Dempsey's Brewery and Pubs nails that authentic Irish atmosphere so well, you half-expect a…read moreleprechaun to pinch your pint while you're not looking. The warm wooden digs and lively vibe make it a proper escape in Watertown, SD, though the only drawback is the constant buzz of chatter drowning out what should be some good ol' Dropkick Murphys tunes. I was particularly impressed by the great pastrami on homemade rye--tender, tangy meat stacked high on fresh-baked bread that could make even a New Yorker do a happy jig. Their bartenders are absolute gems, slinging drinks and banter with the charm of seasoned storytellers who somehow remember your name after one visit. One quirky touch is how the floors creak underfoot, like they're gossiping about all the pints spilled before you. Strangely enough, the soup of the day was tequila, a boozy curveball that had the whole place toasting with confused delight and empty bowls. The house brews hold their own, pairing like old friends with the hearty grub. All in all, Dempsey's is a witty, wonderful Watertown, SD gem.

Dempsey's is a Watertown stalwart for places to go eat and catch up with people. This place has…read morebeen around for a bit and everyone is familiar with the quality of the food and specifically their pies. During the stint back in Watertown I didn't make as many trips to Dempsey's as I normally would but the quality of the food hasn't dropped. It's always nice when you walk in you can smell pizza being baked in their oven (s). I usually land on their Dempsey's Classic that has Pepperoni, Italian Sausage, Green peppers, Black Olives, Baby Bella Mushrooms. I usually ask for them to add another 3 mins of cook time for the extra crispy and ensure the middle of the pizza is fully cooked. They have a variety of other unique pizza's to taste but I usually go with their Classic. They also have a variety of their own in-house brews that's always changing along with their standard taps. If anyone is ever visiting Watertown definitely add Dempsey's as a go to place to try out.

I am a hot dog lover. I love myself a good dog. I went in and ordered a "Cowboy Dog", with one request (hold the relish ). It. Was. Phenomenal. It's not your typical hotdog, with your typical hotdog bun. The bun is - apparently - a flattened version of a pretzel, maybe? It's a whole new texture, and I didn't realize that I was missing it in my life. Not only was the meal top-notch, my to-go container came with a note of appreciation written on top. The customer service was also exceptional. It's a great small town atmosphere, with a unique menu and amazing flavors. I learned about their dessert selections, and that's FOR SURE what I'm going back for next. I will be a repeat visitor!!!!

I am a big fan of Pizza Ranch and actually think their chicken is even better than the pizza…read more Unfortunately, this is not one of their better locations. Food: Most of the pizza was cooked well, but the variety was somewhat lacking. So when they put out a Taco Pizza and veggie pizzas, they just sit there until they look inedible; yet still on there. I wish there were more standard options that turn quickly: pep, sausage, buffalo chicken, bbq chicken. This was the food would be hot and fresh. The chicken bucket was primarily thighs, with not a wing or breast in sight. Finally they refreshed the bin and I was able to snag what seemed to be the only breast. Overall food score of 4 stars, Then I turned to see that soft serve was not working and the sweet side was pretty bare, so one star off. Service: I did the auto tip at the register of 15% since it was a buffet, but the service was actually pretty good and I should have given them 20%. The pizza buffet was refreshed and seldom was there a wait for a new one to come out. Even better would have been if at some point they would have asked me if there was a special pizza I was looking for. Outside of that, the tables were cleaned timely and utensils well stocked. Overall: Crazy value that I paid less than $18 for all this food and soda. I wish there were wings and breasts on the chicken bin, but outside of that: very solid visit.
