Dappa is so cool. I've been here a few times for a cut, and I've always been so happy with the result! In the heart of uber-cool Camden, Dappa really is oustanding hairdressing, with hospitable and talented staff, great surroundings and a lovely, warm vibe. I'm looking forward to getting my hair coloured here, as the results I've seen have been really great! Not cheap, but not ridiculously expensive, Dappa is a must-try. read more

Wow. My opinion of Dappa has just dropped another star. Paul F. of Dappa Boutique decided to leave this comment on my last review: Comment from Paul F. of Dappa Boutique 19/5/2011: "hi sorry to hear of your problem but colour does take the time it takes to get it right i wish there was a fast solution but it sounds like you had a colour correction and you had black dye in your hair and that is why it took so long hence you rushing your stylist after to get out quickly and making them nervous you are probly partly to blame for your haircut and the internet deal should be paid in advance but that is fine and you you were given a very good price for the services you were given most salon would charge you extra for puttin highlights into hair dyed black all the toners etc bleaching hair is very diferrent from dying hair it can take hours to process more so on dark hair i know the stylist you used and she is excellent but they are like artists treat them nicely do not be moody and you will get a good haircut all the best" I'm not a huge advocate of "the customer is always right" as I, myself, had been on the other side of customer service and I know what it's like when you've got a tough customer. To tell me I'm partly to blame and tell me not to be moody is very poor customer service, and I'm quite surprised you can get any return customers with an attitude like that. I realize that my hair was not the easiest job in the world, but i gave plenty of notice about the time in the beginning. I also was not moody. In fact, I was very polite and congenial to everyone. I realize the stylist was feeling rushed and I felt bad about that, so I made sure to tip her. And I certainly did not have to do that. The way my hair turned out isn't so much of a problem as your customer service is. And I am now referring specifically to you. Do you regularly insult your customers if they're not satisfied? Not far from Chalk Farm tubette is Dappa Boutique which has filled the niche of combining a vintage clothing store, with a hair salon. Don't be baffled though I do admit I was unsure of how this concept would fair but it does work, in a cool Camden sort of way. The vintage clothing it self is standard stuff, usual culprits. The menswear is better than ladies selection of garmentage in this case though ladies has a solid range of furs but waaaay pricey people. Loved the hat drawers though and these were priced perfectly. Polie and chatty owner Paul was keen to show his designer collection which I admit I had not heard of. This was displayed at the front of the store and was easy to access as less items on the rail to sift through. The salon is said to be top trump and I will defo be booking in for some highlights soon. The pricing is good as many of the staff are celebrity employed privately as well. All in all, seeing it is believing with this one, the concept is different and it actually works. read more

Well chop and colour me impressed - after a few hours, three cups of tea, a mountain high pile of Toblerone and a virtual trip to Morocco (thanks to the amazing Moroccan oil treatment) I came out a different person... all flirty and fringed with a vintage designer beachy dress to boot! Like a lot of the sexy chops I saw that day, I'll keep this one short and sweet: The stylists here not only know their stuff, but they know their Yelp, so mention the deal you see on their Yelp biz page and you'll snag yourself a great deal as well. There's nothing like a great hair cut to lift the winter spirits and tucked away here in Camden you'll find that and a whole lot more. Plus, it's gorgeous. Seriously. When I first stated Yelping, I immediately thought of Dappa Hair. There is nothing more important to me, other than family, health..that sort of stuff than hair bleach, Hair bleach is an integral part of my personality. Lindsay from Dappa (Colour Trophy Winner) bleachs me better than anyone else. She makes my hair even with no brassy band around the scalp, when the chemicals take my dark roots away. I followed Lindsay to Dappa from another salon. Dappa has a comfortable yet chic vibe and you can browse the vintage clothes while you walk around in a smock waiting to be blonde. Lindsay is the best hairdresser on both sides of the Atlantic. She does whatever it takes to get me even, toned and ready. I LOVE DAPPA HAIR!!!!!!!! THE BEST! read more

I have sexy hair if I do say so myself. Thank you so much to the wonderful team at Dappa for their helpful advice at the Elite event. This lead to me booking an appointment that night and coming back at the end of the week for a new 'do. What's so fantastic about this place is that they really do listen to what you want. They'll get the shade of your colour perfect and the cut "just so". You'll also get a beer, wine or cup of tea, a good natter with the friendly team and a chance to smooch the puppy Dougal that lives there. This isn't a normal hairdressers they have a designer exchange and a fabulous selection of vintage. I walked out with a wonderful cape (very on-trend don't you know) and could have spent even more had it not been just before Christmas. I have to think of all the presents for OTHER people I need to buy now. read more

