I arrived at 9am, that is when they told me to come to fill out paperwork. My appointment was at 9:30am. I was seen on time and they took the time to listen to me. They didn't just shove antibiotics at me and rush me. They took the time to truly take what I had been experiencing into consideration and find the best alternatives for me. I would recommend this office especially Dr. De Leon. Ps the reviews saying they will only see you for one thing at a time are false. I was seen in one appointment for 3 various issues. Hopefully this helps others make a good decision for primary care.

It was a 5 star I had been with since it opening in 1989 to 2024. I would not be here if it was not for PCP. he was and is amazing person. Problem began when Wellmed purchased the practice. It has been a year since Wellmed corporate dropped all it commercial insurance. I just want tell you some of experience since my last visit. 1st I began to request my complete file I had been a patient since 1989/ while the computer record want back to 2005. I submitted the request in June of 2024 for the complete records. ( I mean everything that was produced or recevied from other offices.) At first I was sent 2 months of files from Versima (they manage the record) I was give a run around no file found, donot have excess to those files, etc for months. I had to reach out to Wellmed corp, then optum and the United Healthcare Group ( parent company) it was close to 8 months before I or my new PCP recevied my files. And even some where missing still. When I contract corporate about it i fid not get an answer back at all 2nd the Wellmed office was to be available to use to ask question until January 1 2025. But they shut down the partial portal in September less then a month after the last visit. So we could not ask a question or look at the files or medication etc. 3rd the office and clinical staff was doing there best to help over 10,000 patient (only this location plus everyone from it countless office in Florida) transition to new doctor. It was Wellmed corporate that gave little notice that it was transiting ONLY TO MEDICARE PATIENT. The office manager was just bad! With short tempted and would not or was not able to explain is simple tream what was going on. 4th Wellmed Corp was worse never returned a call or email.

Patient Recommendation for Dr. Mahnaz Qayyum, M.D…read more Dr. Qayyum has been my primary care physician since she opened her practice nine years ago, and I can say without hesitation that she is one of the most compassionate, knowledgeable, and attentive doctors I've ever known. She has guided me through everything from my first case of COVID to severe respiratory infections--despite the fact that I've never smoked. Her approach is always thoughtful and science-based, choosing the most effective treatments without relying on unnecessary medications. Dr. Qayyum is board-certified in Family Medicine, with medical training in New Jersey and an academic background from King's College, University of London. She combines clinical excellence with a holistic approach, helping her patients achieve better health, manage weight, and enhance their overall well-being through customized, preventative care. From day one, she has shown a sincere interest in my whole-person health--listening carefully, addressing every concern with patience, and making sure I understand each step of my care. Her unique ability to pair medical expertise with genuine empathy has made a lasting difference in my life. Dr. Qayyum also provides exceptional care to my wife, Diane, with the same dedication and kindness. While Diane will share her own experience, I can confidently say that having a doctor we trust so deeply brings us tremendous peace of mind. I am truly grateful to be under Dr. Qayyum's care. I am the first to admit that I do not enjoy going to the doctor, so I tried to see past some red flags. At this point though, despite Dr. Hitchcock seeming like a competent doctor I don't feel like I can deal with her practice long term. Making an Appointment- When I went to make my recent appointment, I utilized ZocDoc, an online service that Dr. Hitchcock's office utilizes. It makes no mention that this service should only be utilized by new patients. In fact, I selected that I was a returning patient during the registration process and the system allowed me to make an appointment. Since using an online system was new to me, I ended up calling to see if there was any updated paperwork that I needed to submit. During this call Sharon/Shari, the receptionist was incredibly rude. First, she chided me for using the online system as it was for new patients only. Again, there was no mention of this online so I felt it was extremely uncalled for for her to fault me for having made this appointment. She kept going on about it and eventually I just asked her to make me an appointment for the same time and date, which she did. I'm not sure what difference it made on her end, but for some reason it did. Something I knew from my prior visit was that with Dr. Hitchcock's office your first visit is considered a consultation/meet and greet. She'll address any issues but you will have to pay a copay, etc. as normal. If you have a free physical through your insurance, you can not do that for your first visit. It is an office policy that I feel is somewhat of a "nickel and dime" strategy. I asked Sharon to explain what the difference was between the physical and the consult appointment and she got really flustered and then just transferred me and said she couldn't help me anymore. Again, incredibly odd and uncalled for. Tiffany, the girl I spoke to next was a lot nicer and also provided a great explanation on the difference between appointments. Visit/Waiting Room- Dr. Hitchcock's office is on the second floor of the Phoenica Center, behind Barnes and Noble/Bonefish on Sandlake. The waiting room is very nice and comfortable, which is good because you will probably spend a lot of time in there. I waited about 45 minutes past my scheduled appointment. Visit/Appointment- The actual time I spent with Dr. Hitchcock was fine, although brief. An assistant took some basic information about why I was there before Dr. Hitchcock came in and then we ran through the things I wanted to discuss. I feel she was knowledgeable and gave me options for my concerns and the information I needed. Followup- This is an area that is a bit frustrating for me. I received a couple prescriptions as well as instructions for having blood work and an x-ray done. After completing the x-ray, I wanted to followup about if it had been received and reviewed. I also had a question regarding a prescription, so I called and emailed the medical assistant per the website. Unfortunately the response I got was to come in for another appointment. To me, that is unacceptable. While I'd be completely willing to come in if there was follow up needed off of the results or a new condition/complication that had arisen, it seems silly to me to spend my time and money on another appointment to ask a question about a prescription that was just prescribed to me. Again, I felt that the "nickel and dime" strategy was coming into play. All in all, while Dr. Hitchcock seems like a well-informed doctor, dealing with office policies and attitudes may be a little too much for me to handle long term.

