3 weeks ago, I believed that I pulled my groin from working out and not stretching properly. I was in incredible pain. After seeing Ahmed at DASHA, he determined that it was actually a pulled hamstring. Because I am a type-1 diabetic and am more prone to bruising, he recommended that I take a more conservative approach to healing and gave me stretches to start rebuilding my muscles. Today I went back in for a follow-up and he performed the Graston technique on my leg to break down some of the scar tissue that had inevitably formed during the healing process. I didn't know much about this technique but he answered all of my questions extremely thoroughly. After the Graston, he gave me an incredible stretching. Following the DASHA providers' advice, I wanted to remain proactive so I got fitted for custom orthotics. I will be back at DASHA later this week to pick them up! Dasha is AMAZING!!! The staff is super friendly, knowledgeable, professional and caring. There is not one person there who doesn't treat a client well. I've been going to them for almost a year for chiropractic treatment and can't say enough nice things about them. Among my friends, I'm known for badgering people to go to them if they have any back pain, soreness etc. The facilities are super clean. After trying out Physical Therapy and Acupuncture practices throughout Manhattan, I have finally found my heaven! Dasha Wellness is a holistic health & wellness spa that caters to all of my needs - acupunture, chiropractic, physical therapy, and massage, and has gone above and beyond to provide excellent care. I began seeing Easter Li for acupuncture back in January and she has treated me for allergies, congestion, bloating, digestive distress, adrenal fatigue, immunity, and most recently, a shoulder injury. She has solid knowledge of Chinese Medicine and integrative health and she spends time with me to answer my questions and concerns. When I work with Lev for PT, he gives me the attention needed to make sure my posture and alignment is correct, and he listens, provides feedback, and researches my condition (when I came in there with a shoulder injury, a team of medical doctors performed nerve and muscle testing and looked at me to see where exactly the problem was to make sure my therapy would align with what I needed to heal.) Working with Lev, I have seen tremendous improvement in my range of motion and strength. He keeps positive and encouraging, and is a great trainer to work with. I never feel rushed when I am at Dasha. I actually have to watch the clock because I end up spending longer than my lunch break there when I come for PT & Acu! Dynamite, dynamite team of therapists and trainers. The receptionist, floor management, and staff are all warm and know me by name. I have tried many other chiropractic and physical therapy across the city. At one of those, a substitute doctor suggested I seek for a chiropractor using the graston method because he thought it would help my body as a whole. The doctor expressed concern that every muscle area was too tight and I needed to avoid anything but light yoga and Pilates to combat this coupled with graston chiropractic services. After doing searches, I found Dasha and scheduled a consultation. I was excited to learn they also did physical therapy as some of my current issues stemmed from an ankle break that required surgery 2 years prior. I have been going twice a week for a month now. A regular appointment goes like this: 1) Heat and stem electrotherapy in area of concern followed by massage of that area 2) chiropractic evaluation and treatment 3) physical therapy treatment It goes beyond my past experiences because Dasha treats your entire body and acknowledges how it is all connected. Also, they will do the deep stretches on site and assure you know how to do the 'regular ' ones at home. I come out of every appointment feeling better and also with the knowledge my current issue is being cared for at the same time they evaluate and care for my whole body. *Dasha does offer acupuncture, but my insurance will not cover it. Update May 2016: I continue to come at least once a month. PT is unlike any other as they focus on deep stretches you can not do yourself as well as focusing on pressure points. read more

I don't think I've ever been MORE pleasantly surprised with any medical/treatment experience. First of all, the receptionist is so pleasant and accommodating. When you get here you feel like you're going to a spa. My back was scanned so there was factual information supporting the areas of my back that needed the most attention. After that, I received the Heat/Stim followed by a massage to loosen my muscles. Literally, better than a spa because they actually massage with purpose. Dr. Pollack is SO personable and adjusted my back and neck. I've been coming here for a little over a year and wouldn't trust anyone else. read more