I can only rave about this salon and my stylist Christian, who did an amazing '60's style for me. It was a masterpiece of teasing and volume, and quite honestly, I have never received so many compliments on my hair as I did later on at the party I attended. This place is pretty fun - like a salon in a vintage store. My stylist (a big sweet bear of a man) was running late and that turned out to be a blessing in disguise as it gave me a chance to discover the AMAZING art supplies store a few doors down - Slanchogled!) I was on a voucher deal and picked a vibrant red for my colour. When it was first washed out it looked super orange and I was quite paro, but as it dried and it was cut, I was relieved to see it wasn't quite that light. I think the application was a bit messy as I had orangey bits all around my hairline, but all in all I was impressed with my cut and would probs return if I found another coupon (Don't judge - I have budget issues ;) read more

Unfortunately my original review was deleted as I received threats of legal action. So I have removed the controversial bit but here is the rest. Dappa Hair boutique totally dissapointed me. On my (pre paid) voucher it stated that 'superlong hair would incur a £10 surcharge' My hair is just to my bra strap. Super long? I think not. To avoid my stylist having to deal with my complaint after I was told I would have to pay an extra £10 anyway, I asked to speak to the manager. One of the rudest men I have ever met in my life. He refused to make eye contact or aim to resolve the fact that his company was mis selling a product (a discount haircut, and then trying to charge me an extra £10 on top of what I had already paid- which WASN'T supported by the small print, no matter how much you huff and puff Dappa Hair, the truth is, it was mis sold) I was very polite and was trying to reach some agreement with him. However he couldn't be bothered to have a conversation and carried on looking at his computer screen eventually saying 'just pay the money or get out.' He made other comments implying I was a cheapskate (when I pointed out a girl with bum length hair had just left the salon, and that was 'super long' hairi as opposed to my normal length hair, his response was angrily to snap 'yeah and she paid £60 for her haircut' as if I should be paying that. Why sell discount haircuts online if you are not actually going to offer them?) The fact of the matter is, I was sold a discount hair cut and then as soon as I arrived they tried to get more money out of me. I am a disabled student, and couldn't afford the extra £10, and they refused to refund the money I had already paid, even though I hadnt had the cut. He was so rude that I ended up in tears having to leave the salon humiliated and very upset. Since badly reviewing him and the salon I have received threats of legal action and this comment 'the stylist didnt want to cut your hair because it hadn't been washed in months' seeing as they were threatening legal action over slander, I think this is pretty hypocritical. I was my hair every other day. I would urge people thinking of going here to look elsewhere. there are plenty of other good hairdressers in camden, who take their customer satisfaction more seriously. I cannot stress enough how unpleasant, aggressive and rude I found the owners attitude. I remained calm and polite (until the tears came, and then I shut up and left), I even made sure I thanked my would be stylist as it wasn't her fault that Dappa hair had partaken in false advertising. Save your self a horrible experience and go somewhere else, this place is the worst. read more

This little find made my day with its exquisite collection of 1960's and 70's clothes and accessories. The exterior is that of any vintage shop in the Camden area, but inside you find that an absolute maze of racks with a huge selection of women's and men's wear ! This little boutique is lovely on a day off when you want a little treasure hunt, you have to sift through the racks, and the likely hood of finding something you like is quite high since this place is run my real vintage aficionados. I do have my concerns about this place, which are that they may have nice pieces, but they are not necessarily well kept, there may be stains on clothing , the accessories may be scratched, so one has to be careful. Also my biggest gripe, it is on the pricey side, they do have a nice range of designers but for the state the clothing is in, they do tend to over charge. That being said I don't think it is a complete right off and I would definitely say its A-OK read more

Yet another amazing hair day at quirky little Dappa, their Brazilian blow dry is second to none, and Monique my stylist always knows just what to do with my hair, even though its a weird mix of frizzy, curly, waviness! I visited Dappa hairdressers for the first time two weeks ago - got a great deal on half a head of highlights and moroccan conditioning mask as well as a cut and blow dry. Really reasonably priced - great atmosphere! Both the colorist and hairdresser I saw were great - clearly knew their stuff but were careful to follow my requests. Would really recommend a trip - however, make sure you leave enough time - they were running an hour late when I went - more than made up for it in terms of charm and delivery of service, but probably best to factor in a couple of hours just in case! read more

really upset with my haircut, i've got a small bald patch at the side of my head now, which was done when the hair dresser was cutting my fringe. hairdresser was also rather scissor happy despite me insisting that i wanted to trim very little and keep my length. don't like my hair at all, the tresses are uneven... i came home and had time to examine the mess (the staff seemed rather stressed & hassled), ended up crying .. all this for £47 and no one even bothered to offer me something to drink or read read more
