I was extrememly ill when I arrived at David Cohen's office in12/24. I was a climate refugee from the Asheville hurricane, had gotten sepsis from contaminated water and almost died, then had to flee Asheville. Although the infection itself was gone, the side effects from 7 days of intravenous anti-biotics almost killed me. I suffer from chronic pain and have since approximately 1982 from an injury while serving in the Marines. I spend the majority of my time in pain, ranging anywhere on an average day from a 3-4 to a 10. Over the years management of my pain has been hit or miss. Dr. David Cohen has been a significant catalyst in my positive health management for over 20 years. From knees and back to cancer he is PHENOMENAL! I began treatment with David about 20 years ago, initially for back pain, for which he helped alleviate the pain and regain movement. I continued with Dr. Cohen periodically for back issues which improved increasingly. A few years later, in 2003, when I was diagnosed with breast cancer, my first call was to Dr. Cohen to schedule acupuncture and herbs to prepare for my bilateral mastectomy. My body was prepared and the surgery went well. My reconstruction was a TRAM flap, in which the surgeons moved my lower abs to my breast area, which served as transplanted breast tissue. The tissue needed to adhere to its new home, and there was a portion which was not "happy", so the docs thought it might have to be removed due to the death of the tissue. I am convinced that Dr. Cohen's acupuncture and the accompanying Chinese herbs revived the tissue which is alive and well in its new home to this day! Over the decades Dr. Cohen has treated my knees and back periodically, but now that breast cancer has returned 14 years later, I have treatment 3x per week to assure my body (Chi) will be strong enough to defend itself against the chemo and accompanying side effects. I had surgery 3 years ago to remove a fibroid from my uterus along with a dermoid cyst. Since then new fibroids have grown and the bleeding in between cycles has come back. My only option would be continued surgeries until menopause or a total hysterectomy, which would come with new sets of hormonal imbalances and issues.
