Dan's Tractor: Service with No End! Always with a smile.
When I purchased my Kubota tractor in 2006, I also purchased some implements, and a "quick hitch." One of the implements was a tiller. After using this tiller for a while, I was very impressed how strong it was (hitting huge rocks and not breaking.) I went back to Dan's Tractor to give a favorable report. I was told this was not the tiller I had purchased. That tiller would not fit the quick hitch. They upgraded me (for free) to a better tiller that would fit the quick hitch, but never mentioned to me their kindness in this better, more expensive tiller.
I also thought I had an antifreeze leak. Antifreeze would show up on the barn floor. I told Dan's Tractor and they wanted to immediately fix the problem. I had to be at work the next day so I told them I would leave the pasture gate unlocked and the tractor is in the barn. At noon that day I was in a business luncheon. Skip, the owner, was in the same restaurant. He told me my tractor was already fixed. They had picked up my tractor, fixed it, then delivered it back into my barn, then locked the pasture gate, all in the same morning. It turns out it was not a leak. When the frost plug was installed, some antifreeze drained out, into the bucket support brackets, had pooled in that location, simply draining its way out with time.
I wanted assistance and training on how to do the 50 hour servicing. Dan's tractor picked up my tractor. I drove to their shop. When I arrived the mechanic had my tractor in the shop with two auto creepers, one for him and one for me. That mechanic had me under my tractor, teaching me every detail of the 50 hour servicing, even putting red paint on the drain plugs I would have to access for future services that I would do alone.
Every time I have a question, no matter how small or large, they are always there to help me understand my tractor.
I decided on a Kubota tractor for this reason: I was considering either a John Deere, or a Kubota. Anyone can sell a tractor, but what about the service after the sale? I had to buy some drive belts for a Murray riding mower, for a neighbor with ill health. John Deere carried these belts. One week before attempting to buy these belts, Murray went out of business, but John Deere still had all the drive belts hanging behind the counter, in order, smallest to largest. Deere explained they could no longer access part numbers, so they could not help me. I asked if they could simply hold my old belt, up to the new belts and find the closest match. They told me, "that would be too much work." I said "thank you, you have just told me who will give me the best service for the farm tractor I need to buy next month."
I cannot imagine ever buying any serious farm equipment, other than buying from Dan's Tractor. Skip the owner, and Bill, and the mechanic I mentioned, are all still working there. Years later, you will still see the same people, and get to know them by first name. read more
