We worked with Danielle for a large family photoshoot (14 people) and surprise engagement! She was fantastic. She was organized and calm and was able to capture all of the special moments. The only heads up I would give is that she does not to any photoshopping or touch ups. So if it's windy or you have a very large group (like we had), you will get some photos with fly aways and folks not looking and stuff. read more

Our family photo session began with Danielle picking a beautiful location at the best time of day in Sunriver. Unfortunately it was smokey but she was able to take some amazing pictures. We had 4 little kids who didn't always want to smile but Danielle had a few tricks to help with that. DANIELLE IS THE BEST! Her talent is just unbelievable! My husband and I were just married at Nestldown and she did our wedding and engagement photos. We are very very happy with our photos. They are beautiful and unique. We were specifically looking for work that would highlight nature and play with special lighting and keep us looking natural yet romantic. Danielle is very very good at doing all these things. My profile picture is from her, hehe. She's also very prompt. I've heard complaints from other brides that their photographers take months and months, Danielle certainly does not take too long. She's also flexible and down to earth, but she can also get things going! Of course, we were running behind at the wedding and she was very good about making sure she didn't add to our delayed schedule. The only small comment I have is that she does not deliver digital files until after the wedding, so I did not have digital files of my engagement session for my wedding website and invitations. Danielle provides the option to buy one digital file at a time, but it's quite expensive... I would have been happy to even use a branded version of the photos to give her credit. I think the policy should be reconsidered, but it certainly isn't a deal breaker! Just wanted to make sure other brides are aware as it can change your planning for budgeting and design of website and invitations. She is very well priced considering the high caliber of her work. I used the Nestldown vendor list to find her, and I was really excited that my favorite photographer, Danielle, was NOT the most expensive at all. Made our decision a no brainer. My husband and I got married at Nestldown over in the Santa Cruz mountains. For anyone who has ever seen this venue, it's as beautiful as it gets- tall redwood trees, beautiful gardens and a lovely touch of rustic elegance mixed with a bit of a fairytale house and a dragon den among the trees! It was so important for the two of us to be able to find a photographer who could capture the natural beauty of our venue along with the importance of our special day and Danielle did beyond all of that! We recently had a mini-session with Danielle for our family photos and are so pleased with the results! We have 3 kids (ages 5, 4 and 2)...needless to say, trying to get everyone to cooperate (at the same time) is a big challenge. My 2 year old was all over the place! Back in February 2015, we contacted Danielle based on a recommendation from one of my co-workers to see whether she was available to shoot our September 2015 wedding. If you're like me, your first thoughts in hiring a wedding photographer are, 'Why should I be spending so much money on someone who's just pointing and clicking? Can't my cousin X or friend Y do that?'. Watching Danielle work made me realize how much of a difference a true professional can make. We had our wedding at the Monterey Bay Aquarium, possibly the most challenging lighting environment one could find - lots of reflective surfaces make every photo a challenge. Danielle scouted out the location, took test photos, brought in special equipment for our event and overall did a masterful job (quote of the night, "Have I ever told you I'm a genius?"). Danielle has a degree in photojournalism and it shows - she's a pro, not a hobbyist. Danielle photographed our wedding in October 2015. Like everyone says, I think that choosing a wedding photographer is one of the most important pieces of planning your wedding. It was really easy for me after seeing Danielle's work and after meeting with her that she would be my first choice. She is very easy going, professional, and like others have mentioned, does not pressure you into anything. Danielle was even better than I imagined though once we saw her in action. Our first experience with her was our engagement shoot. I was really open for a location and Danielle already knew of some spots she has photographed at before in Santa Cruz. So we went over there one evening and spent some time in a field, near a tree and then we also were going to go over to the beach to get some beach shots. On our walk out to the beach, we saw an artichoke field and decided to stop in there really quick to get some shots. I loved how she just went with the flow and the lighting and the surrounding to determine where to shoot. We got so many amazing shots in several different locations and I swear the entire shoot only took 2 hours (including the drive from the field to the beach/walking). We got married in San Rafael and Danielle came with her assistant, Brianna, who was also fantastic. They showed up right on time, calm and ready to get to work. This was another thing that I loved about Danielle was that she was so calm and relaxed and fun to be around. You don't realize how much time you spend with your photographer on your wedding day so it's important you like being around them. Again, even at our wedding venue (which she had not photographed at before), Danielle found some really cool places to shoot at. We got married in a courtyard type of setting, but we have wedding pictures from around the property that make it look like we were in a forest, at an old house, near palm trees. It's amazing how she was able to make all of the property at our venue look so beautiful, not to mention us! Some of the other things I was pleasantly surprised with was how many pictures she got of our guests at the reception. As others mentioned, we were able to view and share the link to our photographs within 2 weeks of our wedding (amazing!). She works very quickly to get your pictures to you fast, my only problem was choosing which photos to put in the album :). My recommendation: book early! read more
