), and was hesitant to have work done by ANY other dentist. However, Dr. Const does not perform implants, (and there was no other option). I would highly recommend using nitrous oxide- I had not planned on using it but decided last minute and am glad I did. ( I'd never used it before but, it seems to remove ALL sense of stress without the SLIGHTEST sensation of being in any way 'high' - it then wears off quickly without any after effects of any kind). I am thankful to Dr. Ehsan and all his staff and, as always, to Dr. Const who went out of his way to assist. I needed a temporary financial assist- this was arranged, ( with minimal fuss), thru Dr. Ehsans' office and was far better terms than I could get, even thru my companies credit union. I had 2 horizontally and 2 distoangularly impacted wisdom teeth that I had been told needed to be removed for 10+ years from various dentists. After a referral from my new dentist in the city, I got a consultation from Dr. Ehsan and subsequently scheduled surgery to have them removed. Dr. Ehsan is a professional through and through. I can see why some think he comes off a little cold, but rather I see that he tries to deliver as much information to you about what is going on without wasting a lot of yours or his time. This was in fact my first surgery while put under and was naturally a little nervous about it. Dr. Ehsan took the time to explain exactly what he was going to do and what sort of recovery I could expect. Everything turned out has he informed me it would and I couldn't be happier with the result. He is a little expensive and fortunately my dental insurance covered most of the bill. Go there for implants and wisdom teeth extractions; I had the latter done. Office: Brand new with all the high tech gear. The views are what they should be from the 22nd floor in downtown SF. Staff: They are all VERY polite, professional, warm, and helpful. I felt at ease once I entered the office and dealt with his staff face to face. Dr. Ehsan: He is one of the best dentists/doctors/oral surgeons I have ever had to deal with. He answered all my questions during the consultation and made me feel confident my money was being well spent. Visiting any type of Dentist has always been a terrifying experience for me, as I can imagine it is for many others out there. Lets be honest, most of them are pretty good, and its just the painful recollections of our childhood, when procedures were archaic, which have scarred us. I was referred to Dr Ehsan. I needed my wisdom teeth removed much to my resistance. My teeth weren't crooked, or looking like they needed it, but the problem with wisdom teeth is they are hard to clean. As a result I had cavities that had started due to my inability to get back there and clean properly. So after fighting it for 2 years, I decided to do it before I regret it later in life. Lucky for me however, I had them fully grown and not impacted like some unfortunate soles out there. When I got to his office, the receptionists were very friendly, and the tell tale signs of a butcher shop, was nowhere in sight. There were no screams, or crying from patients in a torture chair, that we seem to imagine, perhaps from all those years watching movies. I was taken for x-rays, which went very smoothly (of course) , and then Dr. Ehsan came in to interview me and provide me with a background into the procedure. He is a very busy man as you can imagine, and yet, I found he was knowledgeable, attentive, took his time to discuss where complications could arise, and then reassure me that I was one of those patients that had nothing to worry about with the extraction process. I had the procedure done yesterday (Aug 5th), and wow, it was the easiest thing I've ever done. When I walked in, I was unbelievably nervous. I was going to be put under with local anesthesia, and then after 1 hour. Well, they prepped me, started the IV drip, and withing 60-90 seconds I was out. What a strange feeling that was, going from totally awake to passed out. When I started to regain consciousnesses, the 1st thing I though to myself was "have they even started". I came to realize my face was numb and I had gauze in my mouth. No pain, just a little groggy and anxious to know how it went. The Dr. came in and told me it was a very easy procedure and I was a model patient (pfew). the receptionists had called the pharmacy and confirmed they had my meds ready to go. They also called my girlfriend and she came to pick me up. All in all, I was there for 1 1/2 hours, and it felt like 15 mins. The only negative is the cost, but honestly, ask yourself if you'd pay a little extra for the same painless experience. I'd do it again in a heart beat. I've been putting this off and dreading it for years - getting my lower wisdom teeth out. The surgery itself was no problem! Dr. Ehsan and his staff are very friendly and know what they are doing. The assistant for my surgery talked me through everything as she attached me to the machines. Dr. Ehsan came in and distracted me with small talk as he put the IV in . . .then I was out. At some point I remember being very cold and someone putting a blankie on me. Then I remember waking up and seeing Dr. Ehsan who told me they were almost done. I must have gone back under, because the next thing I know, they WERE