Had a blast queening out with a gay man and his lesbian friends when he was joking about how their vaginas smell. We were all in a communal flow state. Great place to queen out, grab a drink and some food, listen to some great live music and do the Macarena while "Cotton Eye Joe" is playing. Overall experience -- 7/10

You would be incorrect. While after taking over the business the new owners have not come out (ha, good pun) to say clearly that David is an LGBTQ bar, they stand to "support" the community. *eye roll Toucheź shutting down as the only LGBTQ bar in the Dakotas was awful, it was always so fun, then you hear a bigger better version is coming and it's a flop, it's stayed a flop. I do not frequent this bar bc of its dank appearance and tired "shows" The new owners have added different types of events to David (yay) but without the backbone to support it, or the time and energy required to make the events great. The most recent "vampire (?) drag show" being a great example. The show was put on without the thought of those watching and what they'd enjoy seeing, the talent had little to no experience, did not put in the time to practice, and the show was a bust. I was more upset that I came and supported this garbage than I was about my wasted money and time. This venue needs to stop asking for a door charge for terrible shows, and start proving the time and talent is even worth one. The decoration is sad and tired, the bar in total needs to just close. I'm surprised they can pay to keep the lights on. You need to hire a promoter, bring in legit talent, stop with the door charge, change the crap set up and invest a little more time in making this a legitimate place for people to come and enjoy themselves.

The steak was delicious and the fries were good, as well. The bartender and I talked about the area and discussed the bad weather they've been having lately and I asked about Castlewood. My 2 friends and I needed bait to fish at a relaxing lake nearby and we heard about this place for…read morebait. It was a beautiful day and the view was great from the bait shop to the water. We walked into the bait shop and right as the door closed we felt unwelcomed and uncomfortable. The first impression was some "locals" making us feel like we were the most unintelligent beings on the face of the earth. We asked them for minnows and they checked in the area where the minnows were and said they were out of minnows! We couldn't believe that a bait shop wouldn't have minnows. So I went into the bait area to look for worms in the fridge and a man yelled at me making a scene and told me "you are not allowed to go back there". We knew right away that we needed to leave and we did. The entire time the employees refused to talk to us and were a factor to the discomfort at the place. We didn't even want to purchase any worms at that point and had to travel 20 miles east to get minnows. Would not encourage buying any bait from this place because it's very unreliable and the atmosphere of the place would be enough to ruin someone's day.

Entering the bar required a walk past the smokers just outside the front door, while the seating area consisted of several rows of adjacent tables (not my favorite because of reduced privacy) without background music. The service was fairly quick, but rather grumpy. I noticed a pool room with three pool tables, five electronic dart boards, a touch tunes juke box, a casino area and cornhole games outside. Overall, meh.
