In Central Park, located on West Drive at East 72nd Street, is a bronze statue of someone called Daniel Webster. The sculptor is Thomas Bell and it was cast in 1876. The statue is 14 feet high, perched atop a 20 foot high granite pedestal, which has the inscription "LIBERTY AND UNION, NOW AND FOREVER, ONE AND INSEPARABLE."
I had never heard of Daniel Webster, so I looked him up. He was a prominent lawyer in the 19th century, who also held various political positions (senator, secretary of state, etc).
