I was initially cleared for a puppy named Claire. She was an amazing and sweet baby girl. The website did not list her as a pit Bull. My husband and I went to meet foster mom, Tina, Over and hour away to get Claire. Tina was amazing. However, she noted that there was a loose dog around and that Claire had Ben frightened. We quickly signed the paperwork and took baby Claire home. I honestly did not read all of the paperwork because I, too, was worried about the loose dog and when I got home, it said pit Bull. I was under the impression that Claire was just a mixed terrier of some sort. I tried to get her paperwork as a service animal (for my PTSD) but DASH demanded to have her back since my landlord had made a fuss about Claire being a pit Bull.
However, I was legally allowed to have Claire as a service dog despite her breed. I explained that to DASH. I requested an extra day to get the paperwork for Claire to be cleared as my service animal and get ready for official training. I had already spent $200 on her comfort. DASH demanded her back. Some woman named "Susie" or "Suzanne" was very nasty and demanded Claire back with only a 50% refund despite the website not listing Claire as a pit. I admitted to DASH that it was my fault not having read the forms thoroughly but, there was an aggressive dog in the area and I just wanted to grab baby Claire and head home. If anything had happened to me, Claire or Tina, I would have felt accountable.
I ended up losing 20% of my money and the owner, Danielle contacted me after I threatened to get an attorney involved regarding having Claire as a service dog and the circumstances surrounding the adoption.
Danielle said that she was sorry about the interaction I had with Susie and that I was still approved for a puppy. Danielle said that she was sorry that ItIt had gone down the way it did (I have text messages to prove correspondence). She was apologetic and nice. I was happy that I was able to speak with her and that everything was in good standing.
However, about a month later, I found three adorable dogs on her site (not pit bulls). I inquired about them and my texts and emails were read but not responded to. I assume that I am not allowed to adopt despite her initial fake sincerity.
Even if Danielle and "Susie" planned to block me from adoption, JUST SAY THAT. Literally. Don't ignore my requests or my communication. It's just plain rude and, I would advise anyone adopting from them to make sure you won't need them AT ALL after the adoption. They are rude after they "get rid" of the dog. Don't be swayed by the cute photos or captions. It's not genuine. read more
