I didn't even need a lawyer, hindsight, but wanted to retain one for the peace of mind and support. Judy was more then twenty minutes late for our first court date, and sent another lady to my second court date whom was also more then twenty minutes late. I wasn't informed she was sending someone else, let alone someone I had never met or spoken to who thought I was a college student and knew nothing about my case. She only sent me one letter alerting me of a date but nothing for the other court dates or court requirements, leading me to miss a required class. She didn't respond to me leading up to my final court date, and I was texting her all morning to make sure she was going to show up. When my sentencing was only fines, no probation, she said I was her star client... I wasn't given probation because I filled out a pages long evaluation and was deemed recovered, it had absolutely nothing to do with her representing me. All in all it was a terrible experience that I still think about six years later. Moral of the story, pay for a good lawyer, or don't pay at all because you get what you pay for and I got squat.
