They delivered high-quality customer service from the moment we walked in for the meeting with Mr Houston to the moment we stepped out of the limousine at the repass location. Mr. Houston was welcoming, warm, and friendly. He was very transparent during our discussion about the finances. We wanted to purchase our casket from another source and Mr. Houston was very accommodating of our wishes. He took the time to explain different types of cemeteries and interment systems so that we were able to make well-educated decisions. The information was clear and had no tricky fine print in the contract. The pleasant, homely ambience of the funeral home encouraged us the celebrate our dad's life rather than mourning a loss. Due to the pandemic, accommodation is restricted to 30-35 persons in the funeral home, which was fine for our family. We were very pleased with the dressing and makeup of the body. We used a Christian minister and a vocalist provided by the funeral home. I am a Christian and was not sure how well a funeral home preacher would deliver. Again, they delivered beyond our expectations. The minister skillfully blended our family cultures in his message to us. The vocalist was anointed, to say the least. Another wow moment for us was seeing the program presentation when we arrived for the service. CHFH created an impressive program on glossy 11 by 17 paper, definitely a keepsake. Mr Houston has a spirit of excellence that permeates every aspect of his business. My family is happy we worked with him and do not hesitate to recommend CHFH.

My cousin and I had to come back the following day to finally see my mother lead to rest. The funeral director was very apologetic, but the damage was already done. How do you consider yourself professional in a FUNERAL business and not have a grave ready for burial. I was advised by the funeral director he failed to follow up with the CEMETARY to make sure everything was ready. I walked in and the staff were immediately available to answer my questions and even took me over to my cousins grave. They did not rush us to leave the cemetery and I was even able to lighten the mood talking to Chaz who would be with us the next day. They accommodated my large family and made us feel like we could really mourn our loss in a safe place. I also learned some of the history of the cemetery and the city of Newark while chatting with the cemetery attendants at the graveside. Giving this review is feel physically sickened just thinking about how dirty and creepy interior chapel is that housed my brother. Everything chair, pillar and kneeling bench was dusty, dirty or cracked. I did not have any input on the selection of this home, as my brother's immediate family resides in New Jersey and we traveled from Atlanta, California and South Carolina. Con's: there are zero positives. The staff onsite was minuscule, poorly dressed and lacked professional as they are rule and simply ignorant - lacking empathy. My brother's makeup appeared cheap and lacked lively blending and texture. It appeared one color was just smeared over his entire face, including lips. The final facial appearance looked like he had been accident, but he died of natural causes - without a fall or injury. Bruises from the IV were very visible below is suit arms. I requested correction during the viewing but he was unchanged at the funeral. The building ceiling has leaked stained dated tiles . At the procession the drivers were worst than a taxi driver - they did. It escort or open the door for us. They left the doors open for you to seat yourself. The vehicles were dirty and had been either keyed or wrecked . The chapel was dirty and the staff allowed the next family to enter the chapel during our funeral, as it ran over time . I could say much more but I can barely thinking about the lack of service, cleanliness and unprofessionalism. The burial service was just poor, lacked feeling and pathetic. I wish I had something good to say, but this book cover is as ugly and worse inside . Lastly, I pray my brother body was not disrespect during his stay? The funeral was held Friday, 20 June 2025.