I first looked into DASHA about a year ago but went with another chiro instead because it was closer to work but man, do I truly regret that. I should have gone with my gut and went to DASHA a year ago and I would have started feeling better back then! Walking in to DASHA you could tell immediately that they really care about the wellness of their clients-- the space has a great environment and the staff are all very attentive and all remember your name which is a small, but a nice thing. At my first appointment I met with the massage therapist who scanned my posture, talked to me about any troublesome areas (for me shoulder/neck/back) she then set me up with stim and heat. The rooms are very clean and tranquil-- dim lights and relaxing music like your at a spa as opposed to a drs office-- a nice change from the multiple other chiros that I've been to in the past that have harsh light and are too sterile/cold. The massage therapist then gave me a massage to help with the pain I was having. I've been working with two different massage therapist and both are super friendly and make you feel comfortable. I then met Dr. Pollack I explained my past, chiro, years of Physical therapy, etc. He had a technician do an ultrasound of my shoulder and then explained what he found in the results. They also did a second test to check the nerves in my arms confirming the results from the ultrasound. During the appointments he gave me "cracking" adjustment that most people think of when seeing a chiropractor, but then focused in on the muscular pain by using different techniques.. pressure point with stretched and also graston (stainless steel tools that work the soft tissues/ scarring that can occur). The graston technique is a major reason why I switched over to Dr. Pollack --Not many people use the technique but I read that it has a lot of benefits so the fact that he used it made me feel confident that he could help my pain and hopefully in the near future resolve some of the pain that's causing me to be on migraine medicine. Hopefully I'll also have fewer flair ups where my orthopedist then has me take medicines to help with the pain. Being an athlete himself, Dr. Pollack knows how to relate to you and tries different techniques to cater to your pain at that moment. He's showed me stretches to do at home between appointments and gave me a cream to help with the pain (biofreeze) even spoke to my insurance to get me a personal tens machine so I can use it at work or home. It's only been 2-3 weeks but I can already tell the swelling on my shoulder is starting to go down. As you can see I really think a trip here is worth it. Not only are the techniques they use great, but his entire staff team is super friendly which is very refreshing for a medical office in NYC. Right now to help attack the pain, my treatment is starting aggressive with 3 appointments a week but they have been more than accommodating with scheduling my appointments quickly and at convenient times for me (open after work too which is super nice). A few of my coworkers are now checking it out to help with their pain from sitting at a desk. Highly recommend Dr. Pollack and his team! Can't wait to start feeling better so I can get back into cross training, golf and take some tumbling classes again! read more

I received physical therapy at Dasha for several months. Here's what I noticed: Swapping therapists - at first I was treated by two different PTs depending on when I came in, that seemed OK as they were both regulars, but one day they give me someone new who didn't bother reading my file first, doesn't even know which limb was injured, can't operate the electrical stimulation machine properly, and did many other things that made me lose confidence in the practitioner. When I complained I then got to see one of the regular PTs at each visit. Quality of physical therapy - that regular PT, after the first few visits, began acting more like a gym trainer and just walked me through exercises and skipped all hands-on work. I remember one day he was hectoring me about not being able to do one of the exercises and I had to yell at him that my limb wouldn't move the way he was asking due to stiffness. He then massaged the limb and helped that problem, but really that should have been part of the treatment every time I visited there, not just on "special occasions". Shady insurance practices / possible fraud - I didn't looked at the statements my insurance company sent for several months, but when I finally looked at them, I noticed that they repeatedly billed for treatments that hadn't taken place. For example, although I only got the electrical stimulation treatment for the first month or so, they billed the insurance company for it for months afterwards, for every time I visited, even after my regular PT suddenly disappeared and I was switched to a new PT who never used that machine on me. Positive stuff: I agree with other reviewers that the staff are friendly and the office has a nice atmosphere and the treatment rooms are clean and comfortable. The staff also told me I could stop by anytime they were open and use the gym equipment on my own without paying for a visit. But that's not enough to make up for spotty medical expertise, what appears to be high turnover in their physical therapists, and possible insurance fraud. I've been receiving chiro, PT, and acupuncture. I believe they have some other services as well, I just can't remember them right now. Anyways, it's really helpful having all of these services in one place. Staff is very kind and genuinely interested in my recovery. They're also very knowledgeable and current with the latest techniques, philosophies, and practices in their respective fields. So far, I've learned a lot and I'm slowly getting better. My schedule is really difficult to coordinate seeing all different specialists with so the fact that I could do everything in one place was incredible. I strongly recommend against doing any business with them. In short, they are disreputable and I have cause to believe that they are attempting do defraud insurers. In any case, they were recommended to me via word of mouth, especially since they seemed to cater to my employer. I immediately knew that something wasn't on the level for two reasons. First, upon determining that I had what was considered to be a very good medical insurance plan, they set me up to have all kinds of unrelated services. For example, I came in with what was later determined to be a tricep strain. In response to that very specific and localized issue, I had a chiropractor come in and do a neck adjustment. I had someone come in and do acupuncture all over my back and neck. And on and on. They tried to convince me that I needed other services, in part, because as they claimed, it was all covered by my insurer! It was clearly set up to charge the insurer as much as possible. That leads me to the second red flag. This is the first and only proprietor to bill me net the copay that I would eventually receive from the insurer with the requirement that I would then need to walk over my copay checks to them when I received it in the mail. Its unusual and inconvenient, if not suspicious. And that leads me to the grand finale. Fast forward 14 months to January, 2017. I receive an email from their billing department asking me to determine if they've cashed the checks I submitted to them back in November, 2015. I wish I was joking or fabricating any of this. This all happened and this is how they conduct business. Stay away. read more

