The wedding took place in multiple rooms, one for the ceremony, one for the cocktail hour and one for the dinner. Like many catered events like this, the highlight was the cocktail hour with both stations and passed around hors d'oeuvres. One dish was more delicious than the next. Dinner was average, nothing to write home about. Dessert was another batch of passed around, decadent bites. All in all, a wonderful evening (and the snow had stopped by the time the event was over and we got home without incident).

My wedding was perfect in many ways but leading up to it I must warn that they are not accommodating when it comes to times that you can get in to see the space, only on certain nights and at or after 8pm. I was also disappointed on the day of my wedding they held Zumba and a Touch a Truck event which made me feel that they did not care about my event that I was paying for. Their Liaison was particularly difficult to work with and when I tried to talk to someone else that was involved with the Church she called me and said she found it "Hilarious" that I tried to complain about her... not very professional. They also require someone to be at the stone house during the event which is more than fine, but the man was wearing a tank top and ripped jeans... So that also stood out to my guests. Overall, my wedding was wonderful but I feel that It was that way because of the friends and family that helped me and not so much their staff.

Our wedding was supposed to be one of the happiest and most memorable days of our lives, but it was overshadowed by confusion, frustration, disappointment, and repeated issues with communication and execution. The irony is that Reid Castle itself is beautiful. The venue provided the stunning backdrop we envisioned, and that is what initially made us fall in love with it. Our disappointment was primarily with the coordination and execution of the services we were promised. We paid for a level of coordination and support that we ultimately did not feel we received. Our bridal party spent much of the day and evening doing work that we believe should have been handled by the venue's coordination team. We also experienced issues with setup, communication, staffing, our personal belongings, and follow-through. We genuinely understand that unexpected circumstances can happen, including family emergencies and vendor mistakes. Our concern is that there did not appear to be an adequate backup plan or communication system in place to ensure that those circumstances did not negatively affect our wedding. Ultimately, we feel that we were shortchanged on the coordination services we paid for, and we believe a partial refund would have been appropriate given the number of responsibilities that fell on our bridal party instead of the venue's team.

Nikki, Charlotte, and their team flawlessly planned and executed our 100+ person wedding in Connecticut and transformed our backyard and home into a beautiful, professional venue. During the planning process, our coordinators maintained transparent communication with us and were extremely responsive to our ongoing questions, concerns, and changes. They helped organize with our other vendors (DJ, photographer, etc.), and provided meaningful advice and guidelines every step of the way - from selecting our menu to choosing venue décor and even providing advice as to how to word our invitations. On the day of our wedding, those same coordinators ensured that the event proceeded smoothly, monitoring the timeline, flow, and jumping in where needed. For example: when we arrived home from the ceremony, we were immediately met by Nikki's staff who had specifically prepared appetizers and drinks for the wedding party to enjoy (and to replenish!) before making our big introduction to the rest of the wedding guests. Many of our guests raved about the food being among the best they have had at a wedding. This is by far where Nikki Glekas Events stands head and shoulders above other event planners / caterers - her food is simply excellent. To successfully plate 100+ meals outside in Connecticut during October, to keep them HOT, and to maintain quality is no small feat. Nikki's team executed this with ease. We were so thrilled with the process and outcome for our wedding that we hired Nikki's team for our baby shower - which once again was an absolute home run. To Nikki, Charlotte, and the entire staff at NGE, thank you so very much for your tireless work and your impeccable attention to detail. We look forward to working with you again for our future celebrations.

I attended an event here. An event consequential to my good friend--who was the host...working two…read morejobs and putting aside money every week for 12 years. In my opinion, this place blew it. They really blew it. I would never trust them to host an event for me. Not a communion--nada...nunca. In short, Apawamis rhymes with can't-stand-us-- that's all you need to know. That's how I felt. In my opinion: They. Just. Didn't. Care. They screwed up every aspect of this occasion. Let's start with the facility and logistics. The attendee tables were much too close together. The food stations were too near the tables. Also, the stations were not professionally set up and assembled in a haphazard and happenstance sloppy way. No decorations or signage so you had to guess what you were gulleting [sic].Honestly, I've done better with home kid's birthday party spreads. I felt bad for my friend. The roof sprung a leak and it was actually raining on the party and it's guests!!! I had to go track someone down since my buddy who threw the party was busy looking for someone to turnover the tables and remove the salad plates and fill water glasses. Poor guy couldn't enjoy the event. The facility party supervisor was no where to be found for most of the party. My friend told me their name and I went on a hunt to tell her the tables needed to be turned over and the serving stations attended to...and I was told they were busy attending to another party in the facility. Literally, my friends party-- to me-- was like a driverless car careening out of control. The timing of happy hour, salads, table bread, dinner and dessert was--in my opinion, at best--haphazard and seemingly left to rank and file staff that were way too few in number. It was a pernicious kerfuffle. Those that were there worked super hard and with tons of heart functioning sans a leader most of the night. They were heros. The facility and the manager of the event were not heros--from my vantage point, they were the opposite. The food I tried was average to poor. The beef and brócoli was rubbery/tough and soggy respectively...and disappointingly bland. Yucky. The steak station had creamed spinach and hash browns that--in my case--were milky/cold and greasy/cool respectively. The steak--at least what I tried--supermarket quality, dry, tough and tasteless. Why would they serve me shoe-leather tough well done meat? My friend (the host) tried some off my plate and clandestinely expectorated it into a napkin. My friend was so upset but said to me that he had nobody to complain to since the facility host was nowhere to be found and that, given it was mid party--there was nothing they could do anyhow. The Italian station--in my case--had pasta that was undercooked and the chicken parm was not right. The chicken--at least in my case--was not pounded, too thick, and the breading poorly adherent to it. There was too little sauce that was under spiced. It was beyond rescue--no matter how much parmigiana cheese, salt and pepper that I haplessly and generously applied. It was a sophomoric mishmash. The tiered dessert assortment plates were almost ok. Some pieces were cold and all tasted like they came from a Costco variety pack. Nothing special. In my opinion, this was bad, really bad experience for the guests that numbered well over a hundred. I have my suspicions as to why this country club handled this specific sort of event the way they did, but I'll keep it to myself. Suffice it to say--if you don't want to handle these sorts of events in a professional manner--then don't accept the job. Shame on you Apawamis (you-can't-stand-us).
