Ms Badpenny and I recently came here to grab some great food! This time I had the pollo asada burrito and MB had a breakfast burrito. The food always tastes so fresh, also there's a lot of parking.

I had a pretty good plate of "huevos a la mexicana" from this taco shop. It was a combo plate which came with the scramble, the rice, the beans, and with a small side of shredded lettuce and onions with some warm corn tortillas for $8 and some change. The scramble would of been much better if it were not so heavy on the tomatoes. It either needed another egg or less tomato. Either way would of worked. It was good but much better after I picked out about half of the tomatoes, especially when I made my breakfast tacos with the corn tortillas. The rice was was good. It was cooked well to a fluffy consistency, but could of used some seasoning. The refried beans were nice and had a good creamy texture with pieces of whole beans here and there. They had a good robust flavor. They offer a good salsa bar with a good mix of hot sauces. The lady behind the counter and the one who made my meal was very nice. "Serena Morena con los Tomates Senora."

Probably the best Adobada I've ever had. And the prices are good. 10/10 in my book !!

Good Mexican food. Staff is friendly and you can call for pick up. Huge tacos, bean rice and meat burritos are good; carne asada and Adobada are good in it.

Delicious, always hot and fresh, amazing staff! Best in El Cajon hands down. They gotta teach other places how to cook the carne asada.

One of the best burrito spots in El Cajon. Salsa is amazing and the food is great. Parking can be a bit of a hassle but worth it.

Needed a quick bite to eat so to Yelp i went ... saw Chuys had some good looking food and reviews so we took the 9 minute drive from Parkway Plaza after some holiday shopping. Upon walking in there is about nine bar stools aligned the L shaped bar table for sitting along the left wall/window. Place was spotless, super clean with pretty dope street art to your right! The woman at the register was very nice and the cook seemed to carry a great attitude as well. I noticed many customer coming were returning customers which is something I always like to see. California burrito was packed with meat and cooked to absolute perfection. I could actually taste the carne asada over everything which is honesty rare for me. The guacamole was not oozing out nor was it overpowering the taste of the whole burrito. The size of this thing was as about the size of my forearm! Filled me up for sure!! 6 rolled tacos with guacamole, sour cream and cheese was also perfectly cooked. Perfect amount of crunch on the ends and not too soft in the middles. Plenty of meat in the rolled tacos as well, which you could also taste well through all the toppings! We'll definitely be seeing you again soon Chuy's!!!

I ordered a California burrito and asked to swap in adobado pork. No hesitation, no side‑eye, just a nod and a "you got it." That alone puts them ahead of half the shops in the county. The burrito itself delivered. The adobado came through with that deep red glow and smoky tang, the kind of flavor that feels like it's been tended to, not rushed. Fold that into fries, cheese, and a tortilla doing quiet, reliable work, and you get a bite that hits all the right notes. Rich, bright, salty, satisfying. It's a simple thing done well, which is exactly what you want from a neighborhood taco shop. Chuy's isn't trying to reinvent the wheel. They're just making a damn good burrito and treating you right while they do it.

Hands down the best tacos I have had in San Diego. I was actually blown away by this place. I have…read moredriven past it countless times and was always intrigued by the cute mascot and the outside decorations, but I was also confused why there was almost never anyone inside eating or grabbing food. The parking lot looked exactly how it always does. Barely any cars and no one inside when we arrived. There is plenty of seating though with booths inside and some outdoor seating as well. The menu is posted above the register and has a ton of options that all sounded really good. They also have bottled aguas frescas like horchata and jamaica. Another reviewer mentioned they are house made. They also offer canned sodas, bottled drinks, and juices. I ordered three tacos: the New York steak taco (their version of carne asada), a cabeza taco, and a carnitas taco. My husband ordered the flour quesadilla with asada and two al pastor tacos. There is a salsa bar with hot sauce, red salsa, limes, radishes, grilled onions, and grilled peppers. My favorite thing there was the grilled onions. They were a little cold so I'm assuming they had been sitting there for a while, but they were still so good. Our food was brought out to our table. Service was pretty neutral. Nothing amazing but everything was smooth. I asked for no salsa on my tacos because the employee mentioned the same salsas were already at the salsa bar so I could add what I wanted myself. When the tacos came out they looked incredible and smelled even better. The New York steak taco was a thin slice of steak laid on the tortilla topped with guacamole, onions, cilantro, and beans. My husband got the quesadilla version of this and it was honestly amazing. The cheese was that perfect melty quesadilla cheese. I have never had beans on an asada taco before but it added such a nice touch of flavor and saltiness. The steak itself was sliced thin enough where every bite was tender and full of that rich beefy flavor. The al pastor taco really stood out too. Unlike a lot of places that use ground pork with seasoning, this tasted like real al pastor. The pork was juicy in the middle with a crisp exterior that made every bite really satisfying. The cabeza taco is what really sold me though. It was incredibly tender and packed with flavor. You can tell it was cooked slowly. The carnitas taco was different from what I'm used to but in the best way. Instead of shredded pork it was large chunks of carnitas. It was juicy, flavorful, and made me rethink how carnitas tacos should be done. Every bite kept confirming the same thought in my head that this might be the best taco spot I've tried in San Diego. I still have a lot more places to explore around the city but this place definitely set the bar really high.

Was really hoping for more but, truth be told, got less. Place didn't feel very clean, the flavors were kinda out of balance, and the pricing didn't match what was on the plate. With so many solid spots around, not sure I'll be coming back. Bummer, bro. -- Captain 619

The service was nothing to praise but it was just a simple take my order and get me my food with a welcoming. Cost - The cost is a little bit less than average to average. The big thing for me is the burrito sizes are large. They're more long than bigger in width but they're filled with whatever you order. They also give you a free side of tortilla chips on the side which is a great addition. Food - I've tried a breakfast burrito, a steak and bacon burrito and the hot Cheeto burrito. The quality is great, meat is juicy and flavorful. The bacon came out crispy in my breakfast burrito but not too overcooked. The hot Cheetos burrito was done in a way where the chips don't get too soggy and this makes for a great experience. The side salsa bar has a great selection of salsa and toppings to add to your burrito at no additional cost and all have great flavors. The tortillas have a great taste and the burritos themselves are not super greasy on the outside but have plenty of sauce on the inside. Quick Summary - The food honestly just hits the spot and especially for the price and free chips with the selections at the salsa bar. The cashier on duty was genuinely friendly and helpful, which made the experience even better. I ordered the Surf and Turf Burrito and a large Jamaican drink, which came out to $22.72. The burrito was incredibly moist and flavorful, with shrimp cooked perfectly. We paired it with the green avocado salsa and the habanero pineapple salsa fresca--both delicious, with just the right amount of heat. The Jamaican drink was refreshing and not overly sweet, which I appreciated. The only letdown was the zanahorias; they were bland and tasted mostly like vinegar. Aside from that, I'd definitely come back.
