A coworker told me that her relative called LFAC before a hurricane because her dog was sick and…read moreher regular vet's office didn't return her calls. One of the vets from Lake Forest came in and opened the clinic to treat a dog that was not his patient. I was determined this was the kind of vet I wanted to use for my little crazy pup. So, on to my experience. We called on a Saturday to make an appointment for shots and boarding for Friday. When we arrived Friday, they had forgotten to write down the appointment. They fit her in anyway. One of the vet techs also let us walk her back and put her in the kennel and showed us where she would be staying. She even introduced us to her personal dog, a pit bull, which scored major brownie points because we're pittie lovers. So are they, which assures me they know a lot about dogs. They were even kind enough to call her old vet to obtain her shot records since I somehow lost them in the move. When we called to check on her they assured us she was doing fine and was being a very sweet girl. When we realized we weren't going to make it back in time to pick her up, we called and they said it was no problem for her to stay another night. Thank goodness! I had to work they day after we returned home so my hubby picked her up. He told me they didn't give him her shot records so I called and asked them to fax them to me. They gladly did so, and did it promptly. Of course, when I got home, her shot records were laying on the bar with the receipt stapled to them. He said they did try to sell him a few other services, but they weren't pushy about it. One of the things was teeth cleaning, which she honestly needs. All in all, it was a good experience. I think we've found Jazzy's new vet. Let's hope we only have to see them for regular appointments and no crazy incidents.

We went for our first visit today and we absolutely love Dr. Corte. He's an old school vet, an old…read morebiker dude that resembles Santa Claus. He seems like a great guy and he's fantastic with the animals and he doesn't try to upsale you on a bunch of additional unnecessary services. We decided to give him a try after my husband brought home a tiny puppy someone dropped off at the dump next to where he's clearing land. Jazz was also due for her annual vaccinations. We called the other vet that we'd been using and got a quote of $130-$150 per pup for shots. I asked a frugal friend where she takes her dog and she recommended Highland. Sure enough, a vet check-up and shots for both dogs was $152, so half the cost. Not to mention, Jasmine has had an on-again, off-again limp for several months. We noticed her leg got better, but she still limps from time to time. Dr Corte watched her walk down the hall and said it's her knee, likely because of the way she jumped off of something, that it will get better, then she'll probably do it again and we'll see her limp, then it will get better again. Bingo! That's exactly what's been going on. He said he could do surgery if we wanted to spend $3,600, but he wouldn't recommend it. I love that I can trust him to take care of them, and if he tells me they need something, it's not an upsale, they really need it. The former vet we used wanted to put her to sleep and do surgery and I didn't want to put her through that if it wasn't necessary. I also asked about spaying the little one in the future and they told me he won't spay until they're 6 months old. I don't believe any reputable vet would spay before 6 months, so that was another positive. Having a veterinarian I trust is a huge deal to me. We were very impressed with Dr Corte and his staff, and we will definitely be going back to Highland from here on out.

She told me because of my cats recurrent infections we should do extra testing to make sure something more major wasn't wrong. I signed paperwork saying it would be over $1000. I was so upset and I wanted to know my baby was ok so I signed the papers. She told me that it looked like something was off with the X-rays - that my cats intestines were pushed over to one side but that she couldn't tell if there was a tumor or anything in her stomach and I should see someone more experienced to do more scans. When I was paying for the bill I was the one who had to say that they told me they couldn't take urine because her bladder was empty so that should come off the bill and obviously the urinalysis should come off the bill. They refunded that $132. I had to wait five days to take her to another vet, five days of worry and anxiety that guilt like I should have known she had something growing in her stomach and it could be thousands of dollars to remove this etc. When I got to the new vet they knew immediately that the X-ray was done wrong. They said my cat was listed slightly to the side so her bowels shifted because she had fecal matter in her colon. They did a new x ray, showing her intestines were fine and in the right place. There was no tumor, she needs to be on special food (which I had just gotten five days ago because of the recurrent infections) and they did the urinalysis and got the results next day and let me know the crystals were dissolving with the food and she would most likely not have this issue again. They charged me less than half the price! When I went to the office to ask to be refunded for the improper scan (less than $200 of the thousand dollars) I was told that the scan was done correctly and I would not be getting any of my money back. I said "then what was pushing her intestines over to one side?" Honestly after sitting an waiting an hour because the doctor wasn't there (despite telling me she gets in at 8 am at my last appt) I was just ready to leave. Maybe this vet is better with dogs. I don't know. But if you have a cat I would go to literally any other vet.

My 22 y.o. started failing quickly. I had a place that did home euthanization and I knew I wanted Sparky to die at home and not with the stress of a drive and an office where he knew bad stuff happens. I was the very first home euthanization on their brand-new service. Thank you! My other place was closed, another referral was 2 weeks out. Parvin came the next day and right on time. I had both a doctor and an assistant. They let me cry, play Sparkś favorite music and were just wonderful. It has been 6 hours and I am smiling instead of crying. The payment was allowed in advance so all I had was a couple of kind people in my home, making my Sparkyś life-end as good as grabbing loose meat from a cookout on the patio floor. Maybe I will get another companion besides my derelict half-feral Lucille one day. Parvin is my go-to forever now. RIP Sparky Van Cleave

After he did that, he called me and we spoke in length about her and what he thankfully did not find. Instead of taking her back to the eye specialist , I decided to have Dr Parvin do the surgery of removing her eye. The girls that answer the phone and helped me out multiple times with questions were so helpful! I felt like I was bothering them, but they never let me feel that way. They got my questions answered and were always very kind. Dr Parvin and your team, thank you for keeping my baby in good hands and always giving me updates. My only complaint is that I do not get to meet y'all in person because of Covid, but I hope soon we can! :) Pepper Ann is doing great since her surgery. This worried momma is very thankful!
