Visiting my daughter and son in law at the base. My husband and I love donuts and this was what we found. They were so busy Saturday and sold out having to make more, so we got a churro. It was yummy. Came back Wednesday to actually try the croissants. Man I'm glad we did. They were delicious. A first timer! My sister raved about this place so I had to go during a recent visit for the holidays. The lady that took my order was not extremely friendly and actually talked over me while I was trying to place my order. When I asked what is your most popular, her response was, they all are. She was less than helpful, however, the lady that brought my order out was extremely friendly and offered to identify which flavors I had ordered. She even confirmed that my order was correct. The air conditioning was definitely not working properly. Even the ice cream in the ice cream machine didn't have ice surrounding the inner area. Decor.... it's very farmhouse style friendly and very clean. Now for the croissants.... they are compared to that of cheddars but with filling. Nice and fluffy. Not at all greasy nor flat. I went in not knowing what was being sold but was happily surprised. They have flavored or should I say stuffed flavored croissants! I love to sho local and this place did not disappoint. I got key lime filling and maple bacon and lord have mercy it was heavenly! I highly recommend giving it a try because once you try it you'll be back for more. They'd make great party desserts . This was a wonderful surprise. I'm only sad we discovered Darel's the final weekend we were living in Jacksonville. When we arrived Darel's was busy but efficient. The person that took our order was patient with us as we did not know what to order and she even gave us suggestions. The bakery seating area was clean and nicely decorated (they even had an old school pac man machine that was kid size). When you walk up to the counter they have a display case of the selections of croissants available and let me tell you they were AMAZING. I'll start with the good. They have many croissants! We only had two but the two we had were soooo good! If you are into croissants I highly recommend ordering some. I wish we had gotten more of those. Where they lost two stars was the inside of the place looked dreary, the girl at the front was neither friendly/nor rude, and the yellow outside is too much. The second star was for the macarons. Even though they are so bright, and pleasing to the eye. They were not good at all. They tasted like they were manufactured and not made fresh. Long overdue...August 2019 my son and I visit home. Yes, J'ville still home to us both. We stayed at a hotel off McDaniel and they told us about this place. These pastries are so good 1.5 years later I am finally giving this business proper credit. Also, they have or had a pac man machine upon returning to Huntington Beach I ordered one for my shop too.
