I came in with my son about 20 minutes before closing at 6pm. I figured I could see what I could and would leave before closing, no problem. I love thrifting, and I was happy to just browse and come back tomorrow. The women behind the counter immediately began complaining about how close it was to close and one said she was going to "lock the doors so nobody else could come in." I looked around a little bit when one of the women complained loudly how there was only a couple minutes left before checking out "or else we'll be here long after 6." When I looked her way and saw she was looking my way, I left. I've worked retail-I understand about wanting to leave as close after closing as you can. But I was a customer and it was 20 minutes to closing. This is a poor way to treat customers and reflects poorly on the store as a whole. I still feel the Lifeline is an amazing organization and I'll always support it, but not through the Thrift Store, either as a patron or a donor.

Booth after booth and case after case are loaded with treasures! It's obvious that some vendors take more pride in their booths than others. Some booths just look messy and others are very tidy and organized. I was REALLY excited to see a vintage Kmart cart and some old Walgreens hand baskets here. They're for shoppers use, not for buying. My guy was happy to get a plate of cookies from Luanna's Kitchen. ;) This was a very fun place to stop! Highly recommend!

Made three attempts to pick that refrigerator up all three I failed due to lack of staffing and management support, unable to get it to the doctors or the front doors.. finally, being disabled as the managers watch, I pushed it from the back of the store to the front of the store myself. Hours before I picked it up I had an assistant manager call me three times within 45 minutes, threatening and bullying me that if it wasn't picked up, I will be charged hourly additional fees and everything put back on the floor. I shop at the store all the time daily. With customer service like this They will be out of business before they could say Salvation Army. I would not recommend shopping at the store or any other Salvation Army. The prices are getting as high as new retail stores, if not higher, but they're selling his merchandise that was donated. I've never been treated so poorly or has such bad customer service in my life

The bad news: this Salvation Army appears to be quite picked over. Do head to the basement: it's significantly larger than the upstairs space and is where the clothing, children's items, and housewares live. The staff were friendly, and items were well-organized, so if you are in the neighborhood it's worth a quick look. Just be prepared that the professional pickers have probably already been through several times the day you visit.

Prices are vendor driven. So some are high, some are at market, and there are great deals to be found here too. As a veteran I appreciate the veteran's only parking spot near the front door. At only 55 I pass it up a lot because there are veterans in A LOT worse shape than I am. But I have used it a couple of times. It's so easy to spend hours here! Vendors leave and new vendors fill their slots. And with the merchandise being vendor provided...the selection is ever changing! The staff is fantastic and always available for questions or to open a case! The bathrooms aren't terrible for this environment. I was here because my Nephew was getting married next door at the Decades Event Center. I believe that both spaces were once a Dahl's Grocery Store. Since I was early and the pictures I was in were taken, I had some time to wander about. I love looking around antique stores and this place certainly had a lot of space and individual "consignment" booths. In situations like this, my eyes glaze over as I keep walking. In my head is Gayle saying - "Where are you going to put this crap?". In my heart is the preference of finding some unique peace that I can convince myself that I can't do without. I finally purchased a cool heavy metal Iowa-themed belt buckle for $15. That was after my go-to shopping targets of knives, pens, and old publications came up empty. I also find that I'm good for about 30 minutes in an antique store, and them I have to get out. If there's a next time, I'm sure inventory will be different, so who knows what might appear!

I was really excited to see a thrift shop, as I really do love thrift shops. HCI Giving Tree is not your typical thrift store. It is a small clean store, with really nice products. This isn't really the stuff I am looking for when I go thrifting, however all proceeds from store sales support hospice services provided to patients and families served by HCI Hospice Care Services. I did end up purchasing something small to help support the cause. However I don't know if I would regularly return for big deals. I hope they continue to do what they are doing for the cause they are doing it for. Very cool.