Update. a complete 180 happened last we were there. we…read morearrived 30 min too early since i wrote it wrong on the calendar. the office wasnt open yet. they opened 10 min late and i was the 3rd to check in. the receptionist only had me on the books, not a husband/wife appmnt as requested, after friendly arguing, she was letting me believe this could be worked out. yes, i grabbed the outdated insurance card, but still, she gave me such a hard time about it and called my husband in already, while my stuff was still being verified. i sat patiently for another half hour before i carefully asked if i was not going to be joining my husband soon. she pointed and mumbled something about the clock and i reiterated with her that my husband has to be at work at 10:30 am and it was now past 9 am. she told me to sit back down and wait my turn. another 30 min later i carefully, yet a bit more determined asked her again, since i saw person after person being called in, treated and leaving. after another 10 min of stalling i was finally called in, close to 100 min after my appointment time and my husband hadnt even been seen. he now had to call into work, since he was late already. the nurse came in to take my blood pressure and asked us if there is anything else she can do. we told her it had nothing to do with her but we are pissed. she called in the office manager, who pulled out all the old disney tricks i know by heart to sooth over the naggers. told us everything we want to hear and promised to come back with a solution in 5 min. half an hour later - nothing. we wondered out into the hallway to find another staff member who could get the manager back. after yet another 20 min, she came in, not quite sure what to tell us, just babbling. finally after close to 3 hours (im not sure why we sat that long), the doc came in, nice and jolly as usual, asking us how we are. we nicely said "lets not talk about that". he immediately raised his voice, shouting "oh i dont think you wanne go there!" my husband carefully replied "well, i think i kinda do.." he didnt even get to finish when Dr Young jumped up and yelled at us for the next 10 min that he doesnt need people like us, that verbally abuse his staff, cause havoc in the hallway and first and foremost show up LATE to appointments. we tried to get a word in edgewise but obviously his staff had twisted everything around to save their own asses and told him all the wrong things. after two more attempts to speak, he literally threw us out and told us he will no longer be our doctor and slammed the door behind him. we both just stood in shock about what just happened and re-playd everything step by step to see if it was really our fault, but couldnt find anything that would support that theory. we asked the manager if she could call the doc in one more time to try and have a talk with us but she stated he was with patience and it would be best to leave. im still not quite over this fiasco and what i would really like to do is file legal action, but who wants to take it up with a doctor...?

Dr. Young is one of THE most personable and respectful general practitioners I've gone to in years…read more I have been a patient of his over four years and I am very grateful for his personal attention and ability to identify key aspects of my health concerns. I agree that his last office staff was not very attentive and were very chatty with one another; however, this should not be a reflection of the care given by the doctor. His new location is a lot easier to get to (Metro West) as opposed to the Dr. Philips Hospital area. At this location his staff is very friendly and helpful, this may be due to the fact that he has much more control over this office and it is not as big. I choose all my health care providers carefully and I can say without hesitation that Dr. Young is by far one of the best. I trust his opinions and I would definitely recommend him to others.
