My roots, however, were getting long, my highlights were growing out and my ends were a bit frayed/losing shape on the layers and I felt like I needed a change/lift during winter. I wanted something brighter OR something that would be easier to maintain- I was definitely open to either one but SUPER nervous about trying someone new, especially being outside the NYC metro area where great quality salons are on each corner, basically. I took that for granted, by the way, I now realize!!!!!!! Before I tell you about the amazing colorist I was with, I have to tell you that they carry an awesome line of products just like Joseph Christopher or any other 5 star salon in Manhattan or Long Beach. They also had super cute earrings (yes I bought two pair of costume earrings and an adorable hand-made bracelet AND a pack of hand-made greeting cards - made with stamps/scrap-booking stuff....one of a kind, super cute thank-you cards and thinking of you cards for friends back in NY).......it's just a super cute selection and adorable little salon. I walk in and smiles are all around......everyone is welcoming. I sit down for a talk/consult with Scout, who I found through a girl with adorable blond hair that I met at the local CVS......LOL......that was all I needed- to see someone with good, blond hair and knew I could trust her colorist/stylist......I was in...... Scout took her time to hear what I've done in the past and liked, what I have had done and didn't love, my favorite and least favorite things about my hair and style.......we covered all bases. Scout took her time while working on my hair and made me feel comfortable and welcome...she was very detail oriented and consulted with other colorists to confirm she was making the right decision with the products she was using and methods would give the desired result. I ended up with a full head of foils and she PERFECTLY blended my natural, beautiful, beige blond hair in a sleek, smooth style.....OH she put a toner on to blend everything together (and we were SO THRILLED with the results that Renee, the owner, and Scout (my colorist and cutter) took pictures of my hair as an example photo for those seeking a perfect blonde shade :) I'm thankful that G-d blessed me with this hair and SOOOOO THANKFUL to have Scout and Renee's Salon to maintain this head of hair LOL....... I asked for a refund and they offered to have me come in and get it fixed. That seems like a really uncomfortable experience so I preferred a refund and would go elsewhere to get my hair fixed. I had 3 different email chains with various salon workers until Jean Tretheway got a hold of me. She proceeded to scream at me over the phone about how it was rude to get a refund because someone spent time on my hair already. (um...WHAT?!?) she also told me that my hair would grow back and then she screamed that I was not a good fit for the salon when I had frequented for years to have Hannah color my hair (Hannah was the best and did not do this haircut). Avoid Shear Design at all costs. A word of advise to the owner, Jean - the managing director of the salon - should probably be put through SEVERAL customer service trainings. She was easy to talk to and truly listened to me. Together, we came up with a plan for my hair. I valued her input as she explained each step of her process. Sometimes, hairdressers can be jarringly rough with shampooing but Ava made sure the water temp was comfortable and massaged my head with just the right amount of pressure. The hot towel treatment after was heavenly. I'm happy to say my curls are back and well defined, unlike my last hair experience, where the hairdresser blew my hair out straight despite me sharing a photo of a curly hair style. After my hairstyling, I purchased small quantities of the products used. I've started using them and I'm very pleased. Salon Fig is not inexpensive, but I will definitely return.
