Came to this small cosy place for breakfast which open at 9am. They had a menu for breakfast. I ordered a Mee Rebus while my mom ordered Mee Siam. My food took about 15 minutes to come. Not sure if I'm too used to Mee Rebus served to me under 5 minutes in Singapore/Malaysia.
When my food came, it was quite a big bowl. It has the usual suspects; bean sprouts, hard boiled egg, lime (I think it was lemon lime) etc. As for the gravy, it has the similar sweet curry flavour but blander. I assume it is to accommodate local tastebud.
Then the Mee Siam only came when I was 3/4 done with mine. Ingredient wise, essentials are not left out. Gravy wise, blander also and it tasted nothing similar to the original. Not sour or spicy. It wasn't unpleasant, more like a total different dish.
The Mee Rebus was pretty okay, enough to curb the cravings for something close to Singapore. But the Mee Siam is a miss. Both can be more generous with the spices. read more
