The first thing that got my attention about iDance was that it was in English...There are a lot of…read moresalsa lessons around Stockholm but to my knowledge they are all in Swedish unless you ask if they will do it in English on a class by class basis. Not that it's impossible to figure out what's going on in the context of dancing, but it does add an added layer of processing if it's not your native language (and you're not very good to begin with [at Salsa OR Swedish]). But the thing that sold me was absolutely Andreas' personality and teaching style. I first took a lesson during one of the free drop-in weeks for bachata which happens a few times during the year and really enjoyed the class. It was A) fun! B) funny! (different words Swedes ;). Andreas has an awesome teaching style that really takes the stress out of dancing and makes it easy to laugh at yourself, which is essential if you are like me and hate being bad at things. He's also a pretty funny guy leading the class. The other great thing about this school is how many different locations it is taught in! North Stockholm, Central Stockholm, Söder -- there are classes everywhere, and at all sorts of hours! They also seem to remember what it's like to be a beginner. The most defeating part for me with other schools has been taking a lesson and then trying to practice in the socials with the regulars. Of course some people are helpful and most are understanding but it's not necessarily the best situation to learn when you're starting and for me it stopped being fun at that point. iDance has come up with the idea of holding practice sessions for the students in the beginners courses with slow tempo songs and cheap entrance. Awesome idea. Pretty clear they really want you to have the opportunity to succeed. It's a big group of people, so if you're expecting individual attention that's not really how this style of teaching works. It's all about follow the leader and figuring things out with your classmates. I'm not in any position to judge the technical aspects of his teaching style or whether what I'm learning follows this or that style of Salsa. Every time I go to the weekly class I smile and laugh and so does everyone else. That's 5 stars in my book. Recommended!

Urban Om is a small gem right next to the main railway station in Stockholm…read more One of the founders is from New York and many of the guest teachers are from all over the globe, which gives a nice feeling of opening towards the visitors. All day long people come and go, taking part in classes, receive sessions and hanging out with friends, gracefully serviced by the reception and the karma crew. The program offers a wide variety of classes with (just some examples): vigorous Osho dynamic morning meditation, different yoga styles, chakra dance and silent sitting mindfulness practice. They were offering a months membership at a discount…read more I'm happy with what I got for the price, and I think even the full price is reasonable considering what you get. There is a sauna and a nice locker room (I do wish it was a little bigger and had a shower curtain, I'm not as brave as the Swedish women who shower freely together). Sometimes the locker rooms can get a bit full and there is only one mirror that's usually occupied. The staff has been super accommodating and nice. Good customer service is important to me! Booking classes is easy and convenient through the website. I really think if your a yogi you will love this place. The classes themselves have been mostly good. I first took a "therapeutic yoga" class thinking it was more like muscle therapy, but it was definitely more like mental therapy... Stuff got a little weird. Everyone was moaning and breathing out so much it felt like I was having a stretch in the middle of an orgy on the subway in July. They could definitely use a little better air circulation if their going to keep having everyone share smells of what they just ate for lunch. That class got a little too "spiritual" for me. But, I still really like the place because the Flow yoga is pretty on point. However, they do tend to do some pretty advanced moves in there and do not offer modifications for all of them. It's like you just have to know them already (i know some, but not all). They also do not have very many levels of difficulty in their classes either, like I've seen at most other places. It's straight from yoga basics to full on flow yoga balancing on your head stuff. Needless to say, a lot of these sporty swedes could hack it, but I'm starting out again after quite a few years and found that standing on my head is just not going to happen at this moment in time. So overall, this place is good. I just feel like I need to try our a few more (maybe more of a sporty type of Pilates and yoga together in a studio) to make a judgment call of what I need personally. I'm just not into all that "free yourself, water, fire, spirit" stuff. If your like me you might find it a bit too extreme. I would stay away from the meditations and go more for the stretching classes.

A friend of mine had her bridal shower and her best friend organized a pole dance session here. Obviously, we didn't have a clue until we arrived at this place and saw pictures hanging on the wall of these talent pole dancers. First thing was first, we got to choose what our friend or "bride to be" had to wear for the session and the studio here had a bag full of kinky dresses haha. She ended up being some kind of officer, of course in latex :) Then we got ready in the changing room - and that changing room had everything from hairsprays, deodorant, make up removers, straightener, hair dryer etc and of course shower. Everything you really needed once you finish your pole dance session and get ready for an evening out. Our instructor was a guy, but no problem he was very nice and he was sooo good!!! I mean, he moved around the pole more sexy than I ever could do. At the end of our sessions we were all able to perform a whole choreography! It was so much fun! I am not sure if I would have done it on my own but with a group it's so much more fun. But be aware, you might have muscle ache the next day from all the moving around and holding to the pole.
