I was completely up side down in the car I had, Chandler, James, and Al were amazing. They got me out of it without getting "hosed". Gave me a great deal on an extended warranty too. Then we came back and bought a new Corvette. Chandler goes above and way beyond what he does to make sure you're comfortable and feel good about your decision. I will travel from western Washington to buy a car here!

Made a deal over the phone on a new 2026 GMC Canyon. Drove 7.5 hours to pick it up on 1/5/2026. When I went to sign paperwork, finance manager Raymond Routh had a $4,500 warranty added on top of what I was supposed to pay for the truck. When I told him "no" on the warranty, he said that this is an added option they do that would not come out of my pocket and that it doesn't go on your loan. He gave me no option to check a box saying no. At the end of everything, this $4,500 was added on top of my loan. When I went back in to tell him I wasn't going to pay for this, he told me that the finance company requires it and that I can cancel it after my first payment. I had no option but to be stuck with the added warranty that he told me I would not have to pay for. When I got home, I called the finance company ( Santander ) and they informed me that they do not require any added warranty for my loan, so basically Raymond Routh lied to me. Then when I tried emailing and calling Raymond Routh, he never answered or returned my calls. My salesman DJ, finally got the AUL warranty cancelled on 1/14/2026 and told me it would take up to 6 weeks and my $4500.00 would be refunded towards the lender. Now it has been 6 weeks and still haven't seen my refund. Once again, I left several emails / calls to Raymond Routh and get "0" responses. I will follow up when I get my refund for the AUL warranty but would strongly urge not to buy from this dealership. The salesman, DJ, was good to deal with but the Finance manager Raymond Routh is a crook.

Worst experience ever! Tried to purchase a new vehicle from them 3 months ago. They failed to submit the loan docs to the lender on time resulting in the loan app to be cancelled. When I tried to back out they shipped the truck to me in California and refused to communicate. After 3 weeks of storing a truck that wasn't mine (no loan) I shipped it back to the tune of $1,000. They are still refusing to talk to me. I'd love for them to reimburse the $1,580.00 owed to me. read more

As others have posted- do NOT give them a deposit, regardless of what they say to you or promise you. Their "fully refundable" has conditions with it which they don't tell you up front, and in all reality is most certainly illegal. I did an on-line search only for potential used vehicles, and was told to provide a deposit to hold the vehicle I had submitted a question about. After determining the vehicle would not meet my needs (totally on-line - sight unseen), they refused to refund the charge they made to my credit card. I made no purchase (vehicle, service or other), I didn't sign anything. No exchange of service or product occurred. I have made contact with them 4 times by phone and with a very detailed email sent directly to the General Manager. No one has returned my calls or emails and the refund has not been issued. The person who responded to my requests for information on-line was sales person, Joshua. The General Manager is Jake Crawford. This kind of shady, underhanded behavior speaks to lack of integrity and an overall disrespect for potential customers. read more

I ordered a Tahoe through this company. After waiting 6 months for delivery first one they sent me pictures of had the wrong interior color. Second one they sent me pictures had bucket seats second row when we ordered the bench seat. A few years ago we had a good experience with this place but from what I understand ownership has changed. A couple of my friends and step father have also had bad experiences here lately. So I would recommend looking somewhere else as now I need to go to another dealership and wait another 6 to 9 months to get a Tahoe. read more

The first salesperson was let go, the second salesperson, I was referred to was nice, but wasnt to interested in the sale, she didnt return emails or phone calls. I finally got a call from her today, which was almost a week since I asked a simple question, was the jeep flat towable. I actually got to tell her she lost the sale, I bought a beautiful jeep locally abd for less money. She actually lost two sales from us. We were going to try and trade our truck in also. So, in other words she lost out on good commissions and list her dealership in Idaho two sales. I will never try here again read more
This is solely based off of my phone call to the dealership. I was a potential out of state buyer. when I called I was greeted with a saleswoman. I quickly was put off by her. When she heard which other dealerships I was looking at, she instantly started slamming those dealers, and was trying her hardest by saying that would make me run away from those dealers. Her cheesy sense of humor, and slamming everyone else but her place of work really disappointed me. Dave smith only had two vehicles I was interested in, but we're advertised for one msrp price online, but when I called and spoke to her the price very quickly went up from what the internet price was. Pictures online did not match what she said the truck looked like. Everything seemed way off. This made me to nervous to be an out of state buyer that could not physically look at the truck before I bought it. read more

Dave Smith is bar bone the best place I've done business with when it comes to buying a vehicle. They've always given me a fair price on trade ins and their prices are the best in the country. Staff is usually knowledgeable and easy to deal with. I've pretty much deduced from my experiences with other car dealers that it's a waste of time to deal with anyone else. I've recently left Idaho but I'll likely continue doing business with Dave Smith since I can get a direct flight from Dallas to Spokane and drive home, saving thousand and getting in a good road trip. read more

If you're deaf and use Dave Smith Motors online chatting feature for a quote don't bother. The online chatting agent (Emily) will take your email and direct you to a sales person (Edie Edger) . All the questions Mr. Edgar needed was answered via email, in addition....any other future questions needed answered to not hesitate to ask, so a online quote could be produced. Even with all the information he requested, he won't give you a online quote. Mr. Edger stated "In order to ensure an accurate quote, a Sales Consultant would have to speak to you or someone who can communicate for you directly." Mr. Edger was informed many times via email that a translator wasn't available but if he wanted to do a Zoom call with someone in his office that knew ALS things could work out. A quote is ESTIMATE! If there isn't a question I can't answer via email that someone can answer face to face then fine I don't need to do business with you. He's not trying to work with me because I physically can't get someone on the phone that can speak with him one on one. read more

Couldn't have had a better experience as a first time brand new car buyer. Caroline was over the top helpful, trustworthy, and friendly. We were expecting a long and uncomfortable car salesman pitch when we arrived to pick up our new jeep, however, Caroline wasn't like that at all. She was honest and you could tell she really cares about her clients. I Will be recommending my friends and family to buy only from this dealership- and definitely use Caroline- although the other employees seemed great too! Thanks so much for our new beautiful SUV! read more

I shopped at Dave Smith Motors this past December for my first time looking to buy an new Truck. Be very careful of this operation. They lure you in with grand statements. Then they ask you to place a $500 deposit to hold the vehicle you are thinking of. DO NOT GIVE THEM ANY MONEY, YOU WILL NOT GET IT BACK EASILY.... I ended up buying a truck from another dealer and called my sales person to refund the $500. He said we "will see about that". It took me multiple phone calls and emails and voicemails to finally get my refund 6 weeks later. I had to call the sales manager. I asked him if there was a financial incentive for sales to lock customer funds. He said no. Also they offered me a couple of free Silver mountain ski tickets for taking a test drive. I asked about these and just got an email from my salesman that those were only for buying customers. What a scam outfit. BE VERY WARY OF DAVE SMITH MOTORS IN KELLOGG. I have a friend who bought a new Ram truck from Lithia in Spokane and he said they had better deals..... read more

I have bought 3 trucks and 2 Jeeps from Dave Smith Motors since 2000. I started the online and phone process of buying a new Ram and waited for 3 days for the salesman to call back and finalize the deal....didn't happen! So I call back and start the process over again with a new salesperson. After waiting two days I email again saying I'm still waiting and was told bluntly "we're super busy". After another week I went and bought a new Ram in Utah. Dave Smith Motors is not the same offering poor service and treats former clients like trash. All I can say it was a waste of time for a multi vehicle previous customer. Larry H Miller dealerships or Dennis Dillion if you're looking for Ram or GM product! read more

Dave Smith motors has Very unethical business practice in my opinion. I was searching for a new 2500 Denali that I needed right away and was told about the dealer by a colleague who mentioned they had a big selection. The sales woman on the phone located one she said was available. She offered a discount but stated and said I needed to place a $500 deposit on the car until the paperwork could be completed. I gave her my Credit card number for her to place on the documentation for me to review which she said would come via a "docusign". I received nothing further other than a link for a credit application. When I questioned her a day later she said the car was actually not in stock and she had no idea when it would arrive. My next call was to the sales manager and I was told the truck was in route on a train and would arrive and be ready in a " couple weeks". When I said that this would not work for me and to credit the charge that was placed without my written approval I was told there was nothing they could do to return my money and then all email and telephone correspondence stopped. Of course I have filled a dispute with my bank but the fact that I even had to go this far is ludicrous. Be very very careful dealing with this company. Buyer beware! read more

