My boyfriend (at the time) and I did a couple's photoshoot with Dave a couple of years back. He's very artistic, has an amazing eye for unique shots, and lots of exciting ideas. We didn't want a boring, run-of-the-mill session. We wanted it to be creative and different. He sat us down to see what kinds of things we liked, so he could work with them. He has a funny/goofy personality that makes you feel right at home and comfortable, but can be serious when he needs to be. We felt so comfortable around him, that we had no problem relaxing and being ourselves...which led to lots of really great photos. We had a hard time picking which ones to blow-up and frame! I like that he still uses film (which HARDLY anyone does anymore!). The photos just get a different "feel" to them. I loved it. He also shoots digital as well. I've followed his portfolios on FB too, and have seen many of his wedding shoots, and am still so impressed. I thought he was amazing when he did our shoot, but his style and uniqueness has just exploded off the charts since I last worked with him. I will for sure be using him for my big day, whenever that may be. I will even FLY him somewhere if I have to! Since I'm in my mid-20's, lots of my friends are getting married, so I am constantly recommending him to friends in Spokane who are looking for a photographer. My two sister-in-laws and I are/were pregnant all at the same and within a month of each other. How often is there three pregnant women that close together in one family!?! Slim to none! Therefore my sister in law hired Dave to take a photo shoot of us three for a keepsake memory. We did meet him at a coffee shop before the photo shoot, and yes he is a talker...some people will love that, some maybe not, but that's life and doesn't reflect his skills. BUT I must say I am really glad he did that. Having the chance to socialize with him before the shoot helped us all feel more comfortable. He does not do typical studio portraits and in order to look natural in a natural/landscape setting, you need to be comfortable with your photographer. Another point I must add, is trust your photographer, they have the eye we don't. Dave brought up he wanted to take us to peaceful valley park in Spokane. I know that area and was thinking oh my gosh what is this guy talking about and I started to second guess my sisters choice, but even though I was super skeptical, I of course went. And what do you know; these photos blew my socks off. No one would ever be able to guess that was peaceful valley. We couldn't be happier with the pictures Dave took. We've never really had a true photographer take our pictures since our wedding, Having our third child recently prompted us to go ahead and take the plunge again. Dave is a friend of a friend and was highly recommended. We wanted highly creative, non staged type pictures and he delivered. He worked with us outdoors on a cold rainy day and nailed it. We were so happy we are going to have him take more pictures in the spring. Now you need to know Dave is an artist and he has a method as most artists do. Don't be surprised if he has you meet in a coffee shop to talk first. I think it was sort of a "get to know you" session. During this time he asked several questions trying to understand what we were looking for. He seemed deeply interested in our opinions. Dave is not a cameleon. He is who he is and you may or may not like it. He has a distinct style. He'll never ask your family to show up in blue jeans and white t shirts barefoot, he is much more original than that. I knew after being around Dave at another wedding that I wasn't going to have anyone else photograph my own wedding. From the get go Dave has been so accomodating and helpful! When I would think about wedding photos it stressed me out a little bit. I wanted something different and fun and yet traditional. Working with Dave and Jill far exceeded our expectations. Dave is an amazing photographer! After having a terrible experience elsewhere, my husband bought a photoshoot for me and my 9 month old for Mother's Day with Dave. Dave Ainley is great to work with, he offered to meet up before to go over the photo shoot so we all knew what to expect, had great pose ideas during the shoot & was quick to get us our prints afterwards.
