I just met with Rachel Long today to discuss plans for my new logo and paper trail branding for my business, Nancy Rothstein Photography. Based on the awesome logos and other design work she did for them, I was very excited at the prospect of hiring her to do some work for me. Rachel doesn't have a website, and frankly, she doesn't need one. The quality of the samples of her work that I have seen in addition to the samples she sent me was excellent. Not only is she a fantastic designer, she successfully orchestrates her designs using a wide variety of styles to suit many different needs. I am eagerly awaiting the first round of comps for my new logo...I'll keep you posted. She's not that graphic designer who's going to nickel-and-dime you to death every time you make an edit! If you want design work to help you stand out in the crowd, give Rachel a call. I enlisted help from Janet in getting me set up with marketing assets; business cards, brochures, etc. Frankly, through my prior corporate experience, I have had the opportunity to work with some fairly large advertising agencies, but I have to say that Janet delivered work (as a smaller agency) that is at equally good, or even better quality. Her creativity in design really helped to create a very compelling visual identity for our brand. Furthermore, she is so easy and flexible to work with. She is able to come up with several distinctive concepts, and then refine on the specific details; and she can do this in fairly fast timing, and with fairly little direction. My favorite words from her are 'try this out, and see if you like it.'. Because she has so much experience in design, she is truly able to self-start, and share over ideas that generally hit the mark. Janet has definitely become my 'go-to' for marketing services.

The gentleman on the phone told me I could bring in my document on a thumb drive or email it to them or upload it directly, and said that when I came in to the store we could consult on paper quality and price points. Great! I went straightaway and was helped by a lovely gal who was very understanding when I had to tell her how to sort through the many files on my thumb drive to find the correct two to print. She went to the back of the store to do the print job, and returned a couple times to consult: once to give me the total price (something like $0.75 per page, on heavy-duty, slightly shiny paper) and again when I reconsidered and asked to print only a smaller portion of my document. All with a smile. Besides, I love that this store is so community-oriented that both walls are lined with watercolors by a local artist (for sale, should you be interested) (the art, not the artist), and the gorgeous greeting cards (3 for $10) are by a handful of other local and very talented artists. Nice to look at while you wait for the printer to finish, and nice to feel a part of the arts community.

Jordan and his team, much to my amazement, did exactly that. They designed a wonderful looking site for me after the first meeting I had with Jordan where he went through all the details he could think of in order to get a thorough idea of my project scope. I am compulsive about people responding promptly, which they did often. On top of that, sometimes I would request changes via email and the next time I looked at the test site the changes would have already been made. Their time to launch was incredibly fast. It was less than two weeks which is really impressive for a small firm when making a custom site with a lot of modifications and quite a few revisions. They actually came in UNDER the upper end of the budget Jordan had quoted me. I truly believe in quality people doing quality work.