Terrible! I agree that Dasha is a Scam, i booked a session for my husband, and his back pain didn't get better after 4 visits in a month. Oh yes, they will try to ask you to come back every 3 days, and charge you $500 - $1,000 per session. And they will always try to convince you to book another appointment, but whatever problem you have, you will still have it after each visit. read more

I SERIOUSLY CHALLENGE YOU TO FIND A BETTER PLACE. It's rare to have a place so relaxed & friendly (literally feels like a SPA) but simultaneously be helped by highly skilled doctors, trainers, & therapists! I'd all but given up hope (been living with pain for 10+ years & resigned to "that's how it's gonna be". But Dasha's proactive/preventative/holistic approach changed that so fast! They treat you on a very personalized basis. I personally went from being a person who literally couldn't sneeze feeling I was going to throw my back out - to being able to nail a combined, highly intense TRX/boxing/kettlebell class today! Dasha works with you from all avenues as a combined treatment plan: - CHIRO -- (Except Dr. Pollock & Dr. Mike have really amazing techniques and work on you through a myriad of ways - Graston, massage, focus on stress/trigger points, re-alignment. Trust me, people, I'm SUCH an advocate now! - PT -- They'll work you through techniques you probably would guess AS WELL AS technique that's not common to PT, like working on TRX, body blades, sandbags, etc. Original sessions & amazing! - MASSAGE THERAPY -- insurance is starting to consider this a "medical necessity", thank GOD! And Marina & Carlos are brilliant. I feel like I go through withdrawal the days they don't work on me!! - PILATES & PERSONAL TRAINING - SO worthwhile to go to Joe (trainer) & Georgette (pilates). I came to DASHA in need of help due to an unexpected injury, not realizing that it was one of the smartest and best things i could have done for my back and body. I have been coming here for just about 2 years. The staff here are great and they always make you feel "at home". I go for physical therapy and chiropractic services. Rob and Joe are great to work with. For chiro Dr. Pollack makes my back adjustments sound like music to my ears. The use of heat and stim is also a plus for sore muscles, combine that with their massage therapists (Marinas' awesome) and you'll be floating instead of walking out of there! It's always a great experience coming here. DASHA is a modern, pretty and clean center. The whole wellness approach is so nice and relaxing. It is refreshing to not have to be hopped up on pain meds like some doctors offices do. If you want a better alternative to a pill, or just looking for good chiropractic help, this place is good for you. read more

Pros - the staff is super nice and professional, location is convenient, and they are quick. Easy to book appointments and e Cons - maybe they are too quick - the appointment can feel rushed. You spend about 10 minutes laying down in the silence hearing appointments from the rooms next to yours (no music the first time and Pandora ads the next time) with those little stickers on your back. 10-15 minutes of the therapist doing a bit work on you and that's it. Then they tell you to book another appt. So I'm not sure you get a huge of bang for your buck. read more