Shady dealership, Requested information about vehicles for over a month that I was trying to purchase and they gave me the run around. There is not any " no haggle pricing " . There is no customer care service, sales staff is unprofessional and rude. Found a Dealership in Spokane that made it easy to get pricing and purchase. read more

We had purchased 3 vehicles from Dave Smith Motors before this new purchase. We had an issue with our last purchase in 2016 but it was resolved and we left happy. This latest time we went it was HORRIBLE! We will never go back to them again. They copped an attitude with the pictures we sent of the vehicle, told us we needed to pay for a missing part that "they couldn't see from the pictures we took" and now we still have not received our deposit back!!! It's been almost 3 months and we are still waiting and cannot get the sales/financial guy to call us back. We have informed all of our family, friends and bosses this happened and they have all said they will not be going back either. Our bosses were planning on getting 5 new vehicles from them, but after this horror story they went to a different dealer. Our family, 7 vehicles purchased from DSM, and friends, 3-4 vehicles purchased from DSM, said they will not bother going back either. They've lost a lot of customers from our last visit. read more

I made the trip from Nevada to Idaho to do business with DSM and was happy with the whole truck buying experience. The process was easy, and the salesman was great. I would recommend these guys for your next car buying experience. However (yes - there is a however), don't pay the extra to have DSM put in a bed liner. Save the money you would pay them and go have it done by a professional. You'll save money and the job will be done right. They basically did no prep work and sprayed over all the hardware, including the light switch for the bed lights. Unfortunately, I didn't catch it before leaving the dealership and didn't realize it until my neighbor pointed it out while we were having a few beers and admiring my new purchase. I contacted DSM to see if they could do anything to make it right, but their answer was "that's their standard protocol on how they spray the bedliner." Kind of a shitty response, and there is not much I can do being that I'm 780 miles away. Yes, in the big scheme of things it's minor and will only require me to take a trip to my local Line-X dealer to make it right, but still - for what I paid for this truck, I shouldn't have to deal with something like this. What bums me out the most and is disappointing is the perceived attitude I got after the sale. Oh yeah, this was all via text messages, since I couldn't get a response from my emails. It would sure be nice if I could tell (text) my customers, and even my boss, "well, that's just the way I do it" whenever I screwed something up. I don't think I would get very far! Anyway, that's the end of my rant. Go to DSM and save lots of money. Again, some great people working there, and Kellogg is a hell of a charming town. read more

We are from Arizona and had been looking all over for help buying a Ram. My husband spoke with Miles Myles. :/ We thought we had a good deal on a truck and gave this Mr. Myles a $500 deposit to "hold the truck". He was supposed to send us a written offer via email. That was on September 9,2021. That was the last we ever heard from Dave Smith Motors. We called and left messages. We decided that if they would not send anything to us with a written offer, then we did not want to do business with them. It is now September 21, 2021 and we STILL have not heard from them and we STILL do not have our money. We now have to dispute the charge through our bank. This is the worse car dealership experience we've ever had in our 40 years of buying cars. Do not trust them! read more

Right up front, I wound up not purchasing a vehicle from this dealership. But the service was so exceptional that I still give them five stars. Grayson Coney was outstanding. He took the time to find out what I needed, walked me through my options, and provided me with excellent pricing after proactively applying any discounts that I was eligible for. He was responsive and helpful, with zero pressure. Because I live far away I had to take distance into consideration, as well, and we were unable to complete a deal but I can tell you that the pricing and service were excellent. If you live anywhere within a thousand miles of this dealership (which I don't) and need a new vehicle, either call or go in and ask for Grayson. Seriously, you will not be disappointed. read more

Heard lots of rumors how DSM was such a great deal. They even put you on a plane and drive you out there to get a new truck. Sounds too good to be true? Once you figure in they are trying to sell you trucks minus many popular options to make them look cheaper, I found the local dealerships are a better deal. Also, when they get your $500 non-refundable deposit, they notify the manufacturer the vehicle is sold. Why is this? Is it because these trucks are bonuses from the manufacturer which they likely paid nothing for? If they sold them for $1, it's profit. They may have every color of truck imaginable, unlike your local dealerships, but check closely which options they are leaving out. There is definitely no thousands of dollars savings. read more

Bottom line: The price they quoted before I flew out, was the price I paid after all was said and done. I respect and appreciate that immensely after all the crazy car sales folks I have dodged in the past at other dealerships. I just purchased a vehicle from DS in Kellogg Idaho. Overall, it was an experience that was different from the normal car dealership... in a good way with some understandable challenges that were handled professionally by their dealership. First, I was looking for an odd-ball and only DS had one... their sales associate worked with me since February trying to find a specific diesel model (EPA shut down production for 2017 & most of 2018)... So I found a used one that was in great condition and save a few grand. It was sort of a Unicorn as my sales associate called it. Second, they ask for a $500 down payment to pull it from inventory. Makes sense due to the travel and time it takes to get there. While some might complain about that, their time is money... understandable. Before I left, I chose their financing and their online process was easy... way easier than a high pressure dealership locally. They called me and told me the "out the door price" with a full breakdown of costs and what they were contributing to the deal (500 for new tires of my choosing). I flew out to Spokane and they picked me up at the airport and drove me to Kellogg where they had the car waiting for me to drive. The car was as described even to the small details from the sales associate... I give the sales associate high marks for honesty (paint chips and all) about a used vehicle before I even saw it in person. After that, the normal contract process where they offer the gap insurance, extended warranty, and the like (standard at every dealership). As easy as their online financing was, I wish this could have been shortened or at least given me unofficial copies to preview first before I flew out there. So much paper, but every car dealership does it this way. Overall, no pressure from them and I appreciate that they didn't try to push me into anything extra that I didn't want. After the sale, they had a hotel local that gave me a discounted room for the night ($50 before tax), would have been nice if it was complimentary for a weary traveler, but a discount is nice too. Beautiful area... wouldn't mind spending another day in Kellogg, but I had to get back. I would purchase again from Dave Smith Motors. NOTE: Verizon is best in Kellogg Idaho, MetroPCS has zero service and this was frustrating to contact my bank and insurance company for making the purchase. read more

This dealership lacks professionalism, experienced salespeople, in addition to bait and switching you with the dealer add on scam. If you ask them to remove the window tinting, paint protection, bed liners or undercoating, they will refuse. If you mention the legality of what they are doing, they will become defensive and refuse to sell you a truck. I will be contacting the Idaho Attorney General, the Better Business Bureau, as well as Dodge tomorrow. I have already tried to contact the General Manager as the GSM (I wont mention employee names out of respect) told me off and hung up on me for mentioning the words "legality and Attorney General". After, I called back to try and save the deal, inform him of the laws and my feelings of being taken advantage of, in addition to apologizing for mentioning the word "Attorney General", and offering them a good survey and review, he again became irate, told me "what he was doing was legal and he was squirly about selling me a car after I mentioned that I was thinking about reporting him" he said "we already worked you a hell of a deal and the sales manager that I was working with already said that the add on's were part of my deal" and hung up on me again. To be clear, we asked for 20% off MSRP on a 2019 Ram 2500 Power Wagon which had factory rebates, equaling close to that figure. The dealer add on's were close to $1,000 and we were not things we wanted. I offered to pay for their aftermarket bed liner but was not interested in the paint protection or tinted windows and was hoping that they would either remove them (which was common practice at the Toyota dealer which I worked at, non of the other dealerships which I have worked for played these games) or give us a service credit since we were local and planned to have the truck serviced there. Furthermore, I have worked for eight dealerships in every department over my 20 years in the automotive and power-sports industries and have owned two power-sports dealerships myself and have worked management at others. This place is by far the most unprofessional dealership which I have seen and one of the sleaziest. Dave Smith is extremely rude and hard on customers. You will however get a better deal here, then at other local dealers if your savvy and do not piss off the managers. Dave Smith also has a much larger in stock inventory then most dealerships within this country, which helps with things like dealer incentives. I would still purchase the Power Wagon that we were interested in at the deal we worked out over the past week of negotiations, even with the dealer add on's but would not do further business with them after that. Now it is to late to buy an equivalent 2019 truck as most other dealerships have sold their old inventory off so we will have to wait for next years incentives or pay thousands more for a 2020. If you do business with Dave Smith, I suggest you ask for all of the dealer add on's up front and also ask for all incentives up front, then look you deal and numbers over very carefully as these guys are not straight shooters. I would also advise that you shop them and buy elsewhere if you can get the same deal and a more reputable store. PS, I hate posting damaging reviews as I am also a business owner but felt it was needed here. I will post some good reviews in the not to distant future on the local good guys. read more

