Modern, yet cozy... elegant, yet hip... but ultimately immaculate. Fast forward a year later, I look to opening my new nail salon in Jack London Square, called Rock & Polish. (Yes, shameless plug!) I knew what I wanted, but didn't know how to achieve it. I knew I loved organic items, wood, polished cement, I loved the masculine design yet with the perfect feminine touches. Michael was kind enough to spend the time with me really understanding my taste, my vision, my wants, & my desires of how I wanted the salon to look. I wanted it too look like no other nail salon anyone had seen before. He took my hand and guided me through the process. Picking out wallpapers, paint colors, artwork, furniture. I will say, sometimes you've got to just blindly trust him. As a self-confessed control freak, it was hard, but I'm so SO glad that I did. Dan was instrumental in integrating all the stuff I already had with the stuff I needed to make the new house MY home. And there was a lot: new tile for the downstairs bathroom, family room, and entryway; new window treatments for the entire house; new bedroom furniture for the master suite; new furniture and area rug for the family room; a new built-in cabinet next to the fireplace; et cetera. The best part of working with Dan is that he knew all the best places for getting high-quality furnishings that made the house look sophisticated and inviting without breaking the bank. For instance, he took me to Home Depot (!) and guided me through their selection of window treatments; the ones we chose look sensational in the living room and dining room. The bedroom curtains came from Bed, Bath and Beyond. (Dan even gave me his BB&B coupons so that I could get a better deal.) I could make a list of all the helpful ways Dan made the process easier, but the upshot is that if you and Dan agree there's something that you need, he will find something great for you at the best possible price. Now, of course, if there are considerations for you other than price, Dan is more than able to accommodate that direction. For instance, I prefer "made in America" wherever possible, and so for our furniture needs we went to Room and Board and found pieces that were perfect for me. The long and short of it is that Dan is a skillful designer who knows when to listen and when to gently steer you away from an unfortunate design decision. I'd gladly work with him again, and I thank him for all his assistance in making my new home handsome, comfortable and easy to live in.

As a landscape designer, I routinely work on jobs in which interior designers are involved. I can say in all honesty that Kevin was a cut above those other designers. He quickly understood what he needed to do to help bring the clients' vision into reality and his taste is exquisite. He also kept in very close communication with them throughout the process. One thing I was very impressed with is how Kevin was able to find things like rugs, furniture, and art objects that were both beautiful and highly affordable. He clearly has good relationships with a wide range of retail and wholesale establishments. He was also very generous in sharing his resources with me. I highly recommend Sawyers Design.

MMD has disrespected me and my hard earned money and now I have filed a complaint in superior court for the balance due on my account. I hired this man because I thought he was experienced. I'm a very busy physician and I didn't have time to look for samples for flooring, fabrics and window treatments. All easy projects. He didn't really listen to the style I was going for and brought me all kinds of fabrics, colors and samples I didn't like. For example, I got charged for a 4 hour phone call to FRANCE to order fabric for pillow covers! They were ridiculously expensive and not at all what I wanted. He hardly gave me any options and charged me for a ridiculous amount of time. He should have given me a proposal and should have given it to me in WRITING. He should have told me in the proposal he would charge me 10 hours of his time AND his assistants time to get pillows! In addition I got redundant charges for when his assistants would come along or if they helped him pick some fabrics out or when they talked about what they were going to show me. When we discussed a project he would come one day to talk about = charge, one day to measure = another charge, look into options = another charge, he would talk to me about the options = another charge, he would bring by samples = another charge. If is assistants helped him with anything or came along add the additional charges. And this was the inefficiency that went into everything. Just framing and hanging ordinary pictures cost me 5k. He was very inefficient and this way he did his best to squeeze the most money out for doing very little. PLEASE never give him a deposit if you want to see your money again. Needless to say, I terminated his services. Now he owes me a return on my deposit because he deposited the check the next day, even before any work was done. I even agreed to pay him for the time he took to show me all the stuff I didn't like and was too costly. He still owes me a few thousand dollars after I have terminated is work for over a YEAR NOW. Now he WONT RETURN MY CALLS, EMAILS or My MONEY. He does a great job of sending you his bills and depositing your money then next day. He sends bills on the finest, embossed paper. You are paying for that paper and when the time comes, he will not give you your money back that he owes you, so be very careful with him!!! I have filed a complaint with ASCID in Washington DC. Now I have to go to court to get him to pay my deposit. I have filed in superior court of SF and just got a judgement in my favor. Please don't patronize this designer. Call GREEN COUGH INSTEAD! Now I have to prepare for my court date and further waste more of my time and money. I think he has serious financial problems. His professional practices are so bad as you can see by the other reviews. There is very little regulation of this industry. HIRE GREEN COUCH DESIGN they are the best group of designers. They are fresh, cool, modern and classic, and the style is exactly what I wanted. I got my entire project done in half the time Michael took to do one part and I got even more than I wanted with them. I got all new furniture, great pillows, flooring, windows, bedding -- all in my budget. They gave me a wonderful binder with a proposal that was given to me before any deposit. They never even cashed my deposit until the project was over. I told them how much I was willing to spend and they told me exactly how much the entire project would cost before we even started and THEY DELIVERED. The place look amazing. My friends and family rave about how beautiful it looks and I can't stop enjoying what they have done. I can't say enough good things about the work they did. It was exactly the style I wanted, with great quality pieces, and the most organized business. I LOVE them. Please don't hire MMD unless you like to burn your cash.

He has a good eye, great contacts (contractors, tile vendors, etc) and he's fun to work with. We've done a three unit condo building (finishes, tile, layout, etc), two large single family homes and we recently staged a client's home for sale. The projects that we have worked on are modern and also transitional style. I would say that he gets that aesthetic. Jean-Pierre is also a fine artist and good with color. I will continue to use Jean-Pierre to pick finishes, review plans and help coordinate the design of my client's work.
