I was a customer of K&M and the owner, Ronnie was a really good friend of my dads, so when hurricane Idalia came through at the end of August and flooded my home I picked them over several other possible cabinet shops in my area. The owner Ronnie even cut me a pretty sweet deal, but I would have paid triple with anyone else if it meant I didn't have to go through this. These last 6 months with K&M have been the stuff of nightmares. Their business model is the definition of overpromise, and under deliver. I had the drawings done in early October , cabinets weren't delivered until February and they were delivered incomplete - no doors, panels or drawers. The doors came finally on April 3rd 2024, the drawers were supposed to come with it but were mysteriously missing. Ronnie told me " I had no idea they weren't there". The drawers finally came yesterday, 4/8/24 but they forgot some hardware which I had to drive to their shop to get and install myself. They also never completed the decorative post I ordered. The delays and excuses include but are not limited to the following. "OSHA is charging me with violations, OSHA is running inspections on my facility, OSHA hasn't responded to me yet, my design guy quit, my installers quit, my new installers have the flu, a customer bounced a check, I had no signal on my cell phone, I'm not in Florida this week, Fedex lost the doors, holidays of course... If the wind blew in Montana it would be a reason as to why my cabinets weren't done. I ordered white shakers which was a very standard common request, with uppers, lowers, and a decorative post to support my granite island. I was originally promised a completion date of end of November, Ronnie said to me that he'll put it through an open order that he has already and get them knocked out ASAP. November turned into early December, then he promised I'd have them before Christmas. Next thing you know Christmas is here and my family is eating pizza on paper plates because I don't have a kitchen. December turns to January, still nothing until February. Finally, the day comes and turns out, the cabinets are done but the drawers and doors aren't? The excuse this time is "well doors and drawers are "finishings" and done separately". Really???! To top it off, the cabinets didn't line up with the backsplash, and were incorrectly measured to fit my existing granite that was part of the deal. I had to pay a neighbor $800 to completely redo the backsplash which didn't line up. Then I had to pay a granite company $1500 extra to cut all my granite to fit the cabinets and it doesn't even look right still. I asked Ronnie in December if they needed to come out and re measure since is lead design guy quit - he said no need! I could fight for a refund but Ronnie wouldn't have the money to pay me. He is running a heavily in debt and nearly bankrupt operation. After careful research, we came to discover that the delays on the doors were because Ronnie is heavily in debt, and past due with his suppliers. He had some equipment stored at Burges Heating and Air next door that they put on the street because Ronnie stopped paying them rent! The reason the lead design guy quit? Because Ronnie bounced his payroll check! Ronnie has run successful businesses before, but he is running this company into the dirt. I feel real bad for all the people that are going to be trapped when he finally goes under, and I feel for the employees that are left. I will say, the installer that put my cabinets in, his name is Mike, was a really good dude. He was professional, quick and hard working and he was able to fix minor things on the fly. He really impressed me. Ronnie though needs to hang up his hat and get out of this business.