If you are considering a deal with Dave Smith Motors, I would caution you to avoid them at all costs. In 2006 I purchased a 3/4 ton Chevy Duramax from DSM and traded my relatively new 1/2 ton as part of the deal. Two weeks later they call and say they need the truck back because the financing wasn't approved. I told them to bring my truck back and get the new one. They told me my truck had been sold. Long story short, I visited first community credit union and had it financed at a better rate in an hour. September 2019- I am shopping for a new GMC Sierra 3500 HD long box crew cab diesel. DSM appeared to have the truck I was looking for (or so they said). I am contacted by a sales representative after an internet inquiry and told they have the exact truck I want. I ask for a window sticker and they send it. Fast forward to near the last day of September (about one week) and the sales rep tells me in order to lock down the price and get pictures I need to make a $500 refundable deposit. Honestly folks, this is where you should just walk away! I didn't walk away and gave them my card number because the price was right but still no pictures. I agree to let them see if they can beat the rate from my credit union (12-15 credit inquires) and they can't. Guess what, they ran so many credit checks it knocked us out of the tier 1 interest rate structure with our credit union so I agreed to let them finance at their best tier 1 rate (yea right). We make the deal and I arrange travel on October 3 for October 4. I have verified by email and text the truck is a crew cab long box 4x4 with a few other things. I am repeatedly assured it is. I finally get the long requested pictures of the truck the evening of October 3. The angles of the pictures did not clearly show the distance between the back of the cab and rear wheel so I asked again, "Is this a long box? I am once again assured it is. October 4, 2019 arrives and I am all checked in for the evening flight, hotel room all confirmed, things are good until 8:16 AM when the sales rep calls and says "I have to tell you the truck is actually a short box." Imagine what I am thinking at this point! I tell the rather nice young lady "this is a problem and I need your manager to call me." Keep in mind this is the same manager who promised me two different times I would not get screwed by DSM again (2006) and this would be "No hassles and red carpet treatment!" My flight is in 10 hours and they tell me they are gonna make it right. They immediately begin offering me 3/4 ton trucks that they will put air bags on and give me $400 for travel. All the trucks they offered up except one were $3000-$5000 more expensive and not within the approved loan limits. It's close to 1100 AM now (8 hours from flight) when I spend an hour on the phone trying to get refunded for the flight and hotel because this obviously isn't happening. I was successful after some effort to get fully refunded for the airfare and hotel. The back and forth with more expensive trucks and talk of them losing money (whatever) goes on into the night, when I finally say I want a refund. I get a one sentence email the next day which reads, "So it looks like you are no longer interested in buying here and are requesting a refund?" I reply, "Yes, I am requesting a full refund." Oh, did I forget to mention they told me I had to prepay the Oregon tax on the vehicle which I did. I quote their own deposit refund criteria which is not the truck promised, at the price promised, with the financing promised. The sales rep says she will process the refund request for the deposit but you have to deal with the State of Oregon to get your tax back. This is on October 5, 2019 and their communication with me went completely dark. October 14, 2019 and I still do not have my $500 deposit back and had to file paperwork with Oregon to get the tax back. I have been in the Oregon Fire Service for over 28 years and was using the GM First Responder Discount Program as part of the deal. They told me how much they honor first responders and respect what we do. Seems to me if you truly honor first responders you wouldn't hose them. I am here to warn all my fellow fire/ems and law enforcement brothers and sisters to stay away from Dave Smith Motors until they quit scamming people. Read reviews on their sales and financing tactics. I have actually found other dealers with better prices. I have written a letter to General Motors letting them know about my "No Hassle Dave Smith Experience #2" as well as copied RFJ Auto Partners (owns Dave Smith) and Dave Smith Motors. To date, I have yet to be contacted by the general manager. read more

So, I've tried on several occasions to buy a vehicle from this dealership and after yesterday 3/28 I'm done. They had a 2020 Ram truck listed on their special list. I called and got a salesman on the phone and he couldn't find the vehicle listed on his yard. I even asked him to get on his own website and confirm the stock # and vin #..he couldn't find the truck. I told him I wanted to buy the exact model and gave him several color options and confirmed I would pay the same posted special price..never got a call back. If I could give 0 stars I would, we were looking into buying a new truck started talking to one salesmen then different one contacted us. Long story short they took $500 for a "deposit" without our permission (must of used bank info on paystub). Since we we're still shopping around and not even set on a vehicle yet we don't know what vehicle they put this holding deposit on. The sales person would start something promise to call us back then wouldn't hear anything from her. Then when we told them we wanted our $500 back that they took out without our okay. That's when the true colors came out rude, and unprofessional. The sales person, managers, are all so rude when it comes to wanting money back. So now we wait to see if they will refund us cause by reading these reviews from others it dosnt look like it happens often. So if your looking into buying a car run far away from this place. read more

The worst car buying experience I have EVER had! DO NOT do business with them! 2 years ago my husband bought a Chevy Silverado from Dave Smith Motors and we had a great experience. Both my mother and father in law have also purchased vehicles from Dave Smith in the past with great experience. My parents and siblings have also purchased from them as well. No one had ever had a bad experience so I didn't think twice when looking for a vehicle for myself. We contacted them first when looking to purchase and Starkey was the salesman who answered our call. He seemed very knowledgeable and helpful when looking at vehicles. We were only looking at vehicles at the time and wanted to know what bottom dollar was for some of the vehicles I was looking at. I had not test driven any vehicles yet and told Starkey I was planning on doing so a few days later. He pressured us into putting a $500 deposit on one of the vehicles I was looking at online as we live out of state and stated it would be refundable if I decided I didn't like the model after test driving. I was hesitant to put the deposit down and wanted him to email me stating my deposit was refundable. He then stated our conversation was recorded and his manager would sign off on refunding the deposit if I didn't like how the vehicle drove. Well after test driving multiple vehicles I decided to wait and test drive a few more before making a decision. I wasn't ready to buy. When I asked about getting my deposit back he told me his manager John would be reaching out to me. Of course that never happened and Starkey began screening our calls. My husband was able to get ahold of Jack who claimed our deposit would be refunded in 7-10 days. That was over a month ago and I still don't have my money! I absolutely will NEVER EVER buy another vehicle from them again after this! I'm almost positive the vehicle my $500 deposit is still sitting on has been sold. It's absolutely ridiculous that they have stolen my money! It sounds like we aren't the first to have been ripped off. We will not be giving up on getting our money back and will take the necessary steps to do so. I'm outraged at the unprofessionalism we have encountered during this experience Dave Smith Motors. 8/29/19- After writing this review and a few emails back an fourth we were able to get our deposit back. Although DSM did eventually refund our money it was a huge hassle and took way too long. As Tricia states below that we received our refund 1/22 it is not true. It took weeks before we finally got the refund. read more

We are very sorry to hear of this circumstance and we are researching…
Be sure to read over your sales paperwork good. Got charged $1350 for estimated DMV fees. They wrote a check out to our tax department (stupid because that's not what the dmv is called) asked if we could send the check back for a check out in our name and they said no. The tax department is different from the DMV here in Hawaii. We have to pay 2 separate places. Got charged the $1350 but can't even get reimbursed for the money that is rightfully ours. Will definitely recommend everyone MOT to buy a vehicle here read more

