From the outside, I would have never expected such potential. The large building is planted very near the tracks off of Tryon & Dalton - just a few minutes from Uptown. Now, I'm sure the space varies per event, but the folks at Lupus decorated it beautifully. Tons of tables, a large bar to the right, dance floor near the stage and plenty of walking around room. Plus, there are two old train cars outside the side doors that are perfect for additional entertainment options - the event last night had a fortune teller and a bones reader in these cars. Per Extravaganza Depot's website, it looks like they are full service event planning and execution company. Capacity wise, the site reads 350 seated and 600 standing and there are adequate restroom facilities and probably 200 parking spaces (total guess here). There aren't too many well put together venues in Charlotte that host these types of numbers, but Extravaganza Depot does offer a great option!

What a GREAT space for ANY party or event! Extravaganza Depot converted part of their warehouse into a venue for parties and events. It's a very cool open space with a back deck that has a GREAT view of the Charlotte Skyline and 2 train cabooses that can be used. Not only do you get a GREAT venue for your party, you get access to the thousands of their props for your party. The folks at Extravaganza Depot were extremely professional, courteous, fun to work with and did a fantastic job! I could go on and on but the bottom line is, Extravaganza Depot is an AMAZING venue for a party or event and they did an AMAZING job and exceeded our very high expectations! We could not be more pleased with our choice to go with the Extravaganza Depot for our very important event! We would totally recommend using Extravaganza Depot for your next event/party!!! Pink Petunia was recommended by a friend -- and of course you should always consider recommendations from friends whose taste you love. The moment I met Penny, I knew that we would be able to work together. She is simply lovely and so approachable. Though she gets the budget question out there towards the beginning of the meeting, as a bride I more than respected that she was simply looking to manage my expectations. And manage did she ever. Our meeting was at the Pink Petunia Studio in Dallas, NC -- just 30 minutes south of Charlotte --and there Penny and Greg have a cooler, store much of their glass product, and grow their own flowering trees. It is as though you are witnessing the creative process first-hand. It is hard not too look around and be inspired yourself. Leading up to our wedding, Penny was amazing at communicating and making sure that we were always on the same page. When she delivered the flowers, and I first saw my bouquet, I started to tear up. I was so excited, and as the photographer was in the room with us, I insisted we get a photo straight away! I am certain that, though the wedding is over, my relationship with Penny will continue on. I would recommend her to any bride looking to find a floral creator who will "make your dreams come true".

Penny was very patient during our meetings and listened to my every idea and thought. She went above and beyond and worked with me to stay within my budget and never expressed any kind of frustration or annoyance when I'd change my mind for the 100th time. She was so kind throughout the whole planning process and truely fulfilled my dreams! Penny and Greg were on site at the end of the evening to remove their vases and candleabras, etc. This was a huge load off of my parents, and I am so grateful. Flowers are expensive, in general, but I can honestly say that Pink Petunia will treat you right and make your dreams a reality! Penny's work is gorgeous and totally worth the money! When my guests see me or my pictures, they're still commenting on the beautiful flowers from my wedding and reception. Penny is the BEST! A++

On the day of the wedding, I was genuinely relaxed. They handled so much behind the scenes and made it all look effortless. I just wanted to give a huge shoutout to Allie and Savannah! They went above and beyond and were such a big part of making the day run perfectly. Rob and I appreciate you guys so much. Truly, the entire team was incredible. Everyone was so kind and helpful, and everything went off without a hitch. The food was amazing (we did the plated meal), the drinks were strong, and the Photo Booth was a huge hit! Most importantly, we had such a fun, unforgettable time. Everyone has been telling us how perfect everything looked and how much fun they had (and we can be a rowdy crew, haha). From the very first planning meeting to the last dance of the night, we felt genuinely cared for. As two busy working professionals, the structure and support from Wedgewood Weddings & Events made our planning process feel manageable and bite-sized instead of overwhelming. Every step was organized, clear, and thoughtful. It allowed us to actually enjoy being engaged instead of drowning in spreadsheets. Sarah, Virginia, and Savannah were phenomenal. Truly. They anticipated needs before we even voiced them, answered every question with patience, and made us feel like our wedding was the only one that mattered. On the day of, Savannah in particular took such intentional care of both me and Kevin. She checked in constantly, kept things flowing seamlessly, and made sure we were present instead of stressed. As chefs and hotel people, service is everything to us. The attention to detail did not go unnoticed. The team followed our directions perfectly, respected our vision, and executed it beautifully. A moment that meant the world to us was watching the service staff go above and beyond to help my autistic nephew find something "safe" to eat during dinner. That kindness and awareness is not something you can train into people. It's heart. We also loved the intentional use of small businesses throughout the process. You can feel that Alexander Homestead values community and craftsmanship, and that matters. Our day felt seamless, warm, and deeply cared for from start to finish. We walked away not just married, but genuinely grateful. If you're considering this venue, stop looking. You've found it.

Kinda reminded me of a college bar thing, but maybe that's what they are appealing to? But, there are plenty of restaurants in the area you can grab a good drink at first before you head over. Now this is a business. It actually serves a few markets - Charlotte and Jacksonville, Florida. There are sponsors that aid in the promotions via Paschal Promotions and bands are book via East Cost Entertainment. In Charlotte, they have events in the Wells Fargo (formerly Wachovia) Plaza, EpiCenter, and also Piedmont Town Center (which I cannot personally write about at this time as I haven't attended any events at the last location). The first 4 weeks kickoff in the Wells Fargo Plaza and though the weather can be a bit unpredictable at times and the temperature bordering on chilly, it is a great time mainly for the fact the space is very wide open and people watching is at its best. Paschal Promotions actually uses the elevated space at the far side of the courtyard for VIP, so add in space for the band and plenty of room to move around and this is what many folks I've talked to has said is the best venue for this event. I was actually there last night and people were lamenting that it was moving to EpiCenter in May and that it will be too crowded and the average age will drop significantly. Basically they were saying that April is the best and the rest is a hit or miss. Sorry EpiCenter, but you evidently have a bad wrap with the older crowd in the Queen City when it comes to this event. There are multiple beer stands and you can even purchase mixed drinks. The event is free to enter and serves as the largest "happy hour" in the city, though it isn't really a happy hour (i.e. drink specials) as beers cost from $5 to $6 a bottle....liquor I haven't a clue? It is a fun and casual atmosphere and since it is located in the center city, once the event ends at 10pm sharp. I say sharp because last night at 10:03pm security was literally using bullhorns with sirens to get folks to leave........very uncool. Of course once you leave you have plenty of great restaurants, bars, and even some shopping depending upon how late you stay. Official After Parties occur at several locations during these events (Whisky River, Suite, and BlackFinn, but only if you have your wristbands on, so remember kiddies, don't tear them off because if you keep them on you will be granted free entry into these after parties. They have a website which you can check out the band line-up, where to park, and look at picture. In addition you can even sign up for a mailing list or even follow them on Twitter. Finally, the people watching is priceless. There are a lot of beautiful people that do dress up nicely and attend this event and plenty of folks looking for love......or something that resembles certain aspects of love....or......well, I'll stop there...you get the point. So if you haven't ventured out on a Thursday in the Center City, then check out Alive After 5 (at the EpiCenter starting in May) and have a drink on me!
