First, let me start off by saying I don't write a ton of reviews - but I simply cannot sing Danielle's praises enough. The photographs that Danielle took of our family, and future son-in-law, turned out absolutely gorgeous! Growing up, my family had professional photographs taken every year, and 95% of the time, it was a miserable experience. So much so that I have only braved group professional photos with my own family three times in 25 years. My two children are off at college now, with one about to be married, so I knew before long our family of four would be expanding. When I learned we would all be together for the Thanksgiving holiday; I began the tedious research to find a family photographer. After hours (seriously) of pouring through online reviews and visiting photographers' websites, I contacted a handful to check schedules. Immediately, Danielle stood out from all the rest for me. Her super-quick response, patience with all my questions, sense of humor, and incredibly warm demeanor was instantly evident. She also had excellent communication in the days up to our meeting. Danielle was, in a word, amazing. I've been acquainted with Danielle for many years and have always admired her spirit, sense of fun and her way of putting people at ease. When my fiance and I began our wedding planning I knew right away I wanted to hire Danielle. My hubby likes to know his options so we did look at a couple of others but he agreed she was the right fit for us. Our wedding was full of bright color and a lot of wedding photographers make everything very light colored. We wanted our bold, bright colors to shine and Danielle's style of photographs fit right into that. She also made everyone feel totally at ease with the photo process. I received so many compliments for her from our wedding party and guests. She had absolutely unflagging energy from start to finish. She was also understanding about a timing setback for me and the bridesmaids and just went and took more photos of the guys. She and her assistant Melanie gave us over 2000 digital photos from our wedding which were all amazing. I have never loved getting my photo taken and sort of dreaded that part of the day. Danielle is magical in that she is both 100% part of your wedding and 100% stealth faerie--when you're in the moment of your huge emotional experiences, you don't even notice she's there recording them, but everyone will end up telling you how much they loved your photographer . . . and you will, too. One of my favorite moments with Danielle was when she got under my cathedral-length veil with my husband and me and said joyfully, "Argh!! No one wears long veils anymore--I'm so excited to try some things!" And those photos . . . I mean, amazing. She's completely well-organized--so much so that I would recommend spending the money for the seven or eight-hour packages. We got married on Orcas, and the ferries only run so late, so we did a six-hour package, which means we have all the wonderful formal shots we'd decided on and several individual group photos, but we're low on the candids. Six hours isn't actually enough, so give her the time to do all she can do---which is beautiful. We told another friend who'd married the year before we'd chosen Danielle, and she sighed. "We thought about her, but she was too expensive for us." They ended up with a lackluster photographer and no good pictures. So bring in Danielle: she's an excellent communicator, a loving person, a skilled photographer, and your family will want to adopt her. read more

If we could give Danielle 10 stars, we would do so in a heartbeat! To say that Danielle is an amazing photographer barely scratches the surface of all that she brings. Danielle is simply a dynamo who makes her work look effortless and easy. We found Danielle after seeing a friend's epic wedding photos on Instagram, so we were thrilled she was available for our wedding. Although COVID-19 required us to postpone our wedding by a year, Danielle stuck it out with us, and we are so grateful she did. From capturing an absolutely magical pre-wedding/engagement shoot amidst a rainy, windy, and brisk fall day in the Pacific Northwest to memorializing our jam-packed wedding day, Danielle brought her effervescent aura that just lit up every room. Just looking at any of the photos she returned to us so quickly brings massive smiles to our faces. ALL of our family and friends loved her, and when your parents' friends are asking for her info for their own kids' weddings, you know you partnered with the best photographer possible. Danielle is AMAZING! We booked her for engagement photos as well as for our wedding, and she was incredible from start to finish. She's kind, outgoing, professional, and of course takes stunning photos. She made us feel beautiful and comfortable the whole time we were with her. On our wedding day, she was incredibly accommodating in taking both the photos we requested ahead of time as well as any photos we wanted on the spot. Her email and zoom communications were friendly, her contract was clear, and payments were easy. Danielle is very easy and fun to work with, from start to finish. She is very timely and clear with her correspondence, which was important for me when booking my shoot. I was able to know what I could expect from her, and what was expected of me. Once I got to the shoot, I was able to relax, and enjoy my picture day. Danielle is an amazing photographer to work with. Not only because of the end result (beautiful headshots), but also because of the process. I met Danielle at a Starbucks near a location she enjoyed shooting at, and before we even started shooting we talked for a while to get a sense of what I was looking for. Up until now, I haven't had fun shooting headshots, and it felt more like a chore to get out of the way that ended in good/passable headshots. Danielle is INCREDIBLE. She photographed our wedding (6/9/17), and she was such a pleasure to work with. She was exceedingly warm and kind, and so fun! Danielle Barnum is the most magical wedding photographer. I was married at Roche Harbor on San Juan Island in July. Danielle helped me at every step of the way. She was communicative with me, my fiance and my family, helped me scout locations, and was extremely flexible and positive throughout.
