Danish language class!!…read more As every language school the quality depends on the teacher. So far so good !! I had 3 teachers and all of them were really good. The infrastructure of the school is also good. Every classroom is equipped with a projector and computer. And the students can even use iPads. The canteen is actually good as well. They have yummy cheap sandwiches (10 Kr.) and the coffee is only 5 Kr. I suppose it's mainly for the students.

I can only recommend this school to anyone who wants to learn Danish…read more They have very efficient teaching method and they select their students based on the students' education background, so chance you will be sitting in a class with others with the same education level as you, making it easier for the whole class to learn something together. That's why you have to attend a placement test if you have learned some Danish, just to know where you should start. I myself started from Module 3 (halfway up) and while it was difficult to start from the middle without properly knowing the basics, I finished my Danish course (paid by the kommune) within half year only. Of course, it all depends on which teacher you get, and I got an awesome teacher all the way (Kamma Andersen) so take her class if you know she's teaching the semester.

Yes yes yes. I have taken 3 out of 4 Danish modules here and I am 100% satisfied. The school is…read moreorganised and is quite strict, so only people who really want to learn can keep up. You are aloud to miss only a certain amount of classes meaning that if you miss too many you will need to repeat the class. If the teacher thinks you re not at the level of others they also tell you to repeat. When you want to start they make you take a test so they will assign you to the right level. Same happens if you take a brake of more than 6 weeks from the school. They also demand that everyone has a high education and a good English. Friends of mine that changed to this school after taking modules elsewhere, had problems of keeping up as the level was too high and some were even rejected as their level was not as high as it should. The books you get are free and you don't need to give them back as in other schools. You also have pronunciation classes for free if you want to join. The class rooms are nice and are equipped with a computer and a projector which we use often to present something or listen and watch to a video. I also have met a lot of nice people here. So I highly recommend it to dedicated learners. The only negative side is that I heard from other students that they had some teachers that were not nice or too strict. We also had sometimes replacement teachers that were in my opinion too soft and easy going. So I guess it depends very much on the teacher as well. Mine was Jorun and she was very good.

How many modules I have to pass and in what length of time and when it is possible to make breaks. After this, I got a choice of dates to start - it was overly subscribed and there was a month long wait to start. Luckily they fit me into an earlier class. Still, when you get there for your first lesson, only half of those registered turn up. This is not the fault of the school but they could have a better system with putting people on waiting lists to join a class that is actually undersubscribed. Teachers. They are hit and miss. They seem very disorganised and causal about the whole affair. All three (due to our main teacher not being able to make the lesson or was off ill) did not give structured teaching and were easily distracted by non-Danish language matters. One supply teacher spent half an hour to give us his life story when a fellow student politely asked how he came to be a Danish teacher. The school is large and has a good study area and a computer room for those who don't have internet access. It also has a cheap canteen serving awful but cheap (3 DKK) coffee and tea that you serve yourself in thermos flasks. There are also sandwiches and pastries that are also reasonably priced!

When moving to a new county, it is important to learn about country's language and culture. - It's a matter of respect, and in order to be included and fit in in your new society. However, in my opinion, people from Scandinavia should be able to communicate with each other on their own respective languages. Unfortunately, I am not the only one experiencing that this does not always work out well. So, when the good news about free Danish lessons had reached my ears, I decided to sign up. The Danish language courses are offered at a great number of language centers, and it can be difficult to know which one to choose. As a Scandinavian, I did not feel that I had to start from scratch, together with people from more faraway countries speaking languages that differs a lot from Danish. Luckily a friend of mine advised me to check out CLAVIS Sprog & Kompetence at Nørreport, a language center offering "Scandic classes" for people who are familiar with a Scandinavian language, in addition to regular Danish courses. I decided to follow this advice, and I am glad I did. Of course, I can only tell from my experiences from the Scandic classes, but in my point of view CLAVIS Sprog & Kompetence has skilled tutors, who adjust the lessons so that they fit the participant's language skills: Listening comprehension, reading comprehension, writing and speaking. - If you choose CLAVIS there is a great possibility that you improve all these four main language skills. I would recommend you to give it a try.

Once I paid the deposit, I heard nothing from these people for weeks and then got a letter in the mail with the time/date of a class I couldn't attend. I repeatedly emailed them and they never got back to me. The pandemic struck, so I ignored everything and when I recently returned to Copenhagen I got a paper saying I had been assigned to another class I couldn't make, and just like last time, my many emails explaining this to them went unanswered. I just called to see if they could get me into a class at a time I could actually make, and I was lectured to by a preachy women about missing class. As for the teachers and the classes, I have no idea if any of them are any good, as I couldn't get them to listen or work with me to find a class at a time I could attend. Anyway, I see another woman is complaining to the commune, so I'll follow her lead and let them know about my experience as well. Our tax dollars (and yes, I do work and pay taxes here) go to these schools (as did my deposit which no doubt will not be refunded). They should be held accountable. It was easy to follow the class (although it might have been better to have a quick flow explanation upfront). The teacher was easy to understand and friendly and engaged. Fellow students were engaged and equally delighted to be there. the space was bright and sunlit; we worked at separate benches and then are at a charming long table in a beautiful room.
