Caggiano Memorial-Home For Funerals

I've been sitting on this review for awhile now. Our family had used Caggiano's last April for my…read morefather in law's services. They were amazingly kind and accommodating then. Unfortunately recently we had to plan my cousins services right after Christmas so we contacted Caggianos again. They were again very helpful and kind...Then the most terrible situation happened, eight days after my cousin suddenly passed my sister also passed away suddenly and tragically. Not only was Michael and Pat and all the workers here so helpful, they offered us their unwavering support through this entire process. We ultimately decided to have all the services for both family members within a three day period. Michael and Pat were there for us from beginning to end. We couldn't have had more perfect people to help us during the worst time of our lives. It is impossible to explain my sincerest gratitude and appreciation for everything they did for us. They felt like family and they treated us that way. I've never felt so taken care of by people who we didn't know well before these tragedies. Our limo driver Joe was also so kind and helpful throughout the day. We were all in such a daze and had such a hard time getting through everything. Without their support and love I don't think we would have made it through the way that we did. I can't say enough good things about this funeral home and the people who work here. This review doesn't even do them justice. Thinking about how supportive they were beings tears to my eyes. I hope whoever is seeing this review decides to use Caggianos during their time of sorrow.

This type of event was not something I was prepared for. But Michael and his team did an exceptional job. Communicative, available, considerate and respectful. A truly top notch and well run organization. Michael took care of any business well before the ceremony so that we wouldn't have to be disturbed during or after. The facility is beautiful, warm and comfortable. The staff were all professional. Couldn't have asked for anything more.

Apter handled the funeral for multiple members of my family. Under Andy, the funeral director who…read moredied a few years ago, they were great. Unfortunately, as of June 2023, things have changed dramatically, and this place is horrifically bad. 1. Gerard, the funeral director, is as aggressive and obnoxious as salesmen go. After we spoke, he emailed me some documents. Even though I said this wasn't an emergency, he followed-up with me less than 24 hours later. "Please confirm you received my email," he demanded, even though it was Saturday. I responded on Sunday, he did so as well, and within 12 hours, he sent me the same urgent message: "Please touch base with me this morning so that I may assist you further.." How about a little empathy, Jerry? Also, I said this wasn't urgent; why can't you exercise a modicum of patience? 2. At this point, I connected with Louis, Apter's president. I emailed Lewis a few questions, and it took him 7 days to reply. Apparently, he was out of the office at a conference, though he seems to be unaware of the auto-replies that most people use in these situations. 3. Louis's emails consist of one long paragraph and egregious typos. Here's an example: "We due Monuments, which our offices will be in contact with you after the Funeral, If you wish the pre-pay for that Item." He means "do," not "due," and "wish to," not "wish the." And let's not even get into the odd capitalization and the comma instead of a period. 4. Louis doesn't actually answer the questions you ask. I had to ask him four (4) times to identify the casket we had spoken about, because he'd been calling it by the wrong name. 5. I received estimates from multiple funeral homes. Apter is the most expensive -- by far. The bottom line: Apter has a great location across from St. Barnabas. But the way they treat people -- even those whose families they've been helping for almost 25 years -- is unprofessional and deeply troubling. Funerals are one of the most difficult times in your life; if you want a fair price and to be treated with respect, then I would avoid Apter.

Giving this review is feel physically sickened just thinking about how dirty and creepy interior chapel is that housed my brother. Everything chair, pillar and kneeling bench was dusty, dirty or cracked. I did not have any input on the selection of this home, as my brother's immediate family resides in New Jersey and we traveled from Atlanta, California and South Carolina. Con's: there are zero positives. The staff onsite was minuscule, poorly dressed and lacked professional as they are rule and simply ignorant - lacking empathy. My brother's makeup appeared cheap and lacked lively blending and texture. It appeared one color was just smeared over his entire face, including lips. The final facial appearance looked like he had been accident, but he died of natural causes - without a fall or injury. Bruises from the IV were very visible below is suit arms. I requested correction during the viewing but he was unchanged at the funeral. The building ceiling has leaked stained dated tiles . At the procession the drivers were worst than a taxi driver - they did. It escort or open the door for us. They left the doors open for you to seat yourself. The vehicles were dirty and had been either keyed or wrecked . The chapel was dirty and the staff allowed the next family to enter the chapel during our funeral, as it ran over time . I could say much more but I can barely thinking about the lack of service, cleanliness and unprofessionalism. The burial service was just poor, lacked feeling and pathetic. I wish I had something good to say, but this book cover is as ugly and worse inside . Lastly, I pray my brother body was not disrespect during his stay? The funeral was held Friday, 20 June 2025.

The death of our loved one, who was only 31 years old, came unexpectedly. We certainly wanted to find a dignified place to say our last goodbyes and this one was recommended to us by another member of our family whom we trust. Nick Grillo worked with us from start to finish to make sure we were satisfied in every aspect. The establishment itself was beautiful and clean. It was wonderful to know we'd have the entire vicinity to ourselves and our mourning guests. We were all able to grieve peacefully, share memories and say our last goodbyes while Rob, a member of the staff, continuously kept us up to date and ensured the beautifully-made obituary cards were always stocked for the guests. We chose to cremate our loved one and were given his ashes a few days after the funeral. He was informative and pleasant about the pending questions we had during our final meeting. We highly recommend this place to anyone who wants to give their loved ones a final service that is graceful, peaceful and dignified. Sending love and appreciation on behalf Omar S.'s family.
