That whole process of pre and post surgical treatment took a lot out of me then, between allergy tests and constant back and forth visits. Thankfully, post-surgery I went from getting a sinus infection once every other week, to once or twice a year, I'll take it. This past fall I had a particularly bad one to the point where I could barely keep my head up. Therefore, I deemed it necessary to go to an ENT. First off, since I hadn't been there in years, they gave me the new patient treatment. I know how my body works and Kantu would give me a certain shot that opened my sinuses up right away. I specifically asked for it. The PA who was now treating me, instead went and gave me strong antibiotic after strong antibiotic with steroids. She then asked me to come back in 3 weeks for a follow up. I show up for the follow up and soon after, began to wish I didn't. The wait time was extreme and the entire office literally shuffles people from floor to floor. I apparently was scheduled for an allergy test as part of my follow up, I didn't know that, nor did I care for one as I took one years ago it didn't solve my problem then. What a giant waste of time. Then, I'm told to go back to the waiting room. After waiting for another 40 minutes, I am put into another office to talk with the PA. Little to no actual follow-up occurs. She clearly didn't read my chart, speed talks my allergy test results and then offers me ANOTHER antibiotic, severely misdiagnoses my jaw swelling. She then tells me to come back for another follow up and to go back to the waiting room AGAIN for someone to schedule a cat scan for me, to look at my sinuses. I was in the waiting room for about 20 minutes before I decided to just leave. I left feeling like I wasted time and money, I was so upset. I especially felt like I was not being listened to. I come to you for one severe sinus infection and you're sending me for cat scans and allergy tests?!? Literally no consideration, especially since I already went through all that years ago. There's no way I'm going to put myself through that again or coming back here.

Did that 3 times, no one returned the callsbut I called again and finally got through, the woman was belligerent and insisted it had been submitted to the pharmacy. Um, no, I just came from there. I finally got the antibiotics and had a bad reaction and tried to call about that, couldn't get through left messages and again, went into the office. You can never directly speak with anyone! Perhaps it is better at Dr. Kantu's Bay Ridge office? I can't imagine. I've made another appointment to see a recommended ENT because I do not trust the diagnosis, or treatment. I would never return to a practice that is so thoroughly unprofessional with no decent patient care. Also, I discovered they just book a bunch of people at a time, and first come is first seen, which leaves a lot of people waiting. If you go there, expect a miserable experience.

The doctor himself was decent, but seemed almost too enthused to give me sinus surgery. (I'd gone for a second opinion after my first doc said it likely wasn't necessary.) If you happen to be someone that used Metroplus or medicaid/medicare type insurance, I think you will find this much different than some other offices Ive been, for example Lafayette Medical Center in Bedstuy in 400 blk of Lafayette, that place is a horror show. Anyway, I was very pleased. As for the office not speaking english, thats completely untrue. Im American and dont speak russian and everyone spoke english, the receptionist, the nurse, dr etc. I did have to wait awhile but they offer walk in appt only I believe. You just have to live with that or get there when they open...not sure I have only been 2X. The Dr. herself (Kalika, Sima) did a good job diagnosing my problem and it wasnt easy. She was quick to administer the correct protocol and also do the correct lab work. Btw the way to the review again...lab work is not allowed to be given over the phone..thats HIPAA not the dr. fyi.