done. And let's face it - the recovery from having your lower wisdom teeth out SUCKS. But Dr. Ehsan and his staff prepped me in every way they could . Ice pack, meds, a sheet of instructions, and a phone call that night from the doc himself to see how I was doing. I may just survive this after all! UPDATE: I feel like such a girl. I had to call, on a holiday, to get more pain meds because I just can't stand it. Dr. Ehsan answered his cell, was super friendly, told me I was normal to be hurting this much still and he'd call in more meds. I came here for (two) extractions, including one tooth that required two prior coronectomy procedures (done elsewhere) because my tooth was touching the nerve, and the tooth alongside was riding along the nerve as well. My prior surgeon wanted to do a third coronectomy then wait to remove the tooth later along with the adjacent tooth, but Dr. Ehsan was able to just extract both teeth saving me from further surgeries. He did a 3D X-ray (I think that's what it was) to understand exactly how close were my teeth to the nerve and comfortably speak to them being okay to remove. I was referred to Dr. Ehsan by my dentist. He recently removed my two upper wisdom teeth. Compared to the lower ones I got extracted 7 years ago, this was a breeze (yes, I realize the lower ones are more difficult). There was a 30 min consultation appointment where they took x-rays and went over the options and procedures. I am grateful to his assistant who went over the insurance and payment specifics with me. If she hadn't, I would have paid a lot more out of pocket. The surgery appointment itself only took 20 minutes! After the paperwork and anesthesia, the actual extraction took only 4 minutes! I got my wisdom teeth taken out two weeks ago and overall the process was very smooth. I went in for a consultation months ago (took a while to straighten out insurance and get them to pay - not really this office's fault though) and Dr. Ehsan was very professional and helpful in explaining the exact situation and procedure to me. Day of the procedure all of the staff were very helpful and took care of everything. They even took down my ride's phone number to call him after I was done. I was a little scared (I was going completely under) but they talked me through it and before I knew it I was waking up and going home. A couple other people have mentioned it but I loved the Dr himself called me that night to check on me and remind me of various tips and instructions for taking care of myself. I liked that personal touch. Also, the office staff were very patient with me calling it with questions as I recovered and getting me refills of medications. All in all it was fairly painless experience and much easier than I had expected. I would say I would go back but here's hoping I never really need to! read more

Dr. Ehsan took care of my implant on Monday, three days ago. I've been to his office twice, first for the consultation, several weeks ago, and then on Monday to have the implant put in place. My goal was to replace a failing bridge with two crowns and an implant. During the consultation, Dr. Ehsan explained the procedure thoroughly - and determined that I was a good candidate. I didn't need a bone graft, as there was already enough bone to support the device: since it was inserted in the upper right side, there had to be enough bone so that the implant wouldn't penetrate through to a sinus cavity. When it came down to having the implant installed, I was much more nervous than I thought I'd be. It finally sank in that I was going to have a 1 cm hole drilled up into my bone, so that a titanium screw could be inserted. It's like that feeling you get the first time you climb up onto the high diving board - and look down, while everyone's waiting for you to dive off. Can't turn back now. Hope it works out.... I highly recommend the laughing gas. Dr. Ehsan's assistant, Gerard was fantasic - and the two worked together very seamlessly throughout the entire surgery. Gerard knew exactly what to do, the whole time while Dr. Ehsan was performing, what I had come to realize, was an incredibly sensitive operation. Everything was sterile and bright white. The equipment looked modern. They completely wrap you up from head to toe, because it's important that there be no contaminants. It's not like filling a cavity or even a root canal. The precision is extremely important. It's one of those types of procedures where you don't want to hear someone say "Oops". If you're as clumsy as I am, you would appreciate how a steady hand is a valuable qualification. I realized it most when, after all was said and done, he showed me the new X-ray where the screw had been implanted. While I was there I was just too focused on the screw being up in there - and having a piece of metal screwed so far into my jawbone. You will be too, if you're reading this because you're about to have an implant. He pointed out "see, there's your sinus cavity - there was only about 1/3 mm to spare". I was just too focused on the screw to think about the millimeter part. The entire thing took less than an hour. But when I got home, and became less concerned about my new cyborg look, I thought about how straight the screw was inserted, and just how one little slip could have messed me up good. Dr. Ehsan also has a naturally pleasant disposition while maintaining a professional attitude. This is always of utmost importance for me. So, if I ever need to have another implant - I'll know he's be the man for the job. read more