This was definitely worth the trip from California to Idaho - what an experience! While emails and conversations were made before we decided to purchase the truck, we never once felt pressured, as with other dealership experiences. Our flight from California to Idaho was taken care of by Dave Smith. And when we arrived at Spokane Washington Airport, a van was patiently waiting for us! When we walked through the dealership door, the energy from all the employees was amazing! From Doug (Manager), Luke (Parts Specialist), to our "cream of the crop" Salesman (Waldo Boyd), we were treated like a king and queen during the entire process! Waldo was definitely the best salesman we have ever had - very knowledgeable, professional, personable, and actually made us feel like family! We have never experienced such excellent treatment..... We left the dealership with smiles on our faces and will definitely return to Dave Smith Automotive - hopefully next year!! Thank you for making this a very enjoyable experience, and especially a big thank you to Waldo Boyd. John and Carol Brennan read more

Wife & I drove to Dave Smith in Kellogg yesterday to look at a new Jeep Grand Cherokee. They claim to be the largest Jeep Dealer in the area. When we arrived it appeared to be a very busy place. We walked in through the Dodge Ram area and proceeded on into the Jeep show room. There were many sales people & customers around, probably 30+ desks. We stopped & looked at 2 or 3 vehicles in the show room, helped ourselves to coffee and proceeded out the far door into the lot. We looked at 2 or 3 Rubicon's and found 3 or 4 Grand Cherokee ' s. After looking around the lot for 20 or 30 minutes we headed back through the show room, stopped to look at the Jeep Pickup they were giving away, used the restroom & left. So we walked probably 50 yards though this bustling show room twice, spent time looking around the lot and no one saw fit to ask to assist us? This is in line with my experience at Dave Smith a couple years ago in Coeur D'Alene. Went in to look at an Alfa Romeo. The sales person there was very unhelpful and would only respond to direct questions about the vehicles. In short, I certainly don't have to drive 50 miles to be ignored by a car dealer. Will avoid Dave Smith in the future!!! read more

Largest inventory I have ever seen!!! Seriously over 25 car lots of inventory. Huge amount of inventory. Company located in small town Idaho but does big time nation wide sales. They have a slogan of hassle free sales and they stand by it. Salesmen are friendly and not pushy. Biggest down side was they appear to currently have a large number of "new guys" for salesman, lacked some sales experience, but did not deter from buying from them. I plan on returning to buy again. read more

I just bought a 2022 Ram 2500 diesel Laramie - $83K. I ordered it 2 months ago. The sales person was actually very good except that I got hit with a $2K increase when the truck finally showed up. That was not expected. The parts person I ordered extras or add-ons was excellent - could not be better. Then the day came (Saturday) when I drove from Seattle to Kellogg to pick up the truck. I had a cashier's check and they had already charged $5K on my AMX. I told the sales person I had to leave no later than 11:00 a.m. because I cannot see / drive at night and had to go over Snoqualmie pass (where it was heavily snowing). The dealership could care less. I arrived at 8:30 a.m. and asked them to put a tow hitch and mud flaps on my truck. Hours later they could not find the truck anywhere on their properties. It is now noon - no sign of my truck and I still have not signed the paperwork - why not? Good question. At 12:30 they located my truck and told me it would be another 30 minutes with the finance person. THAT was an experience to forget. He was the rudest, condescending person I have ever met - including asking me if I wanted to do a POA to sign documents for me. All I kept telling everyone was I had to get on the road to get back to Seattle before nightfall. I left at 12:45 - no registration or copy of anything I signed. I asked for a pdf but that did not happen - nor did I get an owners manual and since my last Ram was a 2006 with little technology, I am now spending my time watching YouTube videos. The worst part about this was today. I decided instead of writing a letter, I would call and ask to speak to a manager. I called three times and finally a "sales manager" got on the phone and said he was there and saw everything and that I "forgot" my owners manual in the finance office. The sales person had told me he put it in the truck. I am not sure who was worse, the sales manager or the finance person. But IF you buy a truck there, BEWARE. I am sorry I did not buy from my pervious dealer. They, at least, had decent customer service. read more

First of all, I absolutely hate to write a negative review of a business. I recognize that all businesses have hard working people just trying to make it. That being said, my experience at Dave Smith was so egregiously unacceptable I feel that others need to know and avoid them in the future. Below is the email I sent to the sales manager after I was sent an email asking for feedback. Hi Scott, I received the email below after purchasing a Ram 2500 last Tuesday at your dealership. It was one of the most bewildering and frustrating sales experiences I have ever been a part of. While your email encourages me to post a review on Google or Facebook, I felt it would be better to give this information straight to you. Here are the Cliff Notes on my experience... I worked with Conrad, one of your sales associates via phone and email in the days leading up to Tuesday. During that period we agreed on a sale price, a couple of accessory changes that I wanted added to the vehicle and a rough price on my trade in. My financing was in place. The deal was basically done. We agreed that I would arrive at your dealership at 2 p.m., which I did. I expected the truck to be ready for a quick test drive, the paperwork to be ready, work out any minor details, then hit the road. This was not how it went. I arrived at 2 p.m. Conrad was nowhere to be found. I waited about 45 minutes before he was even found. From there, I was parked in a seat for five and a half hours while he intermittently floated through, offering little or no updates on what was going on. It was immediately clear that he was not prepared to get this deal done. Each maddening step to the process was punctuated by him disappearing, sometimes to help another customer, sometimes just disappearing for long periods of time. At around 5:30 I finally was able to test drive the vehicle. I did not sign until after 7 p.m. To further fuel my frustration, as I drove away from the dealership I realized that the extra key to the vehicle was not left in it. I turned around to head back to the dealership where, you guessed it, Conrad was nowhere to be found and could not be reached by phone. One of the sales managers apologized and stated that he would track the key down and mail it to me along with a $500 check for my trouble. As I drove away a second time, I realized that the truck was nearly out of gas. Conrad had stated during our test drive that it would be filled up. More frustration. I made the drive over from Gig Harbor, Washington. About a five hour drive. We planned on driving back that night. By the time I finally got out of Kellogg it was nearly 8 p.m. and I decided to get a hotel in Coeur d'Alene instead of driving home. This forced me to change my plans for Wednesday morning. This process was obviously frustrating. I felt as though a very inexperienced sales person was turned loose with little or no adult supervision or knowledge of the sales process. This is not the type of service I, or anyone would expect when purchasing a 50-thousand dollar vehicle. I would hope that this in an anomaly and not the regular way of doing business at Dave Smith Motors. I am a firefighter, in a department of 300 members, most of whom drive a truck. I would have loved to be singing the praises of your company, saying it was worth the 5-hour drive, while my coworkers are checking out my new truck. Unfortunately, they have to hear this story. As a sidenote, My friend and coworker rode over with me. He is in the market for a new truck and wanted to see your dealership. He sat there for the better part of three hours (he finally had enough and walked down the street to a tavern while I continued to wait). He was never approached by a member of your staff despite walking all over looking at rigs, thumbing through brochures, etc. He even asked questions about rigs on a couple occasions, yet was still not engaged by a member of the sales team. They simply answered the question and moved along. We began to make a game of it. How can he look any more "in the market". Nothing. Needless to say, he won't be making another trip over to Idaho when he buys his truck. Although I am very happy with my truck. The sales process was unacceptable. I will buy my next truck elsewhere. Sincerely, Mike Bellerive After nearly a month, I received nothing. No $500 check as promised, no call, no email, nothing. I called and spoke to a Sales Manager that had been part of my process on two occasions. He assured me that they would be sending me a check for my trouble. I stand here today, six months since the purchase. I decided to finally write this review although I most certainly did not want to. Ultimately, the decision to travel all the way to Idaho from Western Washington to buy a vehicle comes down to a value proposition comparing the deal you could get locally vs. at Dave Smith Motors. After my experience, I would strongly encourage you to buy local. read more

DONT BUY a used car from them unless you have your own code reader that shows deleted codes and get your OWN FULL inspection! My teen had the car for less than 24 hours when it threw codes. They looked at it and said it was a "faulty code, might be a sensor $350. They will refund him that. " Had it back for 2 days and codes again. Got it to our mechanic and over 30 codes have been erased right before we bought it! Brakes were bad. One wasn't even attached to the pad! Rotors were bad! "Faulty code" is visible wear in timing chain! We were told by 4 mechanics this should have NEVER passed inspection! They take advantage of a young buyer in a tough spot and put him in a car that could have gotten him killed! read more

