The vibe of the studio was very clean and very quiet. All the artists use really quiet tattoo machines so you don't have the constant buzzing throughout your appointment. This was the most comfortable I've ever felt in a tattoo shop. Between the people, the cleanliness and the overall vibe, I would happily travel back (I live out of state) to get more work done here.

Sometimes inspiration comes, and you just run with it. So I scoured the web for possible shops to get some work done and I eventually found Gypsy Rose. I was a little wary because I had found the shop on the internet, rather than being referred to by word of mouth after meeting someone with work done by an artist. But James Ann was great. In addition to the piece of art she gave me, she also taught me the difference between real artists and guys just tattooing out of their basement. The two are extremes that should not be compared. Also, as proof of James Ann's awesomeness I have transcribed the following conversation I had with a random run-in in South Dakota. Me: Whoa, those are some pretty dope tattoos! Do you mind if I touch? (I don't know why but I really like touching other people's tattoos). Lady Barber: Thanks and no, I don't mind at all! Me: I'm actually planning on getting a tattoo while passing through South Dakota. Lady Barber: Oh, yeah? Which Shop? Me: Gypsy Rose. Have you heard of it? Lady Barber: Heard of it? I go there! FKN, UNSANITARY!!!! oh speaking if UNSANITARY, she did not sanitize the seat nor leg area that my tatt was being on. So customer service is a " 1". Next, wearing a long skirt with my leg between her legs was in an awkward position meaning tattooing on partial and impartial flexing. MOTHER-FR! Stop weari g skirts. Oh, before she did the tatt she needed a smoke break, WTF???? I gave $100 cash deposit 1 week ago. I asked her how much before she started. " I can only pay $200 tops". After printing, and whatever, she comes back with 2 sizes of print. I wanted the smaller one. She used the bigger one. Which FKN, tells me she is NOT LISTENING to her client AT ALL. Like WTF ???? Look, lady artist, I'm not walking in to be besties!!!! It's a job and if ya do not like people get out of the profession. The tattoo was a 1 hour tattoo job. Turned into 2 1/2 for her bullshit!!!! Then get this, she counted my $100 cash I gave her and was trying to charge me an EXTRA$100.00 WHEN ON CHECK OUT. However, when I went in for a consultation I was told that it wouldn't fade AND the bricks were too small to add names AND the artist who did it had been fired. My…read morefriend who lives in town had seen our artist before and was able to get us an appointment with her. Andy took amazing care of us. She knew what we wanted from exchanging emails with my friend but I also sprung a second piece on her which she was able to design very quickly. The shop is immaculate. Lots of cool decor at each artists station. Just a very cozy and welcoming vibe. Everyone seems like they enjoy working with each other so it's got happy family vibes. Also, it's the quietest shop I've been to because of the equipment each artist uses making it easier to have conversations instead of needing to yell over buzzing instruments. When placing my new pieces, I had Andy adjust the location of one which she was happy to do. I hadn't felt comfortable speaking up in the past but Andy wants you to love your piece and made us feel empowered to say something so everything was just right. I appreciated that a lot because some places and artists can be very intimidating. Andy's station was spotless. She sanitized between my friend and I sitting in her chair and was very thorough. Also, the projects she used on our pieces made for quick healing -- that could also have to do with the types of tattoos we got -- but I'm happy to see that now, two days later, my tattoos are healing well and I think that's in large part to Andy. I would 100% fly back here to see Andy for larger pieces. She made the experience so collaborative and enjoyable.

The family type environment and the layed back feel of Addictive Ink makes me feel at home. As for the message from Anthony S. regarding "the owners behavior" and the use of vulgar language" He apparently doesn't know Curtis very well nor has he been in the shop. I have been a frequent client and can honestly say im at the shop nearly every day. i have never seen Anthony S. step foot in the shop nor have I heard Curtis behave in a less than professional manner or direct any kind of vulgar comments to any potential client.
