I can only highly recommend this restaurant there isn't anything on the menu that I tried and didn't like. During the hot summer months (yes they do have these in Germany believe it or not) there are plenty of shaded seats available. They just got brand new tables and chairs on the outside and new shades so it provides ample space away from the hot sun! They have yummy ice cream or plenty of cold drinks and beer! they have plenty of parking on site or on the streets you will always find a spot. Their dishes consist of yummy salads, variety of Noodle Dishes, Schnitzel and also some "American food" such as Hamburgers and Cheeseburgers that are all pretty darn good. The staff is super friendly and always comes in a timely manner to ask if you want refills for your drink. My all time favorite is the Pizza they serve. Crust always baked to perfection. I love mine with a baked egg on top of it. If you go there tell Stefan I say hello. Some of the outside pictures currently posted on yelp are dated since he did a major renovation on the outside seating area.

4 Stars for a restaurant found inside a castle? Well, ya!…read more Ok, I'll admit, I only had a glass of wine and cake which were both great. But, the view is the real star of the restaurant. In summer, get a table on the outside terrace for beautiful views of the valley (including a power plant of some kind in the distance). The immediate area includes wineries and the hillsides are covered with grape vines. The day we were visited there was a glider flying (gliding?) above us. I think the pilot may have had a few too many of the local Rieslings because he headed right for us on a number of occasions but it made for an entertaining day! Food and drink are reasonably priced for having such a captive audience (in America they'd price gauge). Same prices as other restaurants in the area. E 3.60 for wine, 2.00 for mineral water, 5.70 for Apfelstrudel mit Eis (that's apple strudel with ice cream - I mean really, if you can't get that, you better leave Germany. Quick). The E 5.70 Schwarzwaldbecher (black forest sundae) was AWESOME! The deal of the day was the E 2.10 Blechkuchen which literally translates to 'sheet metal cake' but somehow that just doesn't do it justice. It was a delicious, moist, creamy, slightly cheesy but not quite cheese-cake, cake. If you're up for it, its worth parking the car at the very bottom parking lot and taking the walk up to the castle. Its about 30-45 minute walk, up hill most of the way on a paved road until the very end where it is a dirt road. If you're not 'up for it', drive as far as you can, up the mountain, to the parking lots at the foot of the castle. You'll still have to haul yourself up a small hill but if you didn't have as many pints as I did the night before, you'll make it just fine (I had to stop a few times). The restaurant is only open on weekends starting in Nov (through April, I think). The castle is open every day.

Now this is what I call a Schloss! :)…read more The place is worth a visit just to have a wander round, there's another review on Qype for this, but if you need refreshment, you won't be disappointed. They serve food in the restored part of the castle and you can sit out on their balcony with a wonderful view of the forest and surrounding area. Or sit inside and worry about all the sharp weapons. They have the heaviest menu I've ever seen (it's made of wood). Children are welcome and they are given place mats of knights and horses etc to colour in. (Why do they always have all the fun?) The food is wholesome and hearty, typical German fair, from meaty soups to my favourite, Apfrelstrudel. If you are here in the winter, the hot chocolate is yummy! Especially if you had to push your bike up the hill (a long story). I've knocked a point off because it's not open all year round (check their website for the opening times)
