I've been dealing with ankle pain for the past 5 months, going back and forth to this office with no real help. When the doctor finally said I needed an injection, he gave me two options - pay $300 out of pocket or wait up to 4 weeks for insurance approval. I chose to wait for my insurance. The doctor said he'd submit the request that same day. A week later, I called my insurance to check the status -- but there was no request on file. I called the office, and no one knew anything about the injection or the insurance request. After multiple calls, they finally said they would submit it -- but they didn't. Three weeks later, the request was finally sent, but they submitted it incorrectly, causing even more delays. When I called again, they had no idea what I was talking about -- nothing was in my file. I've been calling nonstop, but all I get is the same girl, Nina, saying she'll ask the doctor and call me back -- but no one ever does. It's clear they're dragging their feet, hoping I'll give up and pay out of pocket because insurance won't pay them as much. I've been suffering for 5 months, and the past 3 weeks have been unbearable. Do yourself a favor -- **go somewhere else**. No one deserves this kind of treatment, physically or mentally

The practice was very well-run and organized, and it's clear Dr. J-P cares about his patients and is happy to share his knowledge and answer questions. A couple people were VERY adamant that he is the best in the biz and I needed to go to him immediately. They were right. Dr. Monsanto is extremely smart, kind, and has a great demeanor. He identified that I needed surgery and got me scheduled as soon as possible. The surgery went well, and I am now 1+ month into my healing process. I've been seeing him every week and I always come in with a list of questions and he is always so helpful in answering them all. His assistant Elsie is great, too. My favorite kind of New Yorker - direct, effective, and great at communication. She is the most responsive person I've ever worked with at any doctor's office. We actually text, she leaves on read receipts, and gets back to me as soon as possible. Another note - I was between jobs and between health insurance plans when I got into my accident (Murphy's Law), but Dr. Monsanto was willing to work with me on a payment plan for my higher-than-usual deductible. This meant the world to me, because it meant that I was able to get the care I needed when I needed it and now I have a great chance at making a full recovery. I have also had a few pleasant conversations in the waiting room and his other patients rave about him as well. Dr. Monsanto is as good as it gets!!! If you broke something (or need an Orthopedist for any reason) come here immediately.

This place is an absolute scam fest and you should avoid at all costs…read more I broke my hand and was told that I was being scheduled with a HAND specialist who was IN NETWORK. I called to double check before I got there and was told yes - he is both a hand specialist and is in network. I get there, wait an hour and half past my appointment time before being seen - and have a stack of paperwork to complete/sign (with my broken hand...so I could hardly hold a pen). I get to a page asking if I consent to pay for out of network visits and I DID NOT SIGN IT. I brought it to the front desk and I said I'm not signing that part because I was told he is in network. She said - "yes - he is in network so you don't have to worry about that". Fast forward an 90 min of my waiting past my appointment time for him to finally see me... he tells me he isn't a hand specialist and is not in network. Refers me to a different doctor and pulls up Amazon on his computer and tells me to buy a cast there in the meantime. I left and found a great doctor elsewhere the next day - told this practice to cancel any future appointments and to definitely not bill me for wasting my time, misinforming me and literally lying to me repeatedly. NOW - I get a bill in the mail for out of network visit and despite my calls and emails with them before and after this visit... they billed my insurance and me. I refused to sign the form consenting to that billing and they still did it. I can't tell if it's negligent or fraudulent but either way it is completely unacceptable since I have been following up repeatedly since. To this day, they are still not getting back to me but are sending bills in the mail. Imagine if you showed up 90 minutes late to an appointment? They were 90 minutes late seeing me... during my work day that I had to miss hours of work for... and then this??? NEVER GO HERE. THEY ARE A SCAM, it is fraud, and I'll put every penny they're trying to steal from me into spreading the word before I ever pay them. Nice job! You created an enemy in your own neighborhood who will certainly hold this grudge.

At 2:00 pm, I requested a refund of my $40 co-pay as it still wasn't clear when I would be seen by Dr. Cohen. It wasn't my first visit to this establishment. I think Dr. Cohen is quite competent. The practice is simply poorly managed. I had a long wait beyond my appointment time the last time (pre-Covid) as well. Social distancing was purely voluntary. I find it inexcusable and unacceptable to have to wait 2 hours when you have an appointment. These people actually think it's normal to devalue the time of their customer. The staff is borderline rude, even by Brooklyn standards. I'm looking for a new Ortho group. I just don't have time to waste on poor service.