Trying to purchase a car from this dealership has been an awful experience. For the past three weeks I've been trying to order a 2019 Wrangler Unlimited Rubicon, and nobody will return any of my calls. This is legitimately the easiest sale they can make, all they have to do is build the Jeep and order it. I have even sent emails to Trace Fedele and all efforts have been futile. I've spoke to three different salesman, who have all failed to return my call. If you're thinking about traveling to Dave Smith to purchase a car, GOOD LUCK! Just go to a local dealership! read more

We contacted them about purchasing a Chevy Tahoe. We were eventually able to find one on the production line. We placed a $1,000 deposit and started the process. We never signed a single document and only received a spec sheet and receipt for our deposit. When the vehicle finally arrived, the salesman sent over a price that was not what we had discussed. We contacted them to refund the deposit and they advised they have a no refund policy. I located their policy only through a Google search, we had never received a copy. It states that deposits are only $500 and that they must receive a signed disclosure agreement in order to place a deposit. We never signed anything. They have also referred to a recording of our conversation. I was never notified I was being recorded, a violation of Idaho and Nevada law. Conveniently they are now refusing to even respond to multiple emails. We've filed with the Idaho Attorney General Consumer Protection Division and the Better Business Bureau. We feel bullied and like we are not worth even a moment of their time. I would not recommend dealing with this company. We are now at a point of pursuing legal action. This has been a horrible customer service experience. read more

Ordered a new Denali 6 months ago from Dave Smith GMC in Kellogg ID. Was told by JD Deno that it would take 6-8 weeks. It is now over 6 months and my truck has been built for over 4 months and is sitting in a lot in Michigan, but no one at Dave Smith or GMC will give me any information at all about a projected finish date. GMC.com is USELESS! They told me to reach out to Dave Smith CES. But they cant/wont tell me who that person is. Apparently my new truck is waiting on a chip, but I am 100% confident they are using the chips on trucks that are not already sold. Dont be fooled by Dave Smith motors. They are out to get your deposit and then never care to talk to you again. Customer service is non-existent. Most horrendous vehicle buying experience I have EVER had. read more

Edie Edgar was my salesperson. I spent 30 minutes with her on the phone on a Friday night. Got a ridiculous price on a NEW 2019 Ram Bighorn crew cab. On Sunday I packed for a 14 hour drive, arrived mid morning Monday in Kellogg. Within 20 minutes Edie brought me the exact same deal she gave me over the phone. She was light out the best sales person I've ever bought a vehicle from. I'd buy here over and over for the rest of my years. I hope she's around for my next purchase, Dave smith if you're reading this you need to keep and reward people like her! read more

We got into an accident on our way to Florida, we were forced to spend the night in Kellogg. The following morning I ran our New Expedition into Dave Smith and asked if they would check it out for me. They pulled it in, patched it up and made it drivable for us to continue our trip. We've spent the past 3 months looking for a large truck. Dave Smith has been the only helpful, considerate, welcoming and motivated dealership we could find in all ID, WA, OR. We dealt with Colby, who send us pictures and info anytime the right truck showed up and treated me with respect and kindness when all other dealerships had asked "what my husband wanted". Will continue to shop there. 11/10 service. read more

It would seem that my experience with this quasi-criminal organisation is consistent with anyone else on here who has also had a one-star experience. I would also like to point out that I have worked in and out of the automotive industry most of my adult life, and am former dept manager (not sales) of a dealership myself. NEVER, in my life, have I seen such conduct out of a sales dept. And that really, really says something. They have gone through a lot of trouble to earn every word of this honest, and thorough review. I first came in to contact with Dave Smith motors on 05/21/18 after an adolescent salesman named Kobe cold-called me in Seattle trying to sell me a car. This was one of several such calls I received after a different dealership i had made a cursory inquiry with illegally sold my information to about a half dozen random others. I told him what the deal was with that, but I said I would hear him out on some other cars. As my now-deceased father bought no fewer than THREE trucks from this dealer in his life with satisfaction. So, I told Kobe what I wanted, what I had to trade in (all in great detail). He chose a car from inventory (a 2018 Jeep Compass) that fit the bill, but was in the upper echelon of my price range with all assurances it would be fine for financing. All of this was over the phone, where I had to hand-hold him through every bit of the process (I was very assured from the outset that I was either his first customer ever, or his last) as he seemed to have no clue what details were needed as part of this kind of doing business. I had to give him my car's VIN SEVEN times (and he still requested it to be sent by print later that day, not yet having it). When he said he was going to take the info off to finance, I had to text him and give him the rest of the information he would need to doon, as they were ''just about to begin'' on my paperwork process....the day before I was to go get the car. I immediately text Kobe, and tell him of this, and remind him that after the 30th, I lose the incentives. And in a week's time period, I will make a new payment on my existing car, and walk. He says he will get an update from them in the morning. Morning comes, and he says they will have all ready to go by the 2nd. Assuring me not one single parameter of the deal would change regardless (dis-believable as that was). So, I move heaven and earth again at work to make a trip on the 2nd doable. And remind him, that any more surprises will make his managers my new hobby once more. And also mention that the story has changed on a daily basis, and I am not happy one bit about that. He promises an update the next day. Next day comes and goes, no Kobe. I text him the following morning thanking him for the lack of an update. He then claimed that no such promise of an update was made. Which I pointed to in the text right above where he said just that the last time we had talked. I said I WILL be getting updated that day and the next, and that I no longer believe the 2nd to have any importance for them. Another day goes by, no update. I demand that a manager calls me. And he ceases communication mid-conversation. This is the 1st of June mind you. The day BEFORE I was to go get the car. I have to leave a message with his direct manager (Cameron) to call me ASAP. Hours later I get a call from him, and he says he has my file, financing is approved and all ready to go. I ask him to read its contents to me: Not one single detail of financing is what I asked for. And he replies with ''Oh? What did you ask for?'' That earned the only coarse exclamation of the day from me, for which I immediately apologized, as he was new to this matter, and it was not he who had jerked me around for two weeks to date. I told him that was of course unacceptable though, particularly after all of this work and time; ON the day I was to pick up the car to boot. He offered to refund my holding fee, which I assured I would be accepting. And then went on to mention that I will re-visit this car buying matter in some months, with a larger down payment around Labour day sale time. And that after this treatment of someone who came to his dealership because his father had bought SEVERAL cars there in the past, I would not be doing that business anywhere near it. He then got very cross, and hung up on me. I have had no indication nor confirmation of any sort of refund. Much less an apology. I will get whatever authorities I need involved to get my money back. And those that know me know one doesn't want to be in between me and anything I actually feel like doing...such as, when I actually felt like buying a car from the ''number one dealer''. Whom ever from Dave Smith reads this review, you are going to call me first thing in the morning, or you are going to regret it. I do NOT say things I do not mean. I need not waste any more words describing how and how often I was attemptedly screwed over in the course of this all. read more