A couple of years ago, I had an orthodontic exposure and bonding procedure done by Dr. Ehsan who came highly recommended by my Orthodontist. The process from beginning to end was seamless. He called me the evening of the procedure to check on how things were going, which was very sweet of him. He and his team helped me understand my insurance and were very thorough about everything. Just recently I had my braces removed and my orthodontist recommended I have my wisdom teeth removed. I went to Dr. Ehsan again and he explained the procedure to me from start to finish and in the end, I was less nervous about the procedure. After the procedure, Dr. Ehsan was nice enough to call me yet again and check up on me o. Considering how deeply impacted my teeth were and how close to the nerve it was the price was very reasonable. I highly recommend Dr. Ehsan. He is the best oral surgeon. =) read more

I needed to get some dental implants put in and my dentist recommended Dr. Ehsan to me. During my consulation Dr. Ehsan was super about explaining from A to Z the whole procedure that would be done. On the day I went in for teeth extractions and implant surgery the staff was GREAT and never did I feel anxious about anything. Dr. Ehsan explained everything step by step and before I knew it, I woke up and it was already over! The staff was very helpful in answering all my questions post surgery. Dr. Ehsan even called me personally that same night to check in with me and make sure I was recovering nicely. He is very attentive to his patients. I still have a few more appts to complete my treatment and I am extremely happy with everything so far. As for the facility, the office is IMMACULATELY CLEAN and bright. Great views of Union Square! Informative, smart, helpful, kind. I just went in for a TMJ consultation and he was great. He took the time to sit with me and look at xrays and give me a far longer and better explanation that any doctor at Kaiser Permanente has ever given me. My other dentist recommended him and so I went on Yelp before to check him out and read some strange things. I just wanted to put this good rating to even out the bad misconceptions (if any). I am a believer of reviewing health care because everyone deserves to know who the great and not-so-great doctors are, and let me tell you: the service you receive at Dr Ehsan's is superb. Believe me- I've had my share of bad doctors/dentists who like to keep you in the dark and fuzzy up the details. In Dr Ehsan's office I can tell that they make it a priority to explain everything to you-- from the cost of my procedure to his explanation of why human beings are slowly evolving toward not having wisdom teeth. I greatly appreciated the effort to make their operation as transparent as possible, putting me at ease and making it easy to throw down the money for this operation. Dr Ehsan is what they call a health care professional-- very intelligent, patient, and ready to answer any questions. His assistants were very helpful and respectful. I did have an annoying experience with one assistant-- when she called to remind me about my follow up appointment, I asked her a question about my healing process, and she did not make any effort to answer my question nor to refer me to someone who would do so. I was referred to Dr. Eshan by my AMAZING dentist Dr. Const. I was supposed to have my wisdom teeth removed 3 years ago when I received the referral. Of course, I chickened out but, used the excuse that I didn't have any issues so why bother? Over the holidays I started to have pain. I knew that they were impacted and I couldn't wait any longer especially since I am now 21+20 yrs old.. I Manned up and made an appt. The staff was very accommodating and was able to see me right away. Although a fast talker, Dr Eshan was personable, professional, and took the time to explain the procedure. Bada bing it was scheduled and I was in the chair. It has been 6 days since the procedure and I really only experienced discomfort the first few hours after surgery. Other than that, I haven't had many major pain or swelling. The overall experience from the initial visit, to the extraction was great. I had a fairly unpleasant-type of procedure that was performed as quickly and comfortably as I can imagine possible. Dr Ehsan is the best surgeons out there. I was referred by my dentist Dr. Suezaki. The check up and consultation process was super easy. Dr Ehsan explained everything clearly and honest. I only have three wisdom tooth, one missing. The upper one was growing on the other side so no need to do anything, however my bottom two were impacted horizontally. He saw how scared I was and told me we can only take the left bottom one out since that one might be it to be hard to clean my other tooth. I appreciate his honesty and shows he isn't there to try to get money out of his patients. I agreed to just get out the bottom both so I don't have to worry about anything in the future. My surgery was yesterday, I was super nervous. I recommend scheduling the surgery the week after or two. I waited