AVOID!!
I went to Daniel's to have my hair highlighted last week and ended up with my hair in the sink.
The bleach was left on my hair for 4 hours, I was placed under a heat lamp which literally rested on top of my head, for 45 minutes!! The foils on top were left standing upright resulting in the bleach bleeding through to my roots and scalp. When rinsing my hair I glanced in the mirror and saw lumps of my hair being pulled off and rinsed away.
When I challenged them, they stated "It's not your hair, it's just tissue paper". First of all, there was no tissue paper anywhere near my hair, I had foils for christs sake; and secondly I could clearly see the (now) inch long chunks of hair on top of my head.
I was then subjected to (without explanation or warning) a bottle of toner being poured over my already distressed scalp using a motion that resembled someone drenching their chips in vinegar! I ended up having to knock the bottle out of her hands as the toner was splashing not only on my hair but also onto my face and too near my eyes for my liking.
The salon itself is filthy. To ensure they got my head under the heat lamp, the owner brought through a pillow for me to sit on (no the chairs didn't adjust; they were filthy also) which looked like it had been urinated on countless times. As I sat with my foils in I glanced to my right and noticed a trolley loaded up with various hairdressing equipement. The rows of hair rollers matted with grey hair and fluff were especially intriguing.
After rinsing and removing my hair down their plug hole I was thrilled when they removed excess water from my hair with a stained towel complete with large holes in.
After further scorching my scalp with yet more peroxide against my will; I was then subjected to the owner slathering on some "Hair Repair Mask" which looked like it had come straight out of the 80s and possibly a bin. As he applied this mask to my hair I looked down at the open tub I noticed that not only did it contain an ancient remedy balm, but that it also contained hair, fluff and some rather fetching black slimy "stuff".
I left the salon without paying and needless to say I will not be going back.
I walked into 2 more salons in Irvine for an opinion and was ecstatic to find out that the owner (I should have seen this really) is an alcoholic and his sister (my lovely colour technician) is a pot head. Both salons also stated that they had lost count of the amount of customers they received needing repair work done on their hair from using this salon. I received 2 written statements from both salons outlining the mistakes and poor work undertaken on my hair. Photographs were taken and I'm in the process of suing for damages.
So do yourselves a favour and avoid this salon at all costs. read more