I was in Manhattan for a long weekend and threw my back out. It was extremely difficult to walk around the city, let alone walk. DASHA Flagship office got me in for an emergency treatment and saved my weekend. From the very beginning (talking to the receptionist) to every step of the treatment (which included acupuncture), the attitude/professionalism/care exceeded all my expectations. Don't go there if you care about your health and your money. I came to see Dr. Darren Pollack in September with a little bit of pain in my back. Without knowing and having a diagnosis ( I was hoping for at least X-Ray) , he performed manual adjustment that caused me the injury of my neck. I was in severe pain for 3 weeks after and now I still have to go to the Rehab in Cornell Hospital for the physical therapy + taking meds every day for 1 month. But it is not the end f the story, few weeks later I received a letter from my insurance saying that I visited the Doctor out of the network . And this 1 chiropractor 's session for 30 min cost something around $4000. Basically, at the chiropractor's office they say you are In the network and everything covered. They are just lying and after lying to the insurance that I saw a different Doctor to get even more money!!! That's the worst experience in NY that caused me injury and gave me so much of a headache to fight with them and my insurance!! Absolute scam. read more

I decided to try this place after reading several reviews. I needed minor chiro adjustments and massage therapy. I went 2x and that was it - no more. The first time, I filled out tons of paperwork and then proceeded to wait for over 45 min. in their waiting room. I was finally taken back to the chiro room and waited another 20 min. until the massage therapist came in. That part was ok...however, once Dr. Pollack came in, he only provided a very minor adjustment and barely took any interest in my situation and what I needed fixed. He then proceeded to find out how his company can provide seminars at my company - very unprofessional. What should have been a quick 30 min. appointment turned into a 2 hour waste of time. I did return for a 2nd visit - I had requested chiro adjustments and massage therapy again. Not only did I have to wait again, but the only "treatment" they provided was to put me on a bed with a heating pad and then we did some minor stretching exercises. I never even saw the dr. I could have saved myself the hour and done this at home. The absolute worst part was when the insurance bill came - not only did they bill my insurance company for an extra visit that I didn't have, but they billed for services they didn't provide. They are SHADY and there's something really wrong with this practice!! read more

My husband and I have gone for treatments in the past and were quite happy. Having not been for years, my husband went back this past month. Before booking appt. we gave all our insurance information; told we were covered. First appt. he was told needed adjustment, physical therapy and nerve test. Month later we receive notice from insurance company we are responsible for $5,792. He was given services out of network, without being informed. After speaking with their acct. dept. they stated we will not receive a bill for that amount, he signed a form which states we only pay $10 add'l services. Regardless, they are not operating with transparency. Additionally, he went for his therapy, got his adjustment (he didn't need) then told therapist had quit. This company just don't pass the smell test. Very disappointed! read more

I didn't have any issues with Dr. Ryan. I had a very basic consultation with him and he adjusted my back with no problems. However, the thing I had an issue with was the staff who submitted a claim to my insurance. After confirming with them three times that Dr. Ryan was in-network for my insurance, I got a claim saying that I owed almost a thousand dollars for services I never even did. I immediately called the insurance to figure out the problem and found out that the office had submitted the claim under Dr. Pollock who was out of network for me rather than Dr. Ryan. After calling Dasha and requesting that this be changed, I have still not received the updated claim (it's been over a month). As other reviewers said, their accounting is just shady and they are not upfront with the services charged. I didn't agree to having a credit card on file with them, and for that I am definitely very glad that I didn't. read more

Absolutely Wonderful Experience! I had recently been to another physical therapist for herniated disc and a pinched nerve with only a little relief. My insurance covered both chiropractic and physical therapy and I have had NIGHT & DAY changes after coming to DASHA. I personally did not expect the treatments to work as well as they did but I guess I am one of the lucky ones. After 2 treatments I noticed a BIG difference, for 4 years I have had increasing neck pain and immobility. After my 2nd session I realized that I was able to turn my head without pain. In all honesty it made me so happy I cried because I have had such chronic pain for the last few years. I am only 1 month into treatments but so far I couldn't be happier. They take the time to figure out where your issues are on that particular day and work with your problems. In addition, it is a beautiful office and all of the staff are helpful and professional. These guys are great! I used to go here a couple of years ago for knee pain, and I returned to them recently when I started experiencing lower back issues. Their comprehensive approach is helping me get back on my feet. All of the staff member are very knowledgable and friendly, patient in answering all of my many questions, and they are so accommodating with appointment times, which is critical for a momma like me who has limited time. Never been to a chiro before -- and even though I had to wait at least 40 mins to be seen -- they were SO accommodating and took me through a range of diagnostic and massage treatmeants. Just getting my posture checked out along with a lot of tension/stress in my upper back that kind of affects it every day so hopefully they will be able to help.