Warning to anyone wanting to buy at Dave Smith Automotive. This place was a nightmare! We had a truck picked out that we were planning on buying. My husband worked with Owen a sales rep during the initial process over the phone. We are out of state buyers... Ten hours away. Anyhow, the sales rep found the truck we were specifically after and then informed us that they needed a 500.00 deposit. We didn't like that one bit and basically told them that if they wanted to make the sale we were not paying the deposit. Owen's words were "I'll check on this and see how bad the boss wants to make the deal" We did hear back and Owen informed us that the deposit was not needed. His words were " done deal". We also kept all of this correspondence via text just in case. Second complaint... We lined everything out with the deal and we're going to leave the following week. Owen told us that the truck would be there and ready. We called the day before we had made arrangements to leave and Own had no idea where the truck was. Couldn't find it... We stayed in limbo not knowing if we were going to leave (10 hour drive) or not. I wondered if this sales rep would have even called us to let us know the truck was not there yet... So glad we checked. Third complaint.... A couple weeks pass and still no truck. Communication was just plain awful and completely unprofessional. Finally heard back from Owen and got a confirmation on truck arriving. We asked for some pics and that seemed to be complicated as well. We did end up getting a pic after many go- arounds. Fourth issue... We drive all the way to Kelli gg, arriving around 10:00 am. The dealership knew we were coming that day to pick up. When we got there, it seemed very unprofessional, no real greeting or communication. Owen looked frazzled/ confused. We asked to see the truck and he couldn't seem to find it. We waited in the lobby with our three children,(two, six and thirteen) and proceeded to wait, and wait...We weren't expecting to be in and out but what we went through was rediculous. Owen kept saying "I'll be right back" and "shouldn't be too much longer". At 1:00 we still hadn't seen the truck and didn't know what was going on. We demanded to tak with owen's supervisor, "Zig". He looked just as frazzled and acted like he was too busy to talk with us. We quickly looked over some paperwork and discussed our trade/in. He assured us that we would be on the road in no time. All the while we are still waiting to see/ drive this truck. He basically sent us back to the Lobby. 4:00 rolls around, we're still in the lobby with our three kids and got no info. We asked to speak with Owen and Zig again... Still no truck or explanation for what's taking so long. 5:00 comes and we finally get to peek at the truck for a total of two mins. Next complaint..... 5:30 we start the paperwork process. We get almost complete and the finance manager says we need that down payment of 500 to finish off the deal. I inform him that we were told we did not need to hand over any cash... Even had the text as proof. We have a check ready to hand over for our agreed on cost. At this point the finance guy has to call Owen and Zig back in to discuss the 500. Zig's boss Pual now gets involved. Zig and Paul acted like we were more of a pain than a customer ready to hand over some big money. We all had a very heated discussion.... And at that point they gave us some options. Cancel deal, they offered to cover half of the 500 or take a major hit on our trade. None of this sounded good. This was not what was agreed on or what we were told by Owen. We continued to talk/which continued into a yelling match between us Paul and zig. Completely unbelievable... Much dishonesty and unprofessionalism. Needless to say Paul was so completely arrogant he called the deal off. So nine hours later we walked out. Do not buy here! Save yourself a headache.... The three men/boys we dealt with were [non-permissible content removed] and just didn't like us challenging them. It became more of an ego thing than making the sale... Disgusting behavior displayed and pure dishonesty, disorganization and lack of communication! read more

We finally gave Dave Smith a try after all of the negatives we had heard about their company. Dave Smith tried working with us as out of state buyers, until we received the car from the shipping company. Conditions of the sale from Dave Smith were as follows: Vehicle was freshly detailed, vehicle was fully serviced, they would replace summer tires with 10 ply tires and put summer tires in the back of the car for shipment, they would install a three-way battery, block, and oil pan heater, they would pay to ship car to Washington, and they would prepare the vehicle, (fuel level and other requirements), for shipment to Alaska. As we have purchased many vehicles, we said we would not purchase the vehicle if these conditions were not met. Before the sale, the salesman said they would ship and prepare for shipment, detail, service, do service work, but not replace the tires, so we said no sale. The next day, the salesman called back and said they would replace the tires and put the summer tires in the back of the vehicle. So, all of the conditions were met, we agreed to the sale. When we received the car after 3 months, the truck delivery service instantly showed us the report of the damages on the vehicle prior to shipment. Our salesman told us the car was "freshly detailed" and mentioned nothing of the chips, cracks, and dents in the vehicle. However, I did not expect the car to be perfect. But, this could have been mentioned prior to the sale. The salesman also promised us the good, used tires as a condition of the sale of the vehicle, and said they were in the back of the vehicle. There were no tires in the back of the vehicle. We emailed our wonderful salesperson. During email correspondence, he said "Accessories lost your tires, not me", and "you can call Triangle transport for any damages they did". Most importantly, there was very little oil in the car upon arrival. A condition of the sale was the vehicle was freshly serviced. In an email, we were told by the salesman, "As far as I know the oil and filters are changed on all our used rig so yours should have been changed as well". This should be on a sticker or documented. But, he was unable to tell us for sure. Thankfully, I checked and added oil before driving anywhere. During more email correspondences, our salesman replied, (all spelling errors have been left as he wrote them), "I thought the Tahoe was one of the cleanest pre owned Tahoe's I have ever seen. It was a good deal and we gave you a substantial discount and payed for shipping so if you want to send us a check back for all the discounts, shipping and the crevice bill to drop the fuel tank and siphon the gas then I think we are even. Generally people are tickled pink with the vehicles and experience when here. It sounds like you folks are new car buyers that just dint want to spend the $." If the car had arrived as promised, we were on our way to purchase another new company and/or personal vehicle from their dealership. This salesman clearly does not understand how many sales he has just lost for Dave Smith. Not only from our family and business, but everyone we speak to. This salesman was completely rude, did not follow through on his conditions of the sale, and needs some further training in customer service. Even if a customer is wrong, his rudeness and arrogance is completely uncalled for. We would highly advise going elsewhere to purchase new or used vehicles. read more

My steel guy & his wife gave me some great feedback on their experience last Saturday out at Dave Smith..(& they don't do yelp......so..here's what they said): "We were very apprehensive to go to another state to purchase a truck, especially with Dave Smith Autos with the mixed/low reviews we saw..aside from the bit than normal wait time to sign our finance papers...(it was a Saturday..so busy). we are very happy. From the shuttle pick up at the airport, to driving away in our new truck..we were beyond amazed & pleased. We were called & texted at all times before & after the purchase making sure we were happy & ok..at all times. Shuttle Driver-Kind & courteous & knowledgeable. Boston-our sales guy-Kind, attentive & honest & straightforward, caring & beyond helpful. Axel-our stand in sales guy-an exceptionally wonderful guy-positive, caring, helpful, goes above & beyond, even put a big red bow on the truck for us. Jon-in finance-kind & thoughtful. Austin in financing-Amazing--we really cannot say enough about him..he is a true GEM. Some of the low reviews are definitely from lack of knowledge & not doing your homework or a just from a general lack of common sense. Every buyer can look at the car-fax. & Every buyer should take the vin # of the truck/car they are looking at & have their insurance company do a pre-quote on it-if you have a good insurance co. they can tell you right away the vehicle history, claim record etc. on any vin#. Every buyer can put the vin # into nada.com for the value. Every buyer should check out all aspects of what they are thinking of buying, including the finance side so you have no surprises. Every buyer reads the $500 deposit statement before they sign it & the terms on it. Every buyer can confirm & get a response via email & text with Dave Smith auto that all is 100% good to go before they make the trip out. Every buyer can get the personal cell phone of the salesman they are dealing with. Every buyer can confirm 100% with their sales guy if the truck/car is available & will be 100% ready. Every buyer can negotiate & even on the "bits" if something is wrong once your there. Every buyer can ask for a more experienced sales or finance person if the one you have isn't up to par. Look around at your local dealer- Especially in Utah at the price per odometer reading & year. Not one single Utah dealer could touch what Dave Smith offered. Not one-we researched for 4 months. Look around at your local dealer-hear the crickets in the lot? No-one is there-places are empty...Dave Smith's was packed & we had a California firefighter & a couple from Hawaii in our shuttle with us. We are VERY picky & detailed oriented, difficult customers, no matter what we are buying. They came through for us hands down. We are actually still in awe how well it went & how well it all worked out. Axel even texted us on Sunday to make sure we got home ok & all was still good....tell me where you are ever going to get that kind of customer care anywhere? Very rare!.. Thanks again to all out there. " read more

Honestly. This was my favorite place to do business. Until recently. They bent over backwards to help me. I had some tricky situations and they were able to help out.. with what seemed seemlessly. Today I received a call from Wells Fargo. A company that I held a loan through for a vehicle that I traded in with Dave Smith Motors 3/2016. It is now 12 months later and I have been informed that my vehicle I traded in was NOT paid off properly during the trade to the tune of over $9,000 and got sent into a Charge-Off instead of Paid off status of some kind (yes the vehicle was behind payments, but I had a settlement 10-day pay off) . I also received a 1099 in the mail for the same amount from Wells Fargo. I would like to believe that the error falls under Wells Fargo end because they are a shady company to begin with and I fully trusted Dave Smith for business. However, after a very lengthy phone call with Wells Fargo. I do not believe it was on their end. At this point I am at a total loss. I get that people make mistakes, I make them everyone does. But a mistake in this amount.. whether it was paid or reported properly/incorrect etc is detrimental to me or anyone for that matter. Not only does my credit suffer, but not everyone has 9k laying around to fix these kind of errors....I have also called and left a message at the dealership in hopes that we can all resolve this issue in a timely fashion. This is only the tip of the iceberg... again I did business in August 2016. I bought a 2012 Terrain with less the 90k miles on it, oil changed regularly.. that needed not only ONE but TWO new engines by 12/2016. Thank their lucky stars warranty covered that. Unacceptable. It's now Feb 2017 and I was just able to pull the car out of the shop I took it to on 2/15/2017. I also had post dated some checks to come out 2 weeks later for the down payment... the money was not taken out of my account until Oct... 3 Months Later 3 Days in a row.. Granite I had the $3313 dollars in my account to cover these. You would think that the payments would have came through before my FIRST payment I had in Sept 2016 for this vehicle. I will be seeking legal advice on all the above counts if I feel it is necessary. read more