for post two months and yes I Googled and watched Youtube videos, it was HORRIFIC. I literally cried days coming up the surgery, so lol don't drag it out too long and do not search online. My appointment was originally 11:30AM, but I think they were running late and I finally got called in at 12:30PM. I can tell they were super busy and running behind, which didn't help my nerves at all, but it's ok, it just shows he has a lot of patients , which means he does a GREAT job! The medical assistant, Julie was SO SO SO nice, she made me feel so comfortable and explained everything to me. They took my vitals and also put on a oxygen mask on me. So let me tell you, I was SO scared of being put under and it was my first time, I kept telling myself "omg what's if this it, and I just die?! I'm way too young to die right now!!" LOL but the nurses told me not to worry and that everything will be ok, so fast and I'll be comfortable and awake in no time. Dr Ehsan came right in and asked me a few questions to make sure I didn't eat anything 6 hours prior. I'm not afraid of needles at all, but man he does an AMAZING job with the IV, I felt nothing and my body just adjusted to it. After that, they lifted up my chair and he told me he was going to start putting the meds in and then told me I should start feeling sleepy and I just remember looking up the ceiling and I said "man it feels so good right now" LOLOL!! And bam I was asleep. It's not really feeling drunk or anything, its so instant and comfortable, nothing to ever worry about!!! Once I woke up the nurse told me I was done and that my bf is coming in. I woke up awake and feeling awesome and ready to conquer the world! Dr Ehsan is a PRO at what he does, I did not ever feel groggy or sleepy, just amazing. They sent me off with post care information, more gauzes and a ice pack. I went home and started eating porridge so I can take the ibuprofen and antibiotics ( I preferred not to take the Vicodin in case it caused me to feel sick or vomit). Bleeding was minimal, just a bit sore on the jaw, totally tolerable! Dr Ehsan also called me at night to check up on me! He told me surgery went very well and to take meds on time, ice my face and rest. He excepts me to have a good recovery also! I was very concerned for dry sockets (yes I googled before hand, didn't help) and he told me not to worry and that now a days with how they do surgery, dry sockets are nothing to worry about (I am praying for sure). It's comforting to know there is a 24/7 hour doctor on call also, incase of any emergencies. Also I bought a ice pack head wrap on amazon, I highly recommend it, so you don't have to hold the ice with your hands. Now it's POD 1, and I woke up 530AM to take my meds, I am very very on time and will be taking my ibuprofen on time for the next 4-5 days to be safe as well as my antibiotics. So far, just a bit sore and eating and swallowing, I can feel the stitches, but nothing major! I will have my follow up appointment in a week, so I hope everything goes well these coming days! I highly recommend Dr Ehsan, he's amazing at what he does. Yes he is more expensive, but remember good quality work goes a long way. I truly believe part of your recovery is how well your oral surgeon did your surgery. It's worth the money and if your insurance covers it, DO IT! Thank you Dr. Ehsan! UPDATE: Had my one week check up last Friday, everything went super well! Got a syringe to clean out out the holes. Honestly I was already feel better on Day 4 and just had swelling, pain was more just soreness from the swelling, nothing drastic at all. Was able to eat sushi and noodles more on Day 7. read more

If you must part with your wizzies, go to Dr. Ehsan! He extracted all four of mine a few months ago and he did a great job. My dentist actually recommended him and after reading the great Yelp reviews, it really made me (slightly) less nervous about getting it done. I got the follow up call in the evening after the surgery, but must have been knocked out on the pain pills and missed it! I needed a lower wisdom tooth extracted very close to an area where my jaw had been previously fractured. Dr. Ehsan showed me a very detailed x-ray that revealed my fracture had not only healed but that the bone area was actually stronger and denser than before. Hadn't wanted to deal with getting my wisdom teeth out but they finally started to hurt. Got a referral to Dr. Ehsan from my dentist and am really glad I did. Initial appointment was an x-ray and then a very quick talk about what I should expect given where my teeth were at. Can understand how Dr. Ehsan could come across as abrupt, but honestly didn't bother me since I had already decided to get them out and didn't have any questions. Surgery was incredibly easy. The staff made me feel quite comfortable and the IV was easy. Recovery was also no problem which I assume is part given where my teeth were and that he's just a great surgeon. Thought about going to work the next morning. Wish I hadn't put off getting them dealt with so long. read more

