Agree with the reviews, this doctor is inappropriate. Too many unnecessary questions, created a very uncomfortable atmosphere. Please avoid

I had developed cold/flu symptoms on April 23. I contacted my providers office the next day (…read moreMonday), to get an appointment to see my provider. Of course, you cannot speak to anyone at the office, they transfer you to a call center. Meanwhile I am feeling sick, bad dry cough and lost my voice completely. They scheduled me to have a video appointment on April 25 with someone I don't know, who called in a script for prednisone. I continue to feel sick all week. Meanwhile I have administered 2 COVID tests to ensure its not that-tested negative both times. On april 28, I again call -get the call center again, who tell me the first appointment I can get is at 7 am on May 3. I do receive a call back from a nurse-who says she'll '' speak with "someone". The next contact I have is with CVS, who tell me someone has called in a script for a Z-pac. This without anyone seeing me at all. I take the z-pac, do feel a little better and arrive at my appointment today, May 3 at 7 am. Upon arrival I am told there is no appointment and am referred to Urgent Care!! This bad review is not about my provider, its about the incompetence of the management of St peters family medicine, St Peters Health partners, and Trinity. I could not in good conscience recommend this organization to anyone. This is disappointing because I have been a patient here for well over 30 years, but now believe I have to look for a new practice simply to take care of my own well being!

This was the absolute worst time of my life and every visit to this office made me feel worse. My concerns were brushed off frequently and I was made to feel like less than human. One time,I went there to get help for my anxiety.I checked in, saw the nurse, told her my concerns and waited. Then the head doctor, accompanied by the actual doctor that I was there to see comes in and starts SCREAMING at me - accusing me of drug seeking and he told me that if the treatment there wasn't good enough then I was free to get out. I was crying so hard that I couldn't talk. I tried to tell him it wasn't like that. I said nothing about drugs. I just needed help. He rolled his eyes and left. The doctor I was actually there to see sits down and just looks at the paperwork. I'm still crying so hard that I can't get words out without gasping. She hands me a tissue box without even looking up. She asks a couple questions that I can't even really answer because I can't stop crying and then hands me a free sample of some drug that I couldn't take anyway because it was contraindicated with the meds I was already on. It's not legal to give out samples from pharmaceutical reps. It's not good medicine to hand out meds that will kill your patient, and it's absolutely disgusting for any doctor to scream at a patient like Dr. Michael Gardner screamed at me. I had to find a new practice because obviously I will never go back there. Unfortunately, the next practice was only slightly better. Sigh. Here's hoping I make it to 2021.

Yeah, this place has its good and its bad. In my personal experience, which is, of course, all I…read morecan talk about with any degree of certainty, the good is very good and the bad is pretty bad. The good, in my experience, is largely my NP. She's excellent, communicates well, makes things very clear to me, and I can consider her "my NP", in that see her every time I go, unlike the doctor-go-round I rode at the last practice I used where I never saw the same doctor twice in a row. I don't know if that's how they usually do things at OMC; I just made it clear to whomever I saw the first couple of times I went there that that's why I was switching practices and what I was looking for, and whether because I said that or because that's just how they do things there, they've made it happen and I really appreciate that. They also understood that I prefer to see a woman practitioner and if my NP is unavailable for any reason then they'll set me up with another female doctor/NP. So all that's great. Where they have fallen down kind of consistently in my experience is in their communication - and that's a big deal, because communication is the foundation of every successful relationship, and if that's not there, you've got a real problem. I went to a dental practice to have a tooth extracted, and they needed a medical release from OMC, so they faxed their request over, and it was never responded to. So I went back in a couple of weeks later, and the process was repeated, with the same result. At this point, I went in to OMC in person to talk to someone at the desk, and she was great and apologized that they were way behind on their faxes (that's a very bad thing in it of itself), and assured me that she would see that the release got over to the dental practice that day...and it never did. That tooth is still in my head (thankfully it doesn't bother me or if this would've been an even bigger problem). So I guess, long story short, I love my practitioner but I'm not as crazy about the practice itself. They do some things well and some other things not well at all. As such, I can recommend trying them perhaps, and seeing what your own experience is like, but unfortunately I can't just give a wholehearted recommendation.

She will try her best to get you in that same day, explain what is going on, take blood work to check my levels and much much more! Although eventually I might need a left knee replacement and not looking forward to that, I will always praise her for her kindness and understanding every time I go in to get my Remicaid treatments, knees drained or whatever I am in there for. There have been times when I just can't take one more knee drained, medication or Remicaid infusion and I am mentally and physically exhausted over these symptoms but she is always there to give me hope and I know it could be worse if she wasn't treating me. Things have gotten better its just my 1 left knee now that keeps filling up with fluid. All of my joints are better. I will see an ortho to deal with that and hopefully just get it cleaned up by a quick procedure. Christine Rotterdam, NY

I was a patient at first care for nearly 4 years and let me tell you it was four years too long…read more This is by far the WORST doctors office in the capital region. I was almost denied my medications by a nurse because THEY hadn't filled it in over four days, actually blackmailed to "calm down or I won't get my meds filled" treated like a crack head because I was on benzos and judged everytime a certain doctor saw me. Meds were rarely on time until the state law changed where I needed to be seen every month instead. The ONLY good thing about this retched place is Roxanne, she listened and understood every problem I had helped me immensely and actually cared. The day my grandfather died I had to cancel my monthly appointment and they STILL charged me 50$ for cancelling before 24 hours. Sorry I didn't tell him to die ahead of time Roberta! Do not go here save yourself the headache and heartache of this place. I'm happily at a new doctor. You will not be getting the 50$ I was charged nor will you ever get a good review from me. This place is disgusting. I made a report with the health department over the blackmail of my pills and I won't stop until everyone knows what kind of bull**** place this is! GO SOMEWHERE ELSE!!!

I've been a patient at First Care for several years. I've had varied levels of good and bad…read moreexperiences during my time as a patient. I think one of the most frustrating situations was when I tried to talked to the receptionist and tried to explain a situation that was new to me (and quite obviously new to her) and she hung up on me not only once, but TWICE, and would not answer the phone after that, when I needed help from their nursing dept. badly. Since then, I had one of the best experiences as a patient I think I've ever had. Her name is Roxanne, and (I think) she is a nurse practitioner there. ( Just aside, Dr. Fuhrman is a great guy, and has been kind enough to work with me and my disorder for which it's difficult to find a provider who will support my medication needs, but he still seems to have some doubts about my condition that I've been diagnosed with for 33 years.) Now back to Roxanne. Today I had to do a walk-in appointment. Yeah, I had to wait for a while b/c people do have appointments and as it should be, the people with scheduled appointments should come first. But Roxanne came in and listened to my situation, and was amazing at helping me figure out a plan that would help me and my employer meet my medical needs (without making me look like a hypochondriac, or like someone physically incapable of keeping my job of 18 years)! This woman is amazing. She is willing to do whatever it takes to support the people on her (most probably) immense caseload. She makes me feel comfortable and has established a therapeutic rapport that allows me to communicate my needs effectively, rather than just coming in with an illness I've tried to "ignore" in the past. If you go to First Care, look up Roxanne. Just don't do it too often, b/c she will become so popular that some other place far away will hire her that will pay her much more - a place where travel time and mileage $ would put a hurt on my budget (and maybe yours).