Let me start by saying I'm completely shocked and amazed by this dealership. We are from Spokane WA and went online to truck shop. Found Dave Smith and submitted a form on what we are looking for. The next day got a call from a man named Phillip. Was super polite and helpful. Helped me over the phone find vehicles and look at them online. We found one we liked, but we were hesitant to buy a vehicle online and so far away. Phillip eased our minds explaining we can have it looked at by a mechanic of our choosing. Fast forward, we make the 2 hour trip to Dave Smith, see the car, buy the car without having it looked at. My fault completely, not Dave Smiths. It was a used truck and with buying used vehicles have issues. We get it home have a mechanic run thru it and they find almost $1700 in things wrong. I wasn't to happy. I emailed the manager of the section of the store we bought the car from and explained my dissatisfaction with this truck and the issues. Now I no its buyer beware and sold as is but I was mad. Within minutes Brian H called me and told me that he apologies for this and by no means is this the practice of there company to let a car leave there lot with issues. He told me to find a mechanic, have all the issues fixed and bill them. No cost to me what so ever. So within 2 days of buying the vehicle getting it home finding the problems, they were all fixed and cover by Dave Smith. It didn't take weeks, there was no phone tag, no games, no hassel, no questions asked. This has got to be the best car buying and sales experience I have had with any car lot. Normally it's sorry as is. Can't help you. Blah blah. Not with Dave Smith in Kellogg. I recommend anyone to give them a shot. Talk with Phillip Howard and Brian Hall for a good experience. This is a true and accurate experience. No gimmicks. Thanks guys. David and Samantha from Spokane Wa..... read more

The best dealership experience ever. I searched online and got contacted by Trevor Thomas. From the beginning there was knowledge, understanding of my needs and never any try to steer me into buying something else. He was ultra patient when I explained to him that I had many things going on for me at this same moment in my life and was very upset with some of the dealership I had already dealt with. After one month searching for the right price for my truck, the decision was made to drive all the way to ID. When you get there, they acknowledge you and don't make you wait around. Trevor was even more outstanding in person. We went straight to business. They even got me a better rate then what my credit union of 12 years offered. There are some sales pitches, but no one pushes it too hard and if you decline them, politely, then that's it. They were speedy and friendly all the way. Everyone working there seemed very knowledgeable and satisfied in being there. When we got to talk to the finance person, another surprise. Austin Garrett is the easiest finance person I ever had to talk to. Knows what he is doing, understands and explains everything you ask, and I asked a lot. Dave Smith was the best all around. Shame on the rip offs that we have here in Portland, Washington and anywhere close. They pull your teeth out to give you a truck. They are the ones that give car dealers the bad reputation they have. Dave Smith is on the other end of the spectrum. They earn your business and your respect. You feel confident that you can refer them to friends and family. This was my third new vehicle purchase and the most pleasant one. I will drive any friend of mine, who's looking to buy a truck, all the way to little Kellogg, ID. They will be thankful I did so. read more

Our family has bought 4 vehicles from Dave Smith Motors. We loved each deal, and the people that served us. My wife hates buying cars, but she loves going to this dealership. We travel 725 miles from So. Or. for outstanding deals in the past. I am now looking to buy my dream car--a new Challenger SRT8 Core. OK guys sharpen your pencils,so I can bragg on the deal I got on this one too. If you make this happen this will be the 5th vehicle we've purchased from Dave Smith Motors. By the way I've refered people from my business to yours to buy new cars. They too have traveled 725 miles for a great deal. Lithia down here in my area cannot touch you guys. It's the most fun We've ever had buying a new car. My wife looks forward to the trip. I look forward to the car. I need a real good deal on this (retirement) car that I want to buy in this terrible economy. I hope this goes back the other way through the chain of command,so the powers that be up there see this. Will be calling you again very soon. I've been waitting for this Challenger since they came out. Hope we can strike a very good deal. We could go right here close to us,and buy,but too many games have been played in the past. If I never end up with my car,I wouldn't buy it here. For all of us on this end of the country that buy from you--we get a good deal, and you sell a vehicle. We drive off,and you never see that vehicle again, unless we bring it back to trade on another. It's a win, win. Thanks, John N read more

I decided to get a new Ram 2500 diesel Crew, do to the fact that my Chevy Silverado 2500HD could not handle my new camp trailer so went to a few dealerships here in Bend/Portland area, and was not really happy on how I was treaded and prices, so I called up Dave Smith and got Devin Van Allen. He was great from the get go I was just calling to see about prices and options and Devin was not pushy at all and went over everything with me (I ask a lot of questions and I have to know everything before I make up my mind) I told him I needed to think about things and he still was not pushy at all I did follow up with Devin the next day with a list of options I wanted and Devin was able to get me the truck I was looking for and with every option I wanted and even was able to get it a color I wanted. I was able to work with Devin all week and he took care of the whole deal over the phone NO BS NO TRICKS!! They told me right up front what I was going to get for my two trades... I will never go anywhere else to get my next truck and was the BEST truck buying experience EVER!!!!!!! They even bought us dinner, no dealership has ever just offered to do this I have always had to ask. It was well worth the 1k mile round trip to get my truck. NO dealership here in Bend could even come close to what Dave Smith and Devin did for me. Devin you ROCKED IT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Dave Smith you have a customer for life now.... read more

I had an issue with a new car I purchased from DSM. It involved the wrong paint color being ordered (just for the record there are 2 blacks for GM vehicles....Onyx and Carbon). Anyway the salesperson ordered a carbon black and I had wanted a onyx black. The salesperson originally thought there was only one black option. I picked up my vehicle on a Saturday and the following Tuesday I found out that there was a onyx black available for 2011 GM vehicles. I was bummed out, because the carbon black was not as nice as the onyx. I asked for DSM to consider letting me return this vehicle for the proper color, because I had documented in emails my original request for an onyx black vehicle. I had already put about 600 miles on the new vehicle. I received a call from the GM as well as Ken Smith (DSM owner). They apologized for the issue and said they would order me the proper color vehicle from the factory to exchange for the vehicle I currently had. The part that really blew me away was that Ken told me to just keep the new car I was driving until my new car arrived from the factory, so I would not be inconvenienced at all. Their apology and generosity have made me a life long DSM customers. I have always known you could not beat their pricing, but now I know you cant beat their customer service either. They have created a raving fan! Michael H. read more

As an equine rescue based in southern Utah, our ongoing duties prohibited us from making the journey to north Idaho to inspect the 2009 Ram Cummins we wished to purchase from Dave Smith Motors. As a condition of purchase, we were assured through phone and internet conversations that an intricate inspection would be conducted by their "crack" inspection team, and corrections would be made to anything found prior to shipment/delivery of the vehicle. Sadly, we proceeded with the purchase, and within 24 hrs of receipt of the vehicle we discovered multiple mechanical discrepancies. It was clear that either no inspection took place, or the dealership felt no compulsion to correct any of the easily discoverable issues, which included significant oil leaks among the myriad of irregularities. As a result, we were forced to have the vehicle inspected by our mechanic, forced to correct the multiple discrepancies ourselves, and forced to pay 50% of the approximately $5,000 in repairs for our troubles. The actions, or more correctly inactions, of Dave Smith Motors suggests to me that their loyalty is to $$$, buyer be damned. Fact is, the truck is at the shop as of this writing for a whole new set of electrical issues. Purchase at your own risk!!! read more

