Beverly doesn't ever answer her phone or return phone calls. The first time I tried to make an appointment I left a message and heard back over a week later. I guess this should have been the first sign but she seemed knowledgable about grooming so I booked an appointment. On my way to her house for the first appointment I got lost driving because all I saw was a mailbox with her address and no house or no driveway. I called several times while lost circling her neighborhood and still got no answer. Finally decided to "off road" over grass and dirt and tree limbs to finally find a house back there. She did do a nice job with my pet so I booked again. (That is the actual way to get to her house so I wouldn't recommend unless you have an SUV or truck). The next time I took my pet she looked good but during the car ride home my dog was shaking her head and had it cocked to one side. I called Beverly right away but no answer and I left a message. I called her the next day to ask what do to but no reply. She called me back 3-4 days later, which by this time I had to seek the opinion of a professional. There was cleaning solution still in my dog's ear that was bugging her. I continued to make appointments because I liked how my dog looked. Recently I had to reschedule an appointment. I left her 3-4 messages prior to the appointment. I didn't hear back from her and the appointment had passed. I finally get a call 5 days after the appointment where she was rude and mad about me missing my appointment. I told her that I left several messages, to which she admitted never listening to, and she continued to be rude and said if she has to rebook a dog it's not worth her time. I'm very frustrated with my experience, and I'm looking for a new dog groomer. If anyone has recommends please message me! read more

History

Established in 1987.

In February 1987 I attended The Florida School of Dog Grooming. After a 3 months course covering all breed dog grooming I returned to Tallahassee After working for several vets, I opened Dapper Dogs Grooming Studio in October of 1987 and have been working ever since. After 13 years on South Monroe St. road expansion forced me to relocate. After a couple of tries, I finally discovered the beauty of working from home. Since then, I've had many happy customers through my door. Some live on the east side as I do. Many drive the few miles out in the country for the special care and excellent haircuts I give.

Meet the Business Owner: Beverly G.

My name is Beverly Graddy. I've lived in Tallahassee since 1965. My husband is Rick Graddy and we've been married since 1985. We have one son. My father-in-law suggested I learn to groom dogs because he felt my love of dogs made it a good choice. Boy was he right! Although grooming is hard work and can be challenging, I do love it. My goal is to make each dog look it's best and send them home happy. Some dogs love a groom, some don't; my goal is still the same.

The best part for me is they have a groomer there so while Mick (my dog) gets to play, he also gets groomed right before he gets home. When I picked him up a few hours later, he looked like he'd just come out of surgery because most of the fur was shaved off around his neck! Just a couple of snips with scissors and combing it out is all that is needed, and what I usually do. They also shaved halfway up his two back legs! PAW. PAD. FUR. Guess where that fur is. There are chunks of fur missing on his body that I can't even comprehend the purpose of. $105 for the removal and what they called a groom. Don't. That's my best advice.

Beverly does a fantastic job with my dog Tosh! She cares more about the well-being of the dogs than any other groomer I have been to in Tallahassee (and believe me, I was running out of options when thankfully I discovered her). Beverly cares about how the dog is feeling and she has a great bond with my pup, and I've seen her with many other dogs and she has a great energy - dogs really love her. Like some of the other reviews on here, my dog is also always very excited to go to Beverly's and, most importantly, he is his same happy self when he returns home - no weird "I hate this haircut" or "Why is my butt shaved???" behavior. Tosh has acted unhappy and uncomfortable with every other groomer that I went to - except Beverly. Everyone always raves about how adorable my dog is when he comes back from Beverly's! I've been taking Tosh to her every 6-7 weeks for the past 6 months or so and never had a negative experience. Not to mention - she's the least expensive groomer I've been to in Tallahassee as well. Highly recommended by close friends, Beverly at Dapper Dogs (love the catchy name), lived up to all my expectations for a professional dog groomer!! She is knowledgeable, talented, skilled & gentle & caring while grooming your dog. Without question Beverly is the best groomer on the planet!! I say that without hesitation after trying at least a dozen groomers over the years in the Tallahassee area. I am very picky and treat my two bichapoos like toddlers in puppy suits, so I was very nervous about handing my "boys" over to Beverly the first time. They came home perfectly groomed and happy. The absolute best experience with a dog groomer I have ever had. Besides the dog ending up looking great, the atmosphere at the grooming studio was perfect. I never thought I or the dog was part of an assembly line. Beverly Graddy was so nice and made every effort to accommodate us. The setting of the grooming studio is rather country and the dogs can jump out of the car - both dogs rushed to the door of the studio. I will never take my dogs any place else. read more

Beverly has groomed my dogs since the 1980s. She is careful, kind to both dog and owners & makes every effort to accommodate needs of both. You can drop off or stay & visit while your dog gets the full Beverly! She always does a first rate job (I have a min. schnauzer), even when I have done a bit of DIY grooming on him between visits. I have a 9 year old Golden Retriever with a ton of fur and she has never been to a groomer until Beverly. She recently got clipped for her "summer cut" and I was very happy with it.