I have been putting off my wisdom teeth removal since high school; the inevitable puffiness and pain just weren't all the enticing (or attractive). But once I finally got real insurance (i.e., not the crap insurance you have when in school), it was time to stop making excuses and get those things out. Dr. Ehsan made everything so easy! Dr. Ehsan and everyone at his office are so nice, efficient, and helpful. They explained everything for me, including a detailed breakdown of how my insurance would cover the consultation and extraction, and gave me a chance to ask any and all questions I had. Dr Ehsan took out 3 wisdom teeth, and I avoided all of the horror-story recovery complications my friends warned me about. I was back at work 2 days later, I had almost no bleeding, no dry-sockets, and a minimal amount of pain that was entirely gone within a week. I was really impressed that he was (a) able to see me same-day for a consultation when my teeth first started to hurt, and that (b) when I had some discomfort on a Friday afternoon and wanted to get it checked out rather than risk being in pain over the weekend, he checked me out (for free!) within a half hour of my phone call. I was very lucky to have my tooth treated by Dr Ehsan. Back in dec 2019, I had a lot of swelling because of my wisdom tooth. I got last minute appointment at his clinic as was really impressed on how fast the entire team took care of me. Dr recommended to get all my 4 tooth removed at once. I was definitely scared and nervous but he assured that I will do just fine. I was out throughout the procedure. I had my extraction completed within one week of my first visit. DR Ehsan was a magician as I literally had no pain after the surgery. He even makes sure to personally call and check you after the procedure. I am motivated to write this as I was telling a friend some advice on who to go for an implant and was recalling my experience with David Ehsan. First off, staff told me I need to get an xray at his office prior to the initial consult. Not a big deal, so, I got one there. I had trouble holding my mouth still with biting down because of how my teeth were sitting after the injury (my past provider used bites designed for this issue). The xray was therefore blurry. Dr. Ehsan looked at the xray and told me he could not tell if there was a fracture. Rather than asking his staff to repeat the xray, he said I would need to get a head CT to 'see ~if~ there is a fracture'. I had just moved to SF and had already been working with a different (great) specialist up till that point. The fact that my front tooth was cracked in half was not exactly a subtle xray finding. I started to bust out the xrays I brought with me so he could see the fracture and so I didn't have to go get a head CT and then come in for a 2nd visit to be told, 'head CT is back. Hmmm. Turns out your tooth is cracked in half. Now, where were we?" Dr. E. however, wanted no part in my xrays. He then went through a very generic manual on getting an implant and the various options. This included doing nothing and just having a missing front tooth. Now, I realize that he is required to discuss risk, benefits and alternatives including no treatment, but Dr E did not just skim past this page. He instead took his time to really spell it out for me that I did not, in fact, ~need~ a front tooth. I nodded and narrowed my eyes to indicate something like 'ha, yes, very funny, I hadn't realized that my front tooth was not a vital organ and this was a purely cosmetic procedure. Please, kick me while I'm down," but alas, he persisted. At the end of the manual, when I tried to ask more specific questions, he then became short with me and told me he had other patients to see. Now, "I have other patients to see" is totally understandable in an ER or in a setting where the doctor has no control in how many patients they see per day. But this is an upper-scale private practice in downtown San Francisco. I was not asking him to chit chat with me, I was asking specific questions about the procedure. If the allotted time does not allow for a patient to ask a couple questions and one is in a private practice and has the liberty to modify their schedule, then this seems like a readily fixable problem. read more

I was very disappointed with Dr. Ehsan's lack of empathy and his smugness. The rod he implanted unfortunately became mobile months after the permanent crown was placed on top of the rod by my dentist. He offered to redo the work, but refused to give me a discount nor do the work at cost as I already paid for the surgery in full. I was truly shocked and could not believe my ears. He is arrogant, condescending, money driven, and doesn't care for the patient. I did not have Dr. Ehsan redo the surgery and had it done elsewhere. A very close friend asked me who was my implant surgeon as he needed implant work and I told him to avoid Dr. Ehsan. read more

this was the most ridiculous dental visit i've ever experienced. i met with dr. ehsan a few months ago to address my very necessary crown. he took the x-rays, and i spent approximately 10 minutes waiting for them to develop during which time he informed me that this is not what he does, which is something that the receptionist should have informed me over the phone-- especially given that i asked. beyond this, he charged me over $300 for the visit, which i find completely ludicrous and quite revealing of his character. i prefer to patronize doctors who pay me a bit more mind than simply what i will add to their pocketbook. read more