Willie Clowser at Dave Smith Motors is my hero! My husband wanted a very specific used vehicle and, he was willing to wait until he found precisely what he wanted. We'd been looking all over the Pacific Northwest and, actually had the same model, year and mileage vehicles sold out from under us twice before we found Willie. Willie listened to my husband, asked clarifying questions and then began his search. Within a few weeks, Willie called to tell us he'd found "the one" for us. And, boy was he ever right! We found Willie to be knowledgeable, forthright, and honest. Our mechanic says this vehicle has been well cared for, and best of all, he literally found nothing - not one thing wrong! We'll definitely call on Willie for our next vehicle purchase! The only downside? Four hours to get us through the process - and we paid cash! In addition, the person who processed the actual sale, tried to up-sell us for a $3000+ warranty. That was a bit frustrating. In this regard, perhaps Dave Smith Motors is a bit regimented. On the other hand, with the number of vehicles they sell each day, they probably need to be! If you are in the market for a quality vehicle, give Willie Clowser at Dave Smith a call. read more

My husband and I have purchased both our vehicles from DSM. I had my 18 month old son in the vehicle with me and I was pregnant with my daughter when my headgasket blew in my Chrysler 300. I had my vehicle towed to service where they established a blown headgasket and many other significant issues that were found. Long story short, I decided to take the loss and look for something immediately. Bob Cameron and Stephanie Latina were ON IT. They sent me different options for an SUV and within 3 days I was signed and down the road in my brand new car. I was AMAZED at how quick and efficient everything went. Signing for it was short as well. I still adore my car. I have it serviced at DSM everytime I need it done, and they even send me detailed quotes on tires with specifics when I'm due for them. My husband bought his 2017 Ram in December of 2016 and it is everything he ever wanted. Long story short, we wont stop buying from DSM. Their sales teams are amazing and they really will go over every option you can think of before you sign on something. Everytime you walk in the door at the dealership, there is a friendly face greeting you. Our experiences were a great and I highly recommend it. read more

If you're looking for a new Ram, Roman is your guy. He was the first salesman we have ever had who had a personality while doing business. He told jokes while on the test drive. Roman made it very clear that he wanted to respect our time while we were at the dealership. He offered coffee from their espresso machine in the lobby. When he had to get paperwork signed, this man RAN AROUND! He made it happen! If he is eligible for a raise or a bonus he truly deserves it. His attention to detail was great. The online pricing he was very up front about any additional amount for registration. This man can even pair a flip phone to a vehicle via Bluetooth! The finance guy really knew his stuff. He sat there an answered all questions. The general manager and Romans boss stopped by and chatted for a while about places to eat near Kellog. They were both above and beyond kind. We are highly impressed and would like to come back the next time we need to upgrade! PLEASE ASK FOR ROMAN ON YOUR NEXT VISIT! He will even miss his baseball game to stay late and make things right when buying a Ram. Roman deserves more than a 5 star yelp review. He makes everyone feel like family. read more

Shout out to a top notch salesman, Anton Ferraro! I was in the market to purchase my first brand new vehicle and had no clue what I actually wanted. Anton spent time asking questions to identify what I was looking for and needing in a vehicle and he patiently worked with me as I test drove many different vehicles. I found one I loved but never thought I would ever be able to afford, a Cadillac SRX! Anton worked with me until we could make this a reality! The time and effort that Anton demonstrated was like none other I had experienced with dealerships in the past, I was treated like a person, not just a sale! After completing paper work with finance Anton was waiting for me with my new vehicle and set up my Bluetooth and accessories... which probably would have taken me hours to figure out. Since, my husband and I have purchased additional vehicles from Anton and have had more great experiences. We told Anton my husband needed a commuter car for work and let him know what we were looking for. Anton searched to find our car and called to have us come check it out and it was exactly what we were looking for! Thanks Anton for your stellar customer service!! read more

I purchased a new truck from Dave Smith Motors in 1997. This was when the Cummins engines were new and they only made 100,000 per year, so no dealerships could get them on the lot. I went through a broker who pulled over to wash the truck before delivering to me in Seattle. At that time Dodge was experimenting with 7-mil thick paint which is paper thin, and the broker may have scratched the paint when he washed it. Dave Smith Motors took care of me. I drove the truck back and they painted it again at no cost to me. I liked the experience so much I added a chrome package and step-sides. Put 100k miles on that truck and sold it for more than I paid for it. I'm now in the market for another truck, but frankly I'm getting sticker shock from the prices. $65,000 for a new Dodge truck??? WOW. WHAT WENT WRONG? My guess - after Dave Smith Motors was boycotted by other Dodge dealers in 1998, they jacked prices back up as part of the settlement, even though they won in court. Not sure I can recommend them based on the info I have at hand, but in 1997, they treated me like a King and that is worth 5-star props. read more

I'm a California resident, and I recently bought a 2021 RAM 1500, from Trace at Dave Smith Motors. Being from California I tried working with several DODGE dealerships from ALL OVER the state, and none of them were able to do what Trace and Dave Smtih Motots could do for me. Purchasing a vehicle from a salesman 1000 miles away whom you've never met, or not being able to test drive the truck you're purchasing can be somewhat of challenge. But I have to say that Trace made this experience one of the best experiences I have ever had purchasing a vehicle.. He did everything he said he was going to do, and the truck was everything Trace said it was. I am beyond happy with not only my beautiful truck, but more so the honesty, professionalism, and relationship building from Trace and the entire team I got to work with. Beginning with Dana in the website chat. to Trace, to Al with accessories, and ending with Joe in finance! It made the 30 hours drive in 47 hours every bit worth it!! Thank you again to Trace Fedele, and the entire Dave Smith Motors team, I look forward to seeing you all again when I'm ready to upgrade!' read more

just bought a 2500 ram truck from Dave Smith in Kellogg.......the absolute , hands down best car buying experience I've ever had. Lithia in spokane will never see me again....ever..... Reuben at dave smiths is outstanding, from him to the sales manager, to the finacing dept. they all were first rate........my wife and I were never pressured, and what ever it took to make us happy thats what they did. I can't recomend these people enough, doing business the way business should be done, charging an honest price,(less than anyone I've found) making an honest markup.......it's not a mistake to deal with them....and the free expresso was a plus :) the day we were to pick up our truck we drove 3 hours to get there, there was a glich in the service dept and it wouldn't be ready for 3-4 hours.....they told us to go home , they would deliver our truck when it was done. it's 6 hours round trip from where they are to where we live. . they filled up our tank and sent us on our way. and later in the day delivered our new ride.... I ask you seriously, what other car dealer on the planet would do this ? read more

My husband and I absolutely made the right choice to drive from Everett, WA. to Kellogg,ID. We had shopped locally and were disappointed in the used trucks and the asking price for them. Danielle Brimhall was fabulous as we emailed and texted over several days regarding what my husband and I wanted - a gently used Dodge Ram diesel truck for hauling a travel trailer or 5th wheel to be purchased in our near future. Danielle found a gorgeous white, fully loaded with a bed liner, canopy, and many other extras before it was even put on-line. We hesitated about going over to see it as we had just ran across some pretty good sounding deals locally; but we went. The entire day was without pressure, a lot of time was spent on test driving several times and education on how everything worked on the truck. Negotiation on price was very upfront, no hassles. When we discovered on the way home that one of the headlights was out, they refunded the price we paid for it. We would buy from them again. We highly recommend them! read more

I recently bought a new pickup truck from Dave Smith Motors in Kellogg Idaho. I pretty much closed the deal on the Phone with Jayleen Hall and Mark in accessories before traveling from Great Falls Montana to their dealership in Kellogg. I could not be more happy with the entire experience. Jayleen worked hard to get me the truck I wanted at the right price and Mark gave me the best advice for accessories and he had everything on the truck by the time I got there. All of this was done with big smiles and a professional manner. I was shown the ABC'S of my new trucks operational and safety features. My wife and I were impressed, it was a magical setting, buy the time the sun had gone down and we were on the road to pick up our new slide in truck camper just West of Kellogg. I give the folks at Dave Smith Motors five stars, I've dealt with many dealers in the past and I have to say, "thanks to the people at Dave Smith" you folks impressed me and that's not so easy to do.
